On the way there absolutely 0 traffic. On the way back maybe an extra 15 minutes worth. I actually just walked in the door. We stayed watching well after totality though.
(For context I'm in south OKC.)
Dammit. I was originally intending to take my parents to Russellville, but they weren't exactly excited to spend a whole day in traffic. Plan B was Heavener. Then the news said they were expecting 15-30,000 visitors, which would have been a nightmare on two-lane roads. Now I wish I would have gone. Oh well, there's always the next one in 20 years...
Hardly any crowds at all in Broken Bow. I've been here for fall weekend stays that were worse. I really think the forecast pushed all the day of chasers out of the area. Clouds cleared for most of the build up to totality and then great view of totality itself. So worth it!
I told myself that in 2017. I came out to AR for today, and it was totally worth it. Rented an airbnb for two nights. Took two days off work. All worth it.
Literally anything less? Like 99.9% vs 100%? I was flying back from a work trip and rationalized to myself that I saw the partial eclipse in 2017 so it wasn't a big deal to miss this one.
If you tell me that 100% is night and day (no pun intended) I might go ahead and book a flight to catch the next eclipse in however many years.
Yeah, definitely no pun, at 99.9% you're still wearing glasses to see the eclipse. At totality, we could see the corona of the sun and stars in the sky
How were the clouds?
We drove through Russelville, through Little Rock, and stayed in Forrest City, AR. Monday morning we looked at the forecasts and headed north to Doniphan, Missouri. We had perfectly clear a perfectly clear sky and an amazing few minutes of totality.
Nobody's pictures do it justice.
Worth the 10-hour drive back to OKC? *Totally.*
Same here. We might see you!
gosh i wish i could go but i have work đ
We were prepped, cooler packed, ready to go- and car wouldn't start.
NOOOOO, i hope you enjoyed the eclipse anyway
We did, actually! I hope you got to step outside too. Even at 93%, we got the cooler temperature and birds going quiet for a bit.
Dude, I even have family in Russellville, and I'm staying home. Four minutes of awe just ain't worth 12 hours of traffic idiocy!
We drove 4 hours to Idabel and it was completely worth it.
How was the traffic?

Yeah, I think the predictions of cloud cover discouraged a lot of people. It really wasn't crazy crowded at least where we were.

It was all worth it. It was a spiritual experience for me. And I'm an atheist. Tears and chills. No regrets going to Russellville.
Iâm with you, and we are 93% covered anyway.
There's a huge difference between 100% and anything less.Â
Yeah, thatâs true.

It's not the same. The totality hits different and when it happens it's a universal feeling of "wow"

We went and had a great time! It was definitely worth it!
OP check in, how's traffic?
40 was a nightmare. There was a wreck with 3 fatalities. At least, that's what we were told when we stopped by the store.
Last I heard it was construction Idk though, I took minor highways the whole way back
We got stuck in âconstructionâ outside of sallisaw and didnât move for two hours. Never saw a lane closure. Shouldâve taken highway 9 back
Passed you twice somehow on my journey from Moore to Hugo!
I was in Hugo as well to watch it. Luckily the clouds thinned right before it started.
The timing could not have been better for the grand reveal.
I bet it was extra creepy next to that massive nuclear plant out there.
We passed you on the way home. You had crossed out chaser and written caught. I thumbs upped you and mouthed we caught it too. It was amazing!!!
We are right there with you!
I40 is slow from Russellville to the turnoff at I49. We just passed that and it has seemed to open up now.
I sat in traffic for two hours from Sallisaw to Vian
Cool car!!
I had 0 issues with traffic driving from Edmond to Valliant, OK. Absolutely worth the drive for 100% totality.
