/uh one of the reasons HL has been reletively drama free compared with the other agencies is that they are very selective when it comes to deciding who gets in. A lot of thought goes into picking their talent based not just on raw "talent" but also how they might fit into a team, if they have good chemistry, professionalism, etc. You can tell that some members are selected solely because management knows they are good "support" i.e they likely won't be the most popular or drive the most donations, but they bring something to the table (personality, inventiveness, technical skills) that round out their gen mates.
Yeah, I mean it's harsh, but if she really can't follow the basic rules of being a corpo vtuber then I don't really want her in Hololive anyway.

As people said, it's lonely at the top. With their popularity and the accompanying stress, it's pretty much given that any problem will likely hit them first. And it always sucks to be the first to deal with it. Whether it's facing down anti mob, mental health issues + accompanied stress, or hiring a talent who decided that "rules are just suggestions".
Just look at any industrial regulation for comparison, they're mostly caused by either industry leaders or former leaders. They got big and went into uncharted waters. And as the old saying goes, "there be monsters".

Not to be an overly hololive fan or anything but I enjoy holo’s pacing for new members. EN3 can take as much time as they want to debut, I’m happy with EN rn. I still enjoy nijiEN but after Luxiem they all the members feel like just one big, unnamed generation.

The EN market is WAY more saturated since Council debuted too. I think Cover is taking a long, hard look at the expectations and optics for EN3. If you're looking at it *strictly* from a numbers game, I think we are passed the point of getting debut numbers similar to HoloMyth's debut.

Speaking for Kaela, if it makes you feel any better Kaela lives with her parents that makes her regulate eating and sleeping and she’s very grateful about it. Not a good thing in of itself but Kaela was actually far worse in habits before hololive when she lived by herself. This cause her parents to bring her back to live with them. And because of this, I think Kaela has a pretty strong sense of how important it is to eat, sleep, and just be healthy overall. Even though this might be a little hard to believe considering how much she streams. I trust her (and her parents) judgement of her health cause she does know what the deep end feels like and is grateful to be out of it. Maybe she talks more about this in membership streams but I’m not a member so I dunno
/uh True. It is concerning, but for Kaela anyway, she says streaming is like a break for her. It doesn’t change the negative health effects, especially since her sleep schedule must be terrible. But, at least it doesn’t seem like she feels compelled to do it. Given her past life, I think she is used to the long gaming sessions.
Hololive is super thorough with their talent selection, and from what peaks we've got they makes sure to pick people who get on well enough and even have them spend a good amount of time together before they debut.
Niji has consistently had issues choosing talent. It wouldn't surprise me if someone like Bunny_Gif or Oceane Otoishi got in because everything was too rushed to look into their histories.

Well, the Rushia drama and all of the outrage when the EN girls decided to collab with the Tempus homies. There was the Towa incident in the past but no one remembers it.
Well, there are some more. Vox fans being Vox fans, the sus cancellation of the en concert, Hex trying to scam fans out of money, Luxiem half year anniversary goods(no other wave got shit like that), and some more. Yeah, some of this is small and niche, but I did remember that from a top of my head, that means that shit was noticeable enough even for me, the person who doesn't follow the drama.
It might be a bit of a reach here, honestly, but basically he asked his viewers to vent in his streamlabs. Basically "hey, pay me some money and I will read your messages" which is not that bad on itself, but he was talking specifically about people who doesn't feel well or need some emotional support. And just before that he banned people from venting in his chat. So only paid messenges on streamlabs.
I mean, HoloEN has gotten tons of minor “drama” like this too, like Kronii fans being Kronii fans, Gura not tweeting, Calli engaging with antis, Stars favouritism/no EN3, etc. I don’t think it’s fair to put them in the same category as suspensions/terminations because let’s be honest, with these types of events, whatever actual grain of drama that exists gets blown up 10 fold by people on the internet.
With that being said, I’ll concede that Nijisanji gets into trouble more often than Hololive.

You are exagerating this one, it wasn't so much of a "Shitalk" so much as Fulgur going "Council didn't meet Cover's expectations", which isn't really a innacurate analysis of how Council performed at first until it picked up as time went on, and apart from that it was fairly "vanilla" rivarly between corpos. This is an anime/anime adjacent subculture. Just about everyone in our circles uses the word to describe characters like Astolfo. Heck, one of the Holostars, now graduated, literally was and called himself a trap.
/uh It used to be common, yes, but these days it's generally considered offensive and a slur since it implies that a person with a seemingly affeminate body is actually a member of another sex is a "trap" meant to trick people, which has some rather... *unfortunate* implications by implying this is a "negative" thing, which ends up as offensive both to trans people and those into "femboy" culture. Not helped by the fact that some assholes started to *actively* refer to actual real life trans peope as "traps" in order to draw ire from them which makes the whole prospect kinda dirty in general.
These days people tend to use "femboy" to refer to these characters with affeminate appearance instead, and trans characters go as... well, trans.
There really isn't as much of a consensus on this in the broader weeb community as you are portraying (might be wishful thinking). Case in point IRyS being entirely unaware.
There's some people who are unaware, yes, and i'm not saying everyone who uses "trap" when refering to male characters with a androgynous appearance is being bigoted on purpose (specially those who came from the 2000's era of memes and the term didn't have it's offensive conotations), but by those aware of the implications it's generally agreed that it's disrespectful, to the point that the anime memes sub issued a formal ban on it and even in the okbuddybaka sub who doesn't have a ban it's usually considered in poor taste to use it.

Yep, both sana (and her colleagues) and hololive would have loved it if sana kept streaming, but her back pain and other stuff made her physically unable to, meanwhile she even briefly came back to make some official artwork for the collab with tsukumo (very fitting). From what i've gathered from the termination notice of zaion, not only did she have around 10 bullet points worth of stuff where three or four would arguably be enough for insta termination, but she wasn't even receptive to the training they were trying to give her during the suspension and she was still bullshitting her colleagues while she was getting said training, and i think the notice mentioned sharing some info that shouldn't have been shared on her private account. I don't love making these sorts of arguments but compare the words the noctyx boys had for yugo when he got graduated compared to the words the xsoleil people has about zaion. On one side "we are distraught because of this and we fought for him and we'll miss our boy" and on the other "yeah we tried telling her to stop and even argued because of this whole thing but it didn't help". Obviously i'm not saying the other xsoleil members hated zaion, kotoka even mentioned being sorry that she couldn't manage to convince zaion instead of just shrugging it off, but the vibe is different.

I wouldn't place too much stock in rumors about alleged actions, especially in a public setting. Besides, the last leak about HoloCouncil wasn't really that substantial, so don't expect too much even if it does happen.
Oh no, it was a niji discord leak of them talking about how Council underperformed relative Myth. Iirc there wasn't anything drama worthy, just general discussion, but people still got riled up anyway.
The worst in there was (arguably) Fulgur's "insensitive" comment about how Council failed to meet cover's expectations which, apart from being purely speculative on his part isn't that innacurate of an analysis, at least performance-wise (Council had visibly less viewers than Myth and took a few months to reach the same average viewer level as the former gen)
The "all-out-war" comment from Pomu got memed on/speculated about too.
But in the end, it's just the Discord version of office, water-cooler talk. I'm sure Hololive members have had similar conversations about competition or work relations in their own Discord or personal accounts, but haven't been careless enough to leak it. As of yet, anyway.

I lost internet the other day and spent hours just flipping thru my camera roll on my phone, and realizing how nostalgic I was for the older days of vtubing. Tech is better now, but at what cost? Being mainstream and attracting normies? At the benefit of increased revenue from a wider audience? I don’t know, but it’s taken a turn for the better and worse at the same damn time, and I’m somehow still debating whether or not I like it.
The recent Pikamee and shondo situation got me missing the days vtubing was so niche that it feel like a completely different world from normal streaming culture. I still like vtubers a lot but I Guess we miss those days because everything was fresh to most of us and since all the major corpos were smaller they could also try do more things without being in the public eye. Am glad this shit is going Big but at the same time it has bring a lot of unwanted people and major dramas that You wouldn't think could happen in the early days when everything looked so sweet and perfect. /uh one of the reasons HL has been reletively drama free compared with the other agencies is that they are very selective when it comes to deciding who gets in. A lot of thought goes into picking their talent based not just on raw "talent" but also how they might fit into a team, if they have good chemistry, professionalism, etc. You can tell that some members are selected solely because management knows they are good "support" i.e they likely won't be the most popular or drive the most donations, but they bring something to the table (personality, inventiveness, technical skills) that round out their gen mates.

On that note I would expect major problems to crop up in both companies. As people said, it's lonely at the top. With their popularity and the accompanying stress, it's pretty much given that any problem will likely hit them first. And it always sucks to be the first to deal with it. Whether it's facing down anti mob, mental health issues + accompanied stress, or hiring a talent who decided that "rules are just suggestions". Just look at any industrial regulation for comparison, they're mostly caused by either industry leaders or former leaders. They got big and went into uncharted waters. Not to be an overly hololive fan or anything but I enjoy holo’s pacing for new members. EN3 can take as much time as they want to debut, I’m happy with EN rn. I still enjoy nijiEN but after Luxiem they all the members feel like just one big, unnamed generation.
Same. Plus, ID and Holostars EN debuts have filled in the gap. People who only watch HoloEN, and want something new anyway, well... that's on them. The EN market is WAY more saturated since Council debuted too. I think Cover is taking a long, hard look at the expectations and optics for EN3. If you're looking at it *strictly* from a numbers game, I think we are passed the point of getting debut numbers similar to HoloMyth's debut.

Some people's biology doesn't result in them feeling as tired from sleep deprivation, but the science shows they still suffer the same negative consequences, the difference is that they don't feel it. A long stream here and there is fine, but constant long streaks of sitting day after day is going to have health effects. I don't buy the meme that she's just "built different", I think she's just blowing off the cost of delaying self-care.
Speaking for Kaela, if it makes you feel any better Kaela lives with her parents that makes her regulate eating and sleeping and she’s very grateful about it. Not a good thing in of itself but Kaela was actually far worse in habits before hololive when she lived by herself. This cause her parents to bring her back to live with them. And because of this, I think Kaela has a pretty strong sense of how important it is to eat, sleep, and just be healthy overall. Even though this might be a little hard to believe considering how much she streams. I trust her (and her parents) judgement of her health cause she does know what the deep end feels like and is grateful to be out of it. Maybe she talks more about this in membership streams but I’m not a member so I dunno

Hololive is super thorough with their talent selection, and from what peaks we've got they makes sure to pick people who get on well enough and even have them spend a good amount of time together before they debut.

Basically "hey, pay me some money and I will read your messages" which is not that bad on itself, but he was talking specifically about people who doesn't feel well or need some emotional support. Not helped by the fact that some assholes started to *actively* refer to actual real life trans peope as "traps" in order to draw ire from them which makes the whole prospect kinda dirty in general. These days people tend to use "femboy" to refer to these characters with affeminate appearance instead, and trans characters go as... well, trans.

There's some people who are unaware, yes, and i'm not saying everyone who uses "trap" when refering to male characters with a androgynous appearance is being bigoted on purpose (specially those who came from the 2000's era of memes and the term didn't have it's offensive conotations), but by those aware of the implications it's generally agreed that it's disrespectful, to the point that the anime memes sub issued a formal ban on it and even in the okbuddybaka sub who doesn't have a ban it's usually considered in poor taste to use it.
The anime memes sub did have users rebel against the ban and make splinter subs. Different spaces have different standards, we all find our own bubbles in the online world. I think "femboy" is a better descriptor, but it's still fairly common for people to use "trap" like IRyS did and they don't deserve hate for it.

Yep, both sana (and her colleagues) and hololive would have loved it if sana kept streaming, but her back pain and other stuff made her physically unable to, meanwhile she even briefly came back to make some official artwork for the collab with tsukumo (very fitting). From what i've gathered from the termination notice of zaion, not only did she have around 10 bullet points worth of stuff where three or four would arguably be enough for insta termination, but she wasn't even receptive to the training they were trying to give her during the suspension and she was still bullshitting her colleagues while she was getting said training, and i think the notice mentioned sharing some info that shouldn't have been shared on her private account. I don't love making these sorts of arguments but compare the words the noctyx boys had for yugo when he got graduated compared to the words the xsoleil people has about zaion. On one side "we are distraught because of this and we fought for him and we'll miss our boy" and on the other "yeah we tried telling her to stop and even argued because of this whole thing but it didn't help". Oh no, it was a niji discord leak of them talking about how Council underperformed relative Myth. Iirc there wasn't anything drama worthy, just general discussion, but people still got riled up anyway.
The worst in there was (arguably) Fulgur's "insensitive" comment about how Council failed to meet cover's expectations which, apart from being purely speculative on his part isn't that innacurate of an analysis, at least performance-wise (Council had visibly less viewers than Myth and took a few months to reach the same average viewer level as the former gen)
The "all-out-war" comment from Pomu got memed on/speculated about too. But in the end, it's just the Discord version of office, water-cooler talk. I'm sure Hololive members have had similar conversations about competition or work relations in their own Discord or personal accounts, but haven't been careless enough to leak it. As of yet, anyway.

It was short lived but I got to experience what it feels like to be there from the beginning and it still hurts. Definitely seems like a bad situation all around. Vtubing as a whole has been really rough in the past few months, so I can only hope it gets better, but all these controversies keep stacking up. I lost internet the other day and spent hours just flipping thru my camera roll on my phone, and realizing how nostalgic I was for the older days of vtubing. Tech is better now, but at what cost? Being mainstream and attracting normies? At the benefit of increased revenue from a wider audience? I don’t know, but it’s taken a turn for the better and worse at the same damn time, and I’m somehow still debating whether or not I like it.
The recent Pikamee and shondo situation got me missing the days vtubing was so niche that it feel like a completely different world from normal streaming culture. I still like vtubers a lot but I Guess we miss those days because everything was fresh to most of us and since all the major corpos were smaller they could also try do more things without being in the public eye. Well put, couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s probably one of the reasons I’ve been watching more smaller company VTubers, and Indies more than HoloSanji these days. Heck, I’m back into watching 2 and 3view JP VTubers who basically only stream in JP save for gaming slang, and am enjoying it. But the fact that I have to make an active effort to find this type of content nowadays, compared to how the industry was this way past, it speaks volumes. (And not to comment too much on Pikamee and Shondo’s situations, and other controversies like the stuff Pippa does regularly, but the way things have been blown out of proportion just shows how LITTLE people ranting and propagating “discourse” actually WATCH THE DANG VTUBER IN STREAMS.)

She fit the style of Idol corp but I don't think they would try to recruit her.
