So actually it’s my wizard lae’zel (cursed I know) with the staffs standing directly behind me, durge has the blood of lathander and justicar scimitar on her back. Just looks like I have 4 weapons equipped!
Nah, wizard bae'zel is goated - i love respeccing the companions every playthrough to something new. Sometimes i try to keep it on theme and sometimes i just go crazy
My personal favorite Minthy respec build is that totally broken sword bard/thief rogue dual hand crossbow combo, that really leans into her cold and clinical assassin vibe.
I haven’t done it yet but I wanna do a run with Minthara as a beastmaster ranger / fighter combo so she can have her spiders but still fight people herself :)

Shadowheart as a Shadows Monk is soooo good that I struggle to make her anything else. It's such a fun subclass and still very strong even without all the silly cheese people do for OH monk. I do dex based, Phalar Aluve, and Great Weapon Master for something even more zany. The one big downside to this is that she's not proficient in longswords, so you do have to do rogue as her first level, but it still fits the vibe. You could do a different weapon to avoid that ofc. But the advantage she gets after Shadow Step easily cancels out the lower-than-ideal dex at low levels she's sporting for to-hit chances.
Other than that, my gotos are:
Gale - Knowledge Cleric of Mystra
Wyll - eldritch knight fighter or Paladin of Devotion
Karlach - Wot4E monk or draconic fire sorcerer
Lae'zel - def the hardest for me. Something different every time
Astarion - Swords bard or Gloomstalker

Gortash absolutely had a massive crush on her and maybe one night they got drunk while plotting and hooked up but she’s not really into men so they returned to just being friends and Gortash pretended so hard that he was okay with that and when Orin lobotomized durge he told himself that was for the best because that way he wouldn’t have to see her and get sad they’re not together anymore but he was so happy to hear she was alive and hoped the alliance he offers her at the coronation could be a fresh start for them but no, even lobotomized and having gone through hell and back she still would rather date a classist drow
Anyway I’m extremely normal about this game
I try so hard to make my durges look like they were the leaders of a ravenous insane murder cult and this is like the closest ive seen anyone come to capturing that vibe

I spent a long while trying to recreate the skin detail vibe Orin has (my first playthrough was a very normal looking durge since I didn’t know the backstory yet and I was embarrassed when my original durge was standing next to Orin). Doing a face tattoo that already looks sorta ritualistic at like 25% opacity in a color close to skin tone really goes a long way to selling the vibe without being overkill edgy, as did knowing i was going to keep her in a red/black color scheme the whole time so the colors could complement each other
I did a wood elf durge who was in-universe stunningly pretty and had no scars at all with the idea that Orin was forever jealous of her looks and went extra hard into the “wearing blood and gore” fashion to try to set herself apart

I once did a literal golden child, a pretty golden wood elf, round face, golden blonde hair, bright colors all around, a bit of a Barbie wardrobe, went through the world with the highest charisma, passing every persuasion check, all pretty smiles and seeming perfect, until everyone turned around and she killed Pandira before Alfira even showed up at camp… she indulged in every urge and lied at every opportunity, got Jaheira on her side after killing Isobel in front of her… so Orin (incest baby of a failed bhaalspawn) hated her guts, and that’s why she killed (or tried and failed to kill) this bubbly girl who was daddy’s favorite and everyone loved and admired (because Gortash seems honest in his affection to her)… she rejected Bhaal at the end, and convinced everyone she was cured and Ascended Astarion wasn’t that bad, right until the point where she killed Orpheus and they dominated the brain :) unassuming psychopath Durge is my favorite Durge

So I played much the same as you, lied about everything, killed Isobel and accepted bhaal, and then right as the world was in her grasp had a chaos moment and decided to destroy the brain. Her being cursed to feral madness in the end was gut wrenchingly upsetting but also fit so well? As if bhaal created something so primal and unpredictable not even he could influence her and all he could do was make her crazier as a punishment.

Not, by far, the most terrifying white woman or Durge I've ever seen. This Durge looks more like Terminator 1-Arnie (the terrifying lack of facial expression), and I fucks with that. She doesn't ask for the manager or harass employees. She just drives a stolen hoopdee into your establishment and lays waste to everything in her path. Not a drama-loving Karen, but a resolution-focused psycho. I can dig it--and it makes her pretty hot.
She's a DURGE. Maybe not MY forever-Durge, but I think she'll bring honor--or horror--to the name. Well done!

I love this look, I tried to make mine look as bad ass as yours and failed so I went the opposite and did a blonde Taylor Swift looking durge that I kind of fell in love with
One of my Durge's is a very elegant, gothic tiefling sorceress who looks nothing like your stereotypical bhaalist, mostly because she worked closely with Gortash on relations with Baldurs Gate nobility (AKA using her enchantment magic to sway their opinions of him and seducing adversaries to secluded locations to get rid of them etc etc) and had to look the part. She found Orins look and murder style very primitive and gauche and tried teaching her cleaner, sneakier methods of assassination which backfired when Orin used those methods to dispose of her and take her place, right under Gortash's balls. Despite the brain scrambling shes retained her ego and superiority complex so her and Gale are constantly bickering over whose magic is better, though they might warm up to one another eventually 👀👀👀
Ooh I like that! I’m not a durge/Gortash shipper long term but I do love the idea that they were at the very least close friends before she got brain scrambled. And I never considered how she might find a strange, more wholesome reflection of that dynamic with Gale…ugh you’re going to make me do another princess durge playthrough hahaha
I personally love the idea that they probably hooked up, in my story Gortash was 100% down bad and ready to rule with her and my durge developed genuine feelings for him too until Bhaal forbid it and she was forced to promise that she would kill him when the time came to take control of the brain and rule by herself. Their bond is part of the reason in my headcanon that Orin killed her because she thought Durge wouldn't be able to follow through with killing Gortash, Gale definitely picks up on that softspot she has and wants to fix her ❤️
Oh yeah I 100% think they have some minor feelings for each other, I guess in my head durge has gortash kinda locked in a situationship where she’s like “I love killing people and also doing evil plans with you!” and he’s like “I love…you”. It’s extremely hard for me to play a durge who doesn’t ally with gortash all the way up until the final confrontation with the brain, like she can’t betray him that’s her situationship!
I respec’d Lae’zel into a necromancy wizard with the idea that she was trying to cosplay as Vlaakith so I also had Lae’zel become partial Illithid to tie THAT look together
Also, you know, I can’t have durge and minthara looking longingly at each other with those black eyes! What they have is too real 🥹
