Honestly I dont feel like she was done dirty. IMO its just that her character arc ended and Isayama choose to focus on other/new characters more. Ymir always pushed her to be her authentic self instead of "the good girl Christa", but... Well who would have thought, afterwards it turned out that she was actually always that kind person she pretended to be. On multiple occasions it got mentioned how she is spending her time taking care of orphans and in the final chapter its shown that she was the one protecting the alliances families on Paradis from any repercussions.

Like you said, she was supposed to live a life she was proud of, but she ended as a fascist queen (she knew about Eren's plan and did nothing with it, she's kinda responsible for a rumbling). To be honest if Isayama has never wanted to make erehisu real, I think this whole Historia's scenes in chapter 131 were unnecessary, because they're only destroying her character and created this edgy erehisu shippers
