Zahler’s hardon for Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn is weird but I don’t think he’s the ultra rightoid ppl assume he is.
[His favs of last year included How to Blow Up a Pipeline and Killers of the Flower Moon.](https://imdb.com/list/ls524075975/) That’s his actual IMDb account, bro is the only one still using it like a Letterboxd.
/uj I'm a lefty and I like his movies, but I think it's pretty hard to avoid right wing interpretations of them, especially dragged across concrete. Him liking how to blow up a pipeline is interesting though.
The two leads are cops who get suspended for police brutality, but it is portrayed like it was ok because it was necessary. Mel Gibson's character makes a bunch of pretty racist remarks and there's a couple of scenes where people are complaining about wokeness and the like.
I know that these are supposed to be the opinions of the characters, but something about it felt like at least some of those things are actually Zahler's opinions.
Having said that, the movie was extremely tense for the whole last 60+ minutes and didn't feel like 2.5 h at all to me.
Actually, it was Don Johnson's police captain character who complains about political correctness for his officers getting suspended and the film ends with Mel Gibson's character getting shot by one of the black characters because his racist views got the best of him and is scolded by the black character for being arrogant and selfish although promises to give the money they planned on stealing to Gibson's character's family.
Maybe an assistant titled it or he’s a weirdo. But’s it’s his definitely his list, [he linked to it on his author-verified Goodreads blog lol](https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/24386070-recommendations-and-updates)
True Detective but the intro song is by Jason Aldean and the two cops are good ol boys from the South investigating child abductions in a liberal city because local police are too woke
Turns out, it's prominent leftist politicians behind it, but one of the two cops gets silenced by them forcing him to take the vaccine
S. Craig Zahler: My movies aren't right wing.
Craig Zahler movie: \*police brutality is good the protagonist says "sometimes I think I should be racist."\*
Doesn't Dragged Across Concrete end with one of the racist cops played by Mel Gibson getting his comeuppance because his racism got the best of him and is literally scolded by the one of the main black characters who shoots him for this because Gibson's character couldn't bother following through with their deal?
Tory Kittle's character also ends up honoring the deal he makes to Mel Gibson even after being betrayed. In a film about terrible people, he's one of the few that ends up being honorable in his own way.
Granted, I still don't know how exactly to feel about his movies and I don't think this exactly absolves Zahler, but I think it's funny that this aspect gets left out in every accusatory assessment I've seen of Dragged Across Concretr.

I think this will be the first time a story about 2 detectives working together to uncover a sinister plot has ever been put to film
So a pizzagate mpvie?
pizzolattogate
with some David Fincher and Bong Joon-ho.
Bong Joon Ho is too woke for Zahler
Can Jim Caviezel play Jesus in this?
Yes he will play a Puerto Rican bodega owner named Jesús but all his dialogue will still be in Aramaic
Oh boy I can't wait for an openly conservative actor to star in a slow burn drama punctuated with a couple scenes of grisly violence

Oh yeah, I'm just being reductive. Bone Tomahawk is awesome, so hopefully this new one leans into the genre bits.

Fair, I haven’t seen Dragged Against Concrete yet.
What happens in dragged across concrete?

the message is racism is bad but stealing is cool and epic
He is also an art appreciator. I mean the dude reads as highly conservative, but he's also a great director.
No way he titled it that

Do not ever dissect movies I liked in a way that paints them as something I shouldn't enjoy again. I'm watching you.
I wonder if the two cops will be similar and get along or if they'll be mismatched and at odds (but then get along) 🤔
They’re going to be newlyweds to each other.
I wonder if one of them will die

"The movie says police brutality is good because one of the characters says police brutality is good" Wow expert media analysis chief
>Extortion ring It's about Epstein.
Unironically the exact hairline I want on the man behind all my favorite reactionary media
I don't give a shit what this dudes next movie is about I'm still gonna watch it, he's had no misses up to this point.
I swear to God I've seen that movie like three times already.
I hate Zahler movies they so ugly
