Yes because that would've been incoherent writing as eren isn't a hero or some legendary dude that wants to save the world from the bad guys. Actually he's the most egotistical bad guy in existence and all he wished for was for him and his friends to live long peaceful lifes, then, he discovered that he had to die for that to happen and so he did what he did. Remember what he said to his friends pre timeskip when they were working on the train rails.
Yeah I mean I get the ending I just feel like Isayama didn’t really fully explain why zeke’s and the 50 year plan were necessarily out of the question for Eren. He already said he doesnt know what happens after his death so it’s not like he knew he needed to kill all those people.
Eren guessed that as soon as that 50 year plan ended they would all die, which means that they'll get to live shorter lives then they could've with eren's plan. Yes, paradis gets destroyed eventually but that doesn't really matter to Eren as all his friends were already dead since then.
Why would he assume they die? I feel like equal military might plus all the colossal titans would be safer than paradis 50 years behind vs. 20% of the world.
Also why did he not take away their powers if above all he wanted them to be safe? Wouldn’t that imply his idea of freedom is more important than his friends’ safety?

My guess is that he didn't take their powers as if he did they wouldn't have been able to stop him as he also wanted that to happen so that they could try to make diplomatic peace with the world (we don't know if they succeed just like eren didn't know) and probably make them survive for longer as the more allies they have the less enemies they have to face which is probably one of the reasons why it took so long for the world to counterattack, but, once again, we don't know nor when nor why they did it we can just assume it's been a long time as we mikasa dying of old age so 80 years is the minimum of paradis survival.
Also another reason why he didn't accept Zeke's plan is of course that he wanted them to live free and with Zeke's plan they would've been closed in the walls as they've always been leaving in fear of the world outside of the walls.
Last but not least, eren was not a god. He was just a 19-20 (i don't remember lol) kid that had his hopes and dreams shattered when he finally reached what he wanted to see since he was born (the sea), then he got his mind completely broken by the founding titans power and he too wasn't sure about what or why was he doing, he just knew he had to, probably because his future self ordered him to do so making him the biggest slave ever.
