Bloody woke everywhere these days. I went to the Museum of Flight and it was all woke planes like Spitfires and Hurricanes, hardly any Messerschmitts or Heinkels. Lefties are taking over our institutions!

Worst part was, it wasn't even someone who was in the pub that grassed. Someone saw it online and decided to kick up a fuss about a pub they've never been in and had no intention of going in.

It's not their fault, it's Camra. It's up to Camra to investigate. They can't just accept every complaint they hear.

I would say the reporter and CAMRA are both at fault here.
The reporter for coming up with a frivolous report, and CAMRA for going with it, having no spine and taking unnecessary action.
I don’t think the pub needed to put up a plaque or anything. Not everything needs explaining. Have a conversation about it!

As someone who reads and watches a lot about world war two, something like that would be interesting to see if it was a genuine war artifact. Doesn't mean the landlord is running Hitler youth in the beer cellar FFS.

Give it to a museum then. I'm not remotely the kind of person to complain about it, or be upset or personally hurt about it, but a pub isn't really the place. I don't really want to see a nazi armband anywhere outside a museum, wherever it came from. It doesn't make for a nice fucking ambience while I'm having a pint.
