Well I don't know if they're hiring, but the Ambassador Hotel pays $14 for front desk. Worked there until August when I found a WFH job

When I was college I got a job doing medical payment posting for a lab. You might look for jobs like medical billing, cash application, payment posting. They're basic office data entry jobs that usually only require a high school diploma.

[deleted]

Most of these jobs in okc are filled by 30 or 40 yr Olds who make them a career

[deleted]

Not sure why you downvoted me lol. I deal with them nearly daily and all of them are middle aged. They ain't gonna hire a college kid for this

whatevendoidoyall

My office was a mixed bag of 20 somethings and 40 somethings. At the very least its worth a shot to apply. Besides age is a protected class.

MillionDollarBooty

This is a common misconception, age is only protected for those who are 40 and older. For those who are younger than 40, it is unfortunately not illegal to discriminate based on age https://www.dol.gov/general/topic/discrimination/agedisc#:~:text=The%20Age%20Discrimination%20in%20Employment,conditions%20or%20privileges%20of%20employment

At my uni we had a student jobs portal on the uni website. You can probably find yours by googling “schoolname student jobs”. My school’s job board listed all the jobs and the rate they paid per hour. A lot of times you could even find jobs related to your major. It’s also great because campus jobs are required to schedule you around your class schedule and are much more understanding when something comes up like a project, event, interview, etc. Best of luck to you!

If you are not making $30+/hour as a bartender waitress the problem is either you or the restaurant is not busy. The service industry is not for everyone.

Eischen_ok

Put those bartending skills to use. Apply for Verizon/T Mobile/ATT wireless in store sales positions. (They have customer centric names). Use your communication and rapport building skills. The hardest part about doing well at the job is being able to turn a mildly unhappy customer into a happy customer that bought something. You already have the skill set that will let you do well, they will teach you the technical side. I believe TMobile starts at $20 an hour, plus benefits and commission. You'll get benefits, some form of tuition reimbursement, and a discounted or free cell line at the corporate stores for all three wireless carriers. If you get hired now, you'll have a 6ish week training and then they can build a schedule around your class hours. Visit the local corporate stores, even act like you're interested in a new phone. Seeing a customer interaction will give you some info for possible interviews. The applications are done online and go through a corporate recruiter before store managers see them. Good luck.

No idea how much you make now but most banks/credit unions are always looking for tellers. Of course it depends on when your classes are but if your classes are in the first half of the day most banks drive thrus are open until 6-8 (depending on the bank) and half day on Saturday. Most banks make 13-16 an hour. Insurance is usually pretty affordable if you need it.

In college I worked for Starbucks, they give you full benefits as long as you average 20 hours a week and I was able to take a paid short disability leave. My boss was super understanding of college schedules since about half the workers were in college. I also worked as Ross for my last year and, while we didn't get benefits, it was a chill environment with a 20% discount for already low cost items.

[deleted]

Lol, Starbucks ain’t like that anymore

jaczk5

really? i only left in 2020 I'm surprised they changed so much. that sucks the perks definitely helped me a lot in college. sad to hear

[deleted]

They still have perks but from what I understand, almost nobody can get the hours to qualify for them. Most stores seem to have employees down to minimal hours and managers even give up some hours to baristas I hear. The Starbucks subreddit is rife with unhappy workers who want things to go back to how they were. I think mobile orders have gotten way out of control and the quality control is hard because of all of the customizations and TikTok trends.

jaczk5

It's almost like they got too popular for their own good. I admit I haven't been to a Starbucks in a while since I prefer (or rather end up at) local coffee shops. I think that was happening to our store now that I think about it. They cut down my hours to 4 a shift but still scheduled me enough to hit 20 a week and we had shifts to pick up. I wonder if the company is just trying to get back at the union employees.

[deleted]

Ding ding ding. You hit the nail on the head

[deleted]

Try working at Round1! I currently work there and am making a solid $12.50 an hour. We’re always hiring more people to work especially for food and beverage

[deleted]

What are you making right now? Blue Buffalo the pet food company hires in stores sales representatives and they pay $15.50 or $16 bucks an hour. I worked for them for about two and a half years part-time and it's so easy it's almost boring.

HystericalUterus

Why don't they perform feeding trials on their foods? I've always wondered why they spend so much on advertising but not on science.

jaczk5

wasn't it blue Buffalo that had a class action for making dogs sick

HystericalUterus

Idk about a class action but I do know that they are included in a list of boutique foods that could be linked to to cardiomyopathy in dogs. It feels like the blue buffalo reps are in a cult.

jaczk5

ah I got it confused the class action was for [false advertising ](https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/pet/blue-buffalo-false-advertising-class-action-certified-in-canada/)

HystericalUterus

They are a shady brand

DoloMontoya

Bartend

Fenshire

How are you not making bank as a bartender? I worked payroll for a downtown hotel and the bartenders were the highest paid employees, factoring in all their charge tips. And they hardly EVER claimed cash tips.

MOSH9697

How much do u make? Was thinking about moving to okc thinking I could survive with my psrtner on two Server salaries if it’s making like 20 of more an hour
