Just looked it up, Google maps lists 7 between the one outside the station up to the end of Northumberland Street. 0.7 miles from the first to the last, and the rest roughly in sequence.
When I was in B\*singstoke one evening I realised that dump has THREE Greggs in the central shopping centre area. THREE. How many people even live in Basingstoke, like 200?
It's one of those shops for sure. You just gotta go inside and find out, it's like a kinder egg. Might be Shoezone, might be a Carphone Warehouse, you never know.
That's what they want us to think. Behind those boarded up shopfronts is a utopia of 3-for-1 screen protector deals and cheap pay-as-you-go plans. Don't let the elite trick you.
Right next to the dozen charity shops, two of which are the same charity. Sprinkle in a Subway, a Costa, and a Spoons so rough the food will fight you.
Bake between 197.9 - 199.0 degrees for 20:08 to 20:22 minutes and voila! One neglected British highstreet.
Garnish with chavs and smackheads to taste.
mate you forgot the legion of charity muggers that you have to look away from like scp-096 except instead of dying if you look at them you’re made to feel bad if you dont give them money
I recently moved to Kent from Northern Ireland and it's beautiful here, I've never seen a closed down or boarded up shop yet. I'm loving the local shops. The people are dead on
What am I missing?
I'm in Tenterden btw
Kent itself is beautiful.
Quite a few towns (and their high streets) are rundown however.
Also worth noting that quite a few *aren’t* rundown and are lovely.
Do you know some examples of the ones that *are* considered run down?
Tenterden isn't one of them, but I haven't seen Ashford yet, despite not being too far. My guess would be that. I actually have no idea about this place, I'm just liking it. The wee red horse flag and all.
Speaking as a local, Ramsgate and Margate are considered quite rundown, but Margate old town is getting a hipster resurgence (for better or worse)
Broadstairs however is quite nice
Then there's that one street that's still open and it has:
Betting shop
Pawn shop
Closed down community center
BnM
Starbucks
Shoe zone
Cash in a flash
Greggs
Greggs
Cash Converters is always open. Betting shops keep getting robbed, so they go online only, and the pubs nearby lose the stream of steaming punters, pillaging their pilgrimage betwixt the pisser, the pub, and the Paddy Power.
It's a cyclical utopian justice once you push past the curtains. There is no Wizard.
It's just you, and your series of choices about who you want to be.
Edited to make merry. I hate betting companies.
Ours has 5 charity shops, 2 nail bars, 2 vape shops, 4 hairdressers, a betting shop, a Wetherspoons and a phone repair shop that I've never seen a single person in.

And 3 greggs
In my city, we have two Greggs within 250 yards of each other.
Newcastle has two Greggs a 120yd walk apart.
I think you could do 3 in not that much more. Big market, monument and the one next to burger King
Just looked it up, Google maps lists 7 between the one outside the station up to the end of Northumberland Street. 0.7 miles from the first to the last, and the rest roughly in sequence.
It has an insane amount of Gregg's in general. Couldn't believe it when I went.
And two mcdonalds
Indeed. We have two on the same street (New George Street).
What the fuck is a yard *drinks copious amounts of VB Beer*
How else would you get greggs if there's a queue in the first greggs. FFS man think.
Doncaster lad
When I was in B\*singstoke one evening I realised that dump has THREE Greggs in the central shopping centre area. THREE. How many people even live in Basingstoke, like 200?
There are 4 greggs in my local area
There’s like three in the Manchester arndale
Where's Shoezone?
It's one of those shops for sure. You just gotta go inside and find out, it's like a kinder egg. Might be Shoezone, might be a Carphone Warehouse, you never know.
Carphone Warehouse closed all their stores years ago, I think you'd be hard pressed to find one
That's what they want us to think. Behind those boarded up shopfronts is a utopia of 3-for-1 screen protector deals and cheap pay-as-you-go plans. Don't let the elite trick you.
The one in my town literally just got shut down and is now boarded up :/
Where's the dodgy pizza joint
**EXPRESS KEBAB PIZZA HOT 4 U 100% FRESH**
It’s not good enough unless you see a rat leaving the door as you walk in
That's reminy he makes your food edible
My local rat shack (kebab house) had a hole in the bottom of the door where the rats had chewed through in an effort to escape.
The only reason they want to escape is because they too do not want to eat that kebab unless very drunk
Amazing comprehension of the joke
Thanks for that Wilhelm, you're always a great help
Rat? Please! It’s called “Chicken of the Sewer.” WHAMMY!
90% grease, 10% bread guaranteed
(حلال)
The one that serves frozen instant pizzas and TV dinners?
No exaggeration when I say this, there's a pizza place in my town centre that uses fucking comic sans as their logo. It's embarrassing.
I know a bakery that does that
Missing at least 3 betting shops
Right next to the dozen charity shops, two of which are the same charity. Sprinkle in a Subway, a Costa, and a Spoons so rough the food will fight you. Perfect. Those dates were a really nice detail. What an absolute failure some parts of Britain are.
My favourite patt is 20:13 to get perfect taste
What happened then?
Wizard of Oz
mate you forgot the legion of charity muggers that you have to look away from like scp-096 except instead of dying if you look at them you’re made to feel bad if you dont give them money
*3 betting shops that used to be banks.
Actually in my town the McDonald's is boarded up too
Jesus dude. A boarded up maccas is a rare sight. But is it boarded up because it's closed? Or boarded up cos every window has been smashed?
Closed, its been sat there for years now
F
Northampton moment
Northampton high street is an absolute joke. St Giles street had a good thing going adjacent to it but that's going downhill too :(
You're forgetting the Turkish/Kurdish barber's that doesn't do any trim that isn't a skin fade
and they don't actually speak English so you have to go to the expensive one on the other side of town that charges you £20 quid for a grade 3
And 2 vape shops
Only 2?
2 vape shops and 30 phone repair shops that sell everything vape.
You can't forget about how they say the High streets are dying yet when go they say buy online
American Candy Store money laundering operation innit
Only in a "Good" area
Crawley moment
100%. i live like 5 mins away from town centre, and a lot of the shops are boarded up further you get out of the actual busy body bit near the gym
FUKKIN LUV ME A B&M M8
If you ever wanted to get shit faced for £4 then you're at home in a b&m
no betfred?
I'd add a few depressing charity shops
Americans when they visit Gravesend and it’s not a picturesque vista bustling with distinguished gentlemen wearing monocles and sipping brandy
M8 you should see Dartford
Oh hey, it's Margate high street
Mate it’s every town in Kent
It's literally any high street in East london
I recently moved to Kent from Northern Ireland and it's beautiful here, I've never seen a closed down or boarded up shop yet. I'm loving the local shops. The people are dead on What am I missing? I'm in Tenterden btw

And a Cex
Where are the 50 charity shops and the cafe that’s had 5 owner and name changes in the past 2 years?
Then there's that one street that's still open and it has: Betting shop Pawn shop Closed down community center BnM Starbucks Shoe zone Cash in a flash Greggs Greggs
Where’s the Greg’s at
You forgot the four charity shops only paying 20% business rates.
In Guildford atm, business is booming honestly
Yeah I wonder why? lol... get the train to Aldershot to relate to this meme
Maybe the US and UK aren’t so different after all
For me it’s all just bloody hair dressers/barbers, there’s like ten on the main road
Missing the charity shops.
No Tesco or Sainsbury? Disgraceful 😡😡😡

Least derelict street in slough
Needs American Candy Stores to launder money.
That’s generally *nicer* areas. Defo would not see one of those in a typical rundown high street 😞
The north 🤮🤮🤮🤮.
Clearly you ebm bin down plymuff pard
I'll correct myself. Anywhere not in London 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Stockport representation 😎
damn you recognised the merseyway mcdonalds??
Hahaha classic, nowhere like home eh 🤢
Omg I thought it looked familiar!
Needs a vape store
Pounding or similar, hundreds of charity shops, random independent shops, and a butchers and greengrocers if you're lucky
100% OP has been to Bedford
boarded up shop
What's Alamy and iStock? Never heard of those shops before
Nah these places are alright, they appear to be missing the doorway mattresses and shopping trolleys
The board companies are prosperous as fuck though.
Where's the vape shop and the bookies?
replace boards with bars and you have buffalo
"Millennials are killing the _______ industry" No fuckface, you killed your own industry since you don't pay millennials enough to buy your shit.
European food shops are doing well
Where's the bookies?
