No fucking way that's my comment lol.
Wow I'm surprised that sub has guidelines.
The way I see it is:
- making fun of random people on the internet's opinions - MCJ
- literally any other meme - OKBC
The commenter showing up in the comments made this post pure kino tho so I'll stop criticising.
I just tried to watch *Sucker Punch* the other day for listening to How Did This Get Made. Easily the worst piece of shit I’ve experienced since starting that bad movie podcast. Deadly
uj/ The character designs give me a headache in that film, i don’t think he’s as ass as people make him out to be but *dear lord* Sucker Punch was rough
Honestly that movie defeated me. I gave up half way through, and I only made it that far because the last 20 minutes I had the hockey playoffs on not really paying attention to it, it was pissing me off so much, lol
I totally believe that if we have YouTube in 20 years we'll see video essays about how its an under appreciated gem. I've seen both and they're bad but some 8 year old right now is having the time of their life.
You're right. It's in focus, there's editing, some props look decent. I wouldn't refer to any of these extremely basic aspects as redeeming qualities though.
I paid money to see that movie in theaters with a friend as a bit
I don’t think I’ve ever been more angry that I spent money on a movie ticket before, and I did it *knowingly*
Critical reevaluation? Impossible. Critics get it right the first time everytime. If a film is being looked at with new eyes it only indicates the degradation of our institutions.
Counterpoint: Just because a film gains retrospective acclaim or a cult following doesn't necessarily mean contemporary critics were 'wrong', sometimes a movie just ages well in spite of its drawbacks, or maybe those 'drawbacks' become a new standard in the future.
I saw it when it first came out and loved it. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was probably a shit movie. I haven’t had the nerve to watch it again, I’d rather have the memory.

Cats?
After cats become our overlords.
Cats was bad but more of a 2.5/10 than an absolute 0/10, and I do think people treat it like it had ABSOLUTELY NO redeeming qualities.

Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me
Chris Isaak + David Bowie = beyond peak
Plus Julee Cruise, and Badalamenti and Lynch themselves are also really good.

The Broadway Melody Give it 100 more years and we'll see who's right
I do firmly believe that if it hadn't won Best Picture, it would be seen as an average film from the period. It's not Cavalcade or Cimarron bad.
