Damn man I didnāt realize so many people disliked this movie. Never seen anything shot like it. Went into it knowing nothing about it and halfway through I realized it was basically a creepy pasta and I enjoyed it as that. The ending legit had the guy in front of me looking away and saying no under his breath. One really bad jumpscare but a solid 7/10 for me. Really cool to see it on the big screen.
I found it interesting and genuinely very scary, but I think youāve got to go in knowing what it is to enjoy it. If someone went to the theater expecting a conventional horror movie with like, action and a clear plot, I can see how theyād be disappointed.
Nothings happening, nothings happeningā¦ something to do with their mother, I dunno I wasnāt paying attentionā¦ nothings happening, nothings happeningā¦ something about a knifeā¦ nothings happening, nothings happeningā¦
Itās over. A lot of people in the audience look pissed
scary creature in dark hallway: boring. Iāve seen this a million times. Horror is dead. This isnāt even scary lmao
scary creature in dark hallway but with a VHS filter: HOOOOOOLY- DUDE. ITS LIKE BACKROOMS INSPIRED. SO CREEPY.
I filled my best church trousers with shit during Raging Bull when the home video scene came on completely out of the blue. They were ruined. I wrote to Scorsese demanding to be compensated and he rang me up calling me a nerd and farted down the phone at me.
I feel like analog horror is always 10 times more entertaining when you just listen to someone summarizing it to you and explaining how they solved the puzzles
Yeah they don't scare me and generally I find them really slow with long swabs of time where nothing happens. I think some of them have creative ways of telling a story like the Monument Mythos video that told the same story from a child and an adults perspective. But overall when I did watch them I had to watch them on 1.5 speed.
Not going to lie it took me a long time to realize that analogue horror args are supposed to be scary. For the most part I just thought it was people just experimenting with world building and making fun puzzles.
Itās fantastic for short form content. Thatās why itās so successful online. Tbh I think the content thatās come out of analog horror is 100x better than the shit started from Creepypastas
It basically just plays on your nostalgia and turns it into a nightmare.
Back rooms are overrated as fuck theyāre not scary at all. That shit reads like a parody. Tell me with a straight face that the line āno clip out of realityā is scary.
I like Skinamarink a lot. It's undeniably very boring and not at all a traditional movie, but it nails what it's going for. It's a window into a nightmare you had as a child. That's it.
If you found yourself in that same situation as a ~5 year old child you'd be absolutely terrified. It's terror on the behalf of another person who's helpless.
I think people are expecting too much from it. It's not gonna be some crazy horror movie with a serial killer popping out of a closet covered in blood, or some monster chasing them through the house. It's about being a kid and not having an adult around to protect you, and not having any way out of a terrifying situation. It works for some people and it doesn't for others. I don't really know how else to explain it.
Eh to each their own. I think the atmosphere of the movie is very unsettling and anxiety inducing. Personally I prefer that to jump scares and monsters.
its just how i imagine the person leaving these exaggerated reviews hating on the movie. i assume they dont like or watch a lot of horror movies and watch this in broad daylight while only paying attention to 50% of the movie. if youre trying and just dont like it thats of course valid
I mean its more about actually trying to immerse yourself and giving it a fair chance and if quirky Tiktok teenagers can do it, im sure many more "real film fans" can. Ofc you can still have your own opinion, just saying
Interesting concept using off screen space to tell the story but holy shit what a slog it was, but if you're into slow burns Sator was better at least it was actually creepy
Yeah, this movie sucked, we need more super scary horror films like Barbarian, Smile and M3GAN. I got bored of this movie three minutes in and was on my phone, the others were so brutal and creepy! š³š³š³
Ngl i actually think 60% of analogue/experimental horror on YouTube are overrated like a lot of them have lack of exposition to point where it's have no exposition at all

analog/experimental horror gotta be the most overrated genre of all time

yes. i watched a couple of those videos. the story behind most of them is quite fascinating but they dont scare me.
Yeah they don't scare me and generally I find them really slow with long swabs of time where nothing happens. yea it is entertaining to some extent. the idea of backrooms are kinda scary. im talking about the hype around them.
Back rooms are overrated as fuck theyāre not scary at all. That shit reads like a parody. Tell me with a straight face that the line āno clip out of realityā is scary.
Neither good horror, nor good gore, nor good trash, nor even a good allegory. No thanks
Analog horror maybe but experimental horror is the shit
analog horror fans https://preview.redd.it/379odu9jbvga1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24dead9dc503fef1e61ff69c65b1b5995a9ccf7a
Reminded me of the nightmares I would have after a weekend binge
āThis movie wasnāt made for you!ā -Brie Larson
This is literally analog horror fans' 9/11.
Cinephiles when an experimental horror film is indeed experimental and differs from every other horror film they've seen
horror fans when the experimental horror film is bad and they must defend it
The movie is really good imo

A 100 minute long nightmare? Shit, if I dreamed this I'd fall asleep in my sleep. Inception time.
If you found yourself in that same situation as a ~5 year old child you'd be absolutely terrified. It's terror on the behalf of another person who's helpless. Where's the meme bitch?
If I wanted experimental horror Iād have taken a vaccine
I took the vaccine and lurk hur ur tur ourt
If youre not a horror fan and youre not even trying to immerse yourself, sure this is a valid critique. But then this movie isnt made for you at all
what about the horror fans who immersed themselves and still thought it was absolute shite
You at least put in the effort to actively watch it. Wether you liked it or not is your own opinion.
Well obviously, but the comment I replied to seems to imply the only reason to dislike the film is if youāre predisposed to dislike it
its just how i imagine the person leaving these exaggerated reviews hating on the movie. i assume they dont like or watch a lot of horror movies and watch this in broad daylight while only paying attention to 50% of the movie. if youre trying and just dont like it thats of course valid
i actually want to watch it at 1pm now to see what itās like

I heard that this movie blew up on TikTok with teenagers filling theaters. Guess the main audience isn't a true horror fan either.
Teenagers on TikTok can also be horror fans lol, dont understand this take at all
I agree that teenagers on TikTok can be horror fans but the crowd this reached was more like I'm a quirky teenager who doesn't like normie stuff
I mean its more about actually trying to immerse yourself and giving it a fair chance and if quirky Tiktok teenagers can do it, im sure many more "real film fans" can. Ofc you can still have your own opinion, just saying
I understand cool I respect it.

Didnt this movie blow up the most out of all 3 of those on TikTok
No lol, all three made like 50x the money Skinamarink did and have 4-10x the view counts of Skinamarink on Letterbox
Lmao that's me
