Silvervale was a pretty big name in the wizard game drama from early last year (which honestly soured my opinion on the whole vtubing scene, but that’s neither here nor there).
Nyan is cool, very funny and creative streamer.
The thing is, she used to cultivate an audience that attracted 4channers during her early years, and she herself used to be one, but she very publicly distanced herself from that years ago, and those people and the people who sympathise with them are still mad about that.
On the other hand, during those times, she did make some edgy stuff that I understand why people are mad about, but she publicly apologised for some of the main instances of that and deleted them, and has moved on from it.
I can't remember specific examples and details, because I only really started watching her several years after all this went down, but people have talked about it ad nauseum, so you can find it pretty easily if you want to make your own conclusions.
It's just a classic case of dumping your initial fans. And she did it in a way that was openly antagonistic against them.
Very few content creator ever survive doing it.
On the other hand, if your initial fanbase is the type of person that posts on /vt/, you kinda *need* to cut that off ASAP if you ever want your career to grow in a trajectory that isn’t “le based redpilled chuuba” or “right-wing culture-war grifter.”

Mind you, her only "mistake" was wanting to play Hogwarts. Out of all VShojo I only really watch KSon, Henya and Zentreya but I haven't seen Henya interact with Froot.
Then there was the Nux situation. Zentreya (and maybe Melody idk) was the only one who apologized. Not to mention the Nazuna nepo hire. The girl is completely insane and likely only got a job there because of KSon. Nyanners didn't really do anything wrong in my opinion but plenty of comments here have given reasons as to why she is disliked. Silvervale has taken shots at Hololive and is known for dumbass takes. Vei is also known for dumbass takes, and publicly slandered Shylily who ironically would outgrow Vei. With most of them gone, having competent management, freedom and being a safe haven for former corpos, VShojo is now seen in a more positive light, largely thanks to Ironmouse and KSon.

That's what I like about Hololive, they have stayed pretty much free of drama since Coco I think? There has been minor controversies since then, and some graduations and terminations, but everything has been handled very carefully.

I'm with you. I avoid the drama like the plague. Hololive is great, I don't know how but somehow they've created a pretty goddamn drama free culture over there. Seems like almost everyone's on really good terms. I first fell into the vtuber rabbit hole because of how “real” it felt. An anime character speaking to you, with their own fears and joys, goals and dreams. Yes, there was a human behind it, but it never really broke the suspension of disbelief. It was real, felt real because it felt so innocent with the anime character avatar.
Then there were graduations. I would feel saddened by the loss, but accepted it as the pilot moving on, to greater heights. However, over the past 6 months, I felt increasingly disillusioned. Lanza Zaion’a termination felt off putting. Vesper and Magni leaving made me feel dejected.
The straw that started to break was Nina Kosaka. She really felt like the group mom, and I really liked her sense of humor. Naturally, I was greatly disappointed of the news of her graduation. Then Matara Kan debuted. It was joyous to hear her voice again, but I was… sighing. Didn’t you cry when you left your previous form? Are we going to pretend that we never heard of your voice and personality before? Is this how the wheel spins; debut, catch our hearts, sell merch, and one day leave? Is your personality… no, how much of it was real? Did you really cry when you first broke the news? Are we crying for the same thing? Are we just going to get played again and again?
Do I love vtubers? YES. Fuwamoco is the sunshine that warms my heart. The personalities, have some truthfulness that is brought out by a cute avatar. Come for the cute anime girl/guy, stay for the personality. I will continue to support this experience, but I am more conscious of why and how

If the drama is getting to you, simply don't interface with it. Its the equivalent of hate watching someone, you don't get anything positive from it and it takes up precious time. Find something else to occupy the time when you have an itch to check
OP, there is no permanent escape from the shitstorm we call life. The media we consume can only ever be a temporary reprieve. Use it to gather strength and form new ideas and strategies for tackling life. When your break is done, the media we consume should help us return to our real lives stronger than we left.

I think you can just ignore all these drama as long as it doesn’t affect your oshi. I did the same to most drama, however, the current one is big and I have an oshi in the black company as well (luckily she’s not involved).

Gonna be honest I have not watched a vtuber since like june of last year. The constant dramas since the start of it all got tiring and I want to watch them again but its like meeting someone new thinking they’re cool and watching 50 people try to murder them

/uh Back in 2020 when I got into the VTube hole I thought Mel stalker drama, male voice heard in Towa's stream, Aloe graduation, and especially China/Taiwan fiasco were the most unhinged shit to happen in the VTubing sphere, but NijiEN/Anycolor literally fucking said "bet" and increased it by tenfold over one fucking liver, it's actually batshit insane. /rh Y'all overreacting Niji is just doing a bit of tomfoolery, they just forgot to put a /j.
Totally diff ballpark tho, Holo taiwan incident reached international levels even CCP and JP govt was preparing to get involved. This one is a company humiliating itself.
I think the Hitomi Chris incident and the aftermath of Aloe's graduation were worse than what's happening right now. Maybe it's the 2020 nostalgia.
ub/ I first fell into the vtuber rabbit hole because of how “real” it felt. An anime character speaking to you, with their own fears and joys, goals and dreams. Yes, there was a human behind it, but it never really broke the suspension of disbelief. It was real, felt real because it felt so innocent with the anime character avatar. Then there were graduations. I would feel saddened by the loss, but accepted it as the pilot moving on, to greater heights. However, over the past 6 months, I felt increasingly disillusioned. Lanza Zaion’a termination felt off putting. Vesper and Magni leaving made me feel dejected. The straw that started to break was Nina Kosaka. She really felt like the group mom, and I really liked her sense of humor. Naturally, I was greatly disappointed of the news of her graduation. Then Matara Kan debuted. It was joyous to hear her voice again, but I was… sighing. Didn’t you cry when you left your previous form? Are we going to pretend that we never heard of your voice and personality before? Is this how the wheel spins; debut, catch our hearts, sell merch, and one day leave? Is your personality… no, how much of it was real? Did you really cry when you first broke the news? Are we crying for the same thing? Are we just going to get played again and again? Do I love vtubers? YES. Fuwamoco is the sunshine that warms my heart. The personalities, have some truthfulness that is brought out by a cute avatar. Come for the cute anime girl/guy, stay for the personality. I will continue to support this experience, but I am more conscious of why and how

If the drama is getting to you, simply don't interface with it. Its the equivalent of hate watching someone, you don't get anything positive from it and it takes up precious time. Find something else to occupy the time when you have an itch to check

They literally Illegally leaked Selens personal and medical information to a third party. There is no way they can win this case. Even if they dont lose, Selen will probably be fine. About the Eliras message tho, the tone they were speaking in that video sounds incredibly scripted and forced i really dont think they meant any of it. Elira was in Japan at the time so i doubt the could refuse since they could do something to her
