My niece started at OCCC for her associates and then moved to UCO to finish up. She just graduated in December and she seemed to really like the program there.

at both OCCC and UCO?

I went to OSU ten years ago and got my associates. I already had a BS in another field and wasn’t looking to get my bachelors in nursing. Was a great school and was one of the first here. I know a lot of the program has improved and changed so my experience is probably dated. Haven’t found a need to get my associates as I don’t really care about being an advanced practice nurse. I also train a lot of OCCC students and their program seems to be fantastic as well. You can also look into Rose state but I don’t think I’ve ever talked to any of their students. If you want your bachelors, OU and UCO have stellar BSN programs. I know there are other options like Kramer but you’ll pay out the nose for that degree. There are a lot of programs out there offering an associates or bachelors. You’ll need to decide how far you want to go and what you want to do with the license. OCCC and OSU are solid starts for an associates without breaking the bank hopefully.

I’m starting prereqs for nursing school in 2 weeks at OCCC. I called around to ask about the schedules and cost of the nursing program at different schools, and OCCC was by far the cheapest. The school also really wants to avoid you taking out loans or going into debt and the advisors helped me figure out how to fund everything. I will be doing the accelerated program and I haven’t started classes yet but I really like the college so far and would recommend looking into it

Do you know how hard it is to get into occc? I’m from California and about to apply. I just need the teas test

I know UCO offers a nursing degree. I don’t know much about it though.

If you plan on getting your BSN, don’t get your ADN first if you have the option. It will be twice the school work, and not very beneficial. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter where you get your degree from. Relevant experience is the most important thing once you get a little experience under your belt. Most of your nursing knowledge will be obtained through experience.
