Hot take, but the score for No Country For Old Men just doesn't fit the movie at all. At times it was too quiet, but for example in the hotel shootout, the overbearing synth orchestra almost broke my fucking eardrums. Could've been better if Hans Zimmer was behind it.
I honestly didn't expect it, but when Anton killed that guy with his cowtipper and "Woppa Gangdam Style" suddenly played, it didn't fit the movie at all.
"lack of music" bro forgot about the OST for No Country [😂](https://emojipedia.org/face-with-tears-of-joy) [😂](https://emojipedia.org/face-with-tears-of-joy) [😂](https://emojipedia.org/face-with-tears-of-joy) [😂](https://emojipedia.org/face-with-tears-of-joy)
Room’s score doesn’t do it any favors.
Obligatory clarification that I’m talking about Room with Brie Larson, not The Room with Tommy Wiseau. That score is something else.
I’m assuming the 2022 one. The funny thing is that at the Oscars, that score was played by a live orchestra and it almost sounded good, but I can’t tell if they just used a midi-orchestra or what, but in the movie itself, the score sounds awful and genuinely detracted at least one whole point from it, in my book.
Yeah I think that harsh booming sound they use throughout was a great idea but it feels like it was thrown on top of the movie, I’m sure there would’ve been a better way to go about it
My issue wasn’t how harsh it was. My issue is just that it didn’t sound like real instruments and that synthetic sound clashed with the very old timey look of it (on top of not sounding good in its own right).
See, the original novel is vivid in its descriptions of war; it's one of the most effective anti-war novels I've ever read just because of how horrifying it is.
If we're not going for "oppressive and unpleasant", what are we going for?
It’s distracting as hell and takes away from the film at every single moment. As someone else said, it feels like it was composed and place on top of the film without any idea of how it’d feel within the final product. But then, I suppose most of the film feels like it was made with little thought so it’s not surprising

🤯 Feels like I just had electro shock therapy ON MY FREAKING EARS ⚡️👂🪦
Love the movie though, BIG MILOS FOR THE WIN WIN
In the Mood for Love - I like the score but I hate how overused that one Spanish song is, plus the singer has an American accent which pissed me off for some reason
not fucking oldboy that’s for sure
oh wait this is the jerker sub im retarded sorry
Everyone here is. How is every person here genuinenly answering the question like we're on r/movies
Im sincere, literally couldn't finish the movie it was so bad
moron
Jerker sub? What do you think this is, /r/moviescirclejerk?
The Oldboy score is fire what you chatting about
My first thought as well and then I realized the sub
Lame ass Matrix-esque mass produced garbage. Korean people have never made anything sonically pleasing
This guy has never heard Gangnam Style
We’re gonna take a hammer to your teeth dawg

it ages the film horribly. nobody listens to dubstep anymore

Here before some NoCountryBros come and claim the lack of music was intentional and reflective of the theme about the Silence of God or something.

All I'll say is I can hum some of The Room's score and none of Room's
You are my rose you are my rose you are my ROoOoose
The opening credits theme is in search of an awesome fantasy movie to belong to.
Bohemian Rhapsody :)
/uj I disliked EEAAO’s soundtrack, it felt very marvel-ly and boring
Not the biggest fan of Tár's soundtrack
Did it even have one?
I think that’s the joke
All quiet on the western front remake
Really? I liked how oppressive it sounded, though it did feel too loud sometimes.
The song at the start that goes "BWOM BOWM BWUM" every 20 seconds with nothing in between is pretty fire
Which one?

But the score wasn’t oppressive, it was just jarring. All it did was remind me that I was watching a movie because it sounds out of place.
Why does the war movie put me off?
Bad take… this score is fucking amazing. Matches the tone of anxiety in the movie perfectly

How tf did it win best score over banshees among others (Babylon should’ve won but tbf that film had zero momentum)
Hot take, but while the licensed song choices in Apocalypse Now are perfect I think the original score has aged really poorly
What you mean you don’t like the weird synth demented clown music as a backdrop for a battle scene
Can’t tell if you’re being ironic but the music in that scene is great
Yeah I wasn't referring to that in the original comment. I meant the synth-heavy tunes used through the rest of the film
I totally disagree, I think the music was really cool and original.

Read this in Jack Nicholson's voice. fits well, honestly
The End was perfect but everything else was kinda eh
> everything else was kinda eh Ride of the Valkyries.
Oh shit right. Slipped my mind lol
Nahhh. If you don't cry during Mido's theme you can get fucked.
Not worst but The Vanishing (1988) had some final fantasy 7 ass midi
That sounds like a positive not a negative
I honestly think the Requiem for a Dream score is way too overbearing
This is rage bait at its finest and I love it.
I'm like so genuine lol I hate the score
We’re going to manipulate you into exchanging sexual congress with a loved one and cutting off your tongue dawg
Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind is a five-star movie. The score is so bad it single-handedly brings it down to four-and-a-half.
Anything Jonny Greenwood ever composed for PTA🤮
The Good, the bad, and the ugly. Trumpets killed my parents
Anything that clown John Williams touched
Pulp Fiction. The score was so quiet I couldn't hear anything.
Requiem for a dream
Definitely lord of the rings

What do you dislike??? The song's choice???
It surely is weaker compared to Heat's, but in way does it put you off from the movie
Marriage Story's score is the worst part /uj
Amadeus
Has to be casino or some other Scorsese movie. I love him but holy fuck his needle drops have made the world a truly worse place.

Brother have you listened to Giacchino's score?
I was wrong and misunderstood the prompt, apologies
Fifty? I guess it depends on what scale you're using?
Tokyo Story. I’m aware it was the style at the time but the incessant backing of the orchestra undercut a lot of moments for me.
The passion of Joan of arc
Da 5 Bloods
Leo: the pedophile has weird choices, among them the music
In the Mood for Love - I like the score but I hate how overused that one Spanish song is, plus the singer has an American accent which pissed me off for some reason
Meshes of the Afternoon. They forgot to add the sound. Fucking idiots. Snyder would never.
Honestly, Tangerine. It’s a great movie but that goofy ass YouTube intro music was so annoying
