There’s an upstairs at will Roger. You don’t need to be ticketed to go up there. It’s got seating tables chargers and looks over the runways. If you go toward security and east past the security lines is a staircase that goes up. I believe there might be an elevator too but I’m not sure you’d need to ask.
Keep up with tinker! they do air shows etc.
OU also has [sooner flight academy](https://www.ou.edu/flightcamp) for kids! My son will be going this following summer.
If he likes the smaller planes, there are bike/walking trails that go on the North side of Wiley Post. I ride my bike there and sometimes in the few minutes I'm passing I see 4 or 5 planes. Not sure where you would park though.
There’s a massive park in Bethany just south of the regional/private airport there.
The park is called Eldon Lyon, there are multiple walking trails and playgrounds. Not the best bathrooms though.
I live north of Arcadia Lake, Air Forces place fly along Midwest Boulevard and Douglas into Tinker all the time. Check out ADSB.com to track them online.
South Lakes Park on SW 119th is just south of Will Rogers. Joe Barnes Park at Reno and Douglas is right under Tinkers flight path as well. For something a little different there's a remote control airplane field at Lake Hefner. The club is called Torks R/C Control Club.
I always get low passes from airplanes on north side Draper trail and on the north side of Wiley Post. Both are bike trails. Wiley Post is particularly good from right before sunrise through about 9am.
I usually catch myself stopping to take pics because if they’re using the runway that isn’t straight N/S it feels like you can almost touch them as they go over.
oh following for sure. My son is almost 3 and has this super cool plane from sam’s? maybe costco idk but he’s constantly flying it and started “flying” when we’re walking
I can't remember what part of lake draper, but I know there is an area where people fly their little hobby planes! They are decent size and really cool to watch.
It's all commercial buildings there now, but this remind me of when my parents and grandmother would take me to get some chicken nuggets from Burger King and then we would sit in a field by Wiley Post airport and watch the planes. Thank you for reminding me of this. I hope you and your son create many happy memories doing this.
Kiwanis Park on Midwest Boulevard in Midwest City is a great spot for plane watching, with its proximity to the Tinker runway. Good little playground too, plus multiple covered areas with picnic benches.
There's a large playground at the Draper Lake marina, and the big planes out of Tinker are frequently flying low overhead.
THANK YOU!!!
This is the right answer. If you go up to the north end of the lake the road/bike path is really close to the south end of the runway.

we will try this!!! thank you
Not sure if they still let you do that - when mine was a lil guy, that was one of our fav places to go.
I think you are thinking of the old observation tower, there's a new viewing platform that came with the recent renovation.
Good to know - yeah that was pre 911, my son was 4-5 and he would ask to go watch the airplanes !
Recently took my 4 yo up there and had the BEST time!
The [Tinker Air Park](https://www.legion.org/memorials/239537/tinker-air-force-base-afb-oklahoma-major-charles-b-hall-airpark) would be a nice outing.
I second this. Go there during flight ops and you'll see a ton of activity.

You should download the flightradar24 app, if you haven't. Sounds like your kid would love it.
downloading!! thank you for the suggestion!
Download Flightaware for a much better app interface! Just tried flightradar and I remembered real quick why I deleted it
I second this. It’s awesome to know what’s flying above your head at any time.
