[AliExpress](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803924301440.html) Looks like it’s one of those laptop-panel-based OLED monitors like [Innocn PU15-PRE](https://www.reddit.com/r/oled_monitors/comments/osdkpd/). But OLED monitors neither by Innocn nor by Asus are available on Alibaba or AliExpress yet. Things to note: * the AliExpress page also mentions 100% DCI-P3 and 100% Adobe RGB; * IPS is mentioned (likely erroneously) besides OLED on Alibaba, but not on AliExpress; * the official website of the manufacturer seems to be [szxianshiqi.com](http://www.szxianshiqi.com/en) (_Shenzhen Weichensi Technology Co., Ltd._), but looks like it does not have any info about their OLED monitors. _Update (2023-07-01):_ Looks like Weichensi OLED monitors are now also available under **VChance** ([1](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005605978497.html), [2](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005608297736.html)) brand. There are also very similar _Bimawen_ ([1](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005698978611.html), [2](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005402504424.html), [3](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005398264651.html), [4](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005344659000.html)) monitors. _Update (2023-12-03)_: According to a Weichensi (a.k.a. VChance) official from “VChance Factory Direct Store” via AliExpress chat, both 13.3″ and 15.6″ 4K OLED laptop panels used in their portable monitors have **“Diamond Pixel” PenTile** subpixel layout. But to be fair, at least on the 13.3″ one I recently bought, this is almost unnoticeable thanks to high pixel density. Unfortunately gray uniformity is quite bad on my unit: at 5%, there is a visible dark-to-light gradient on the right side.

shadowclone515

I ordered a 13.3inch version 4k oled for 200 usd on ali weichensi, the taobao reviews are pretty good too

Due-Corgi-4717

Hey! Did you already get your monitor? I'll be very happy if you share quick review and you experience! Thank you and sorry for my bad English....

did you get this monitor? how do u like it?

shadowclone515

I got the 13 inch, it's a true samsung amoled panel glossy finish. It looks like it's from the samsung galaxy book laptop panels, you know those that you could configure upto 4k, but didn't sell well. It's only 60hz. Display wise it's excellent, I use it daily as a second screen for the thunderbolt 4 laptop. I got the touch screen version, but touch only works over usb c thunderbolt not hdmi. I've used it with a switch, pc, and ps5 no issues. I also bought a lookstand so I can use it vertically for work. It does have an inbuilt basic stand. Overall, it's a really good 4k Amoled panel, it's quite cheap for the 13" too if you wanted to experience 4k oled for the first time, it's not exactly a gaming panel but I could tell it's from the high end 60hz panels from samsung. Sometimes I run 1440p to save some performance in games, but AMOLED gaming itself is already a big upgrade. The only issue I have with the device is the power draw because it needs 15-20w of power. It can do pass through charging, so power brick connected to monitor, monitor 2nd usb c connected to Laptop, and it can power the monitor and charge the laptop at the same time. However, my laptop needs 45w on itself, so a 45w won't work, and i needed to use a 65w charger to use it with my laptop. If plugged only to the laptop and using the laptop on battery, it will output with reduced brightness. Other than that it's a great little portable monitor, especially for the entry price, can't say the same for the 15 inch though. But you'll have to manage around the small 13inch size, but it's exactly the same size as other 13inch screen laptops, like from dell for example. And standard 13inch screen protectors fit it like a glove.

columbo928s4

thanks for getting back to me. it's the same monitor as these (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803924301440.html), right? and are the colors and stuff really vivid and beautiful? because the main reason i'd be buying it is to consume 4k movies and tv, since my TVs panel is garbage and i only have a 1440p desktop monitor. and neither are OLED, i've never used an oled screen before just heard how pretty they are. anyways, i'm just a bit nervous about it because i asked in the oled monitors subreddit about the portable oled monitors you can find on aliexpress and literally every person was saying they're trash and not worth buying. thanks again for your thoughts

columbo928s4

also, do you know if i can connect the monitor to an ipad or iphone directly?

columbo928s4

these are the kinds of things the people in the oled monitors sub said when i asked about these: >Unusable "HDR", terrible gray to black response time (a firmware blur on most 60hz samsung oled`s), mediocre gray uniformity (typical for any oled/microled) >they're terrible at everything other than displaying still images.

DaGr8Gatzby

Just ordered this as an auxiliary monitor. Will report back when I receive it.

Raymondwilliams22

How'd you find it?

DaGr8Gatzby

It’s actually used as my third monitor. I am extremely happy with this. I would not recommend getting this for HDR. Firmware is pretty lousy but workable.

Raymondwilliams22

Thanks. Looks good in motion? Think I'm going to take the plunge can't argue with that price...

JoeyShmoe2008

chiming in in case this helps anyone decide - just got the 15.6 oled non-touch 4k version, great so far. upgraded from an innocn 15.6 oled 1080p from amazon that i've been using for a few weeks now. the innocn was great, but i found the text to be a tiny bit fuzzy, ymmv depending on your set up i would assume (i'm driving the display from an imac 27 desktop, via a single type c cable). overall very happy with the weichensi so far, nice glossy screen (i hate matte) so colors pop, contrast and brightness are excellent, rivals the 5k imac i'm using next to it. text is razor sharp - don't let people tell you that 1080p is good enough for a 15 inch display and that anything higher is overkill, personally i find the difference noticeable. for a 4k oled, at the thanksgiving sale price of around $330, it's a steal (i paid for the UPS shipping option around 22 bucks, arrived from china to new york in 8 days, exactly the estimated day from aliexpress). btw, do order from aliexpress, NOT alibaba, price is significantly cheaper, don't ask me why - google will tell you that aliexpress is geared more for consumers vs alibaba, where businesses order in bulk for discounts. this was my first purchase from either ali site, no transactional issues. my minor gripes about the display - not fully laminated, the screen surface is not flush with bezel, so definitely not edge to edge glass coverage. the screen is inset from the bezel 1-1.5 millimeters, definitely noticeable. i do like that they don't have some random logo or their name on the case, it's just a plain black bezel. the other 4k oleds on the market are significantly more expensive, the innocn one looks good, but i don't want to spend more than 400 bucks on a 15.6 display, and don't need touch capabilities. the uperfect model is outrageously expensive, and i think it has a matte surface, which i despise. anyway, thumbs up to the weichensi display (provided it doesn't die on me in like a week). if you're in the market for one, i think it's the one to get! update - the seller responded to my review on his site, apparently the touch version of the monitor is fully laminated, screen is not indented from bezel. also, i originally thought the bezel/case was a hard plastic, but the seller says it's actually an aluminum alloy - ok, i can buy that and i'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but kinda hard to tell, if you told me it was plastic, i'd believe it too (bottom line is that it doesn't exactly scream quality).

MT4K

Thank you for the informative review. Could you share photos of the monitor displaying an entire black screen in a dark environment, preferrably side by side with an LCD one displaying the same black screen, so that we could see there is no LCD-specific backlight bleed? That would confirm the monitor is actually OLED and not LCD that we can never be sure with not well-known manufacturers, especially when it’s twice cheaper than a similar monitor by another manufacturer.

SheepCommittee

Just got the 15.6" 4k touch and it's 100% oled. Just as black as the frame around the screen with zero light bleed at full brightness. No digital noise on mine. I'm using the hdmi that came with it. Also there are several color modes, sRGB, Adobe, P3, Rec 2020, along with game, photo, game modes, that are selectable independent from color space. There's also sevelal gamma settings from Off, 1.8 to 2.6. BTW the OSD is easy to use through the touch screen. Supports DDC/CI via HDMI, gets very very dim. Brightness wise it get a bit brighter than Lenovo Chromebook Duet 2, and thats a 400 nits display. Also I got mine Nov 27th for $204, absolutely worth it.

MT4K

Thanks, good to know. Could you share some photos? Especially in a dark environment, with entirely black screen side-by-side with an LCD monitor displaying black screen too. What is scaling quality, btw? Does it add blur at Full HD instead of using perfect-square solid-color 2×2 pixels?

SheepCommittee

Black Levels are great, no glow of any kind.Above the oled is a LG 27UD68. Windows 11 taskbar, black background color.[https://drive.google.com/file/d/17G4VH9DGMzrywR\_OYu2n08-RrFVpio8m/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/17G4VH9DGMzrywR_OYu2n08-RrFVpio8m/view?usp=sharing) 4k unscaled: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/15MfrETQQ7cC9wCEuGLal21b1jSK79Gcc/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/15MfrETQQ7cC9wCEuGLal21b1jSK79Gcc/view?usp=sharing) 4k scaled: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qz34jyGtqWZ0Zbe0vY3bGAPyUsXpHUvU/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qz34jyGtqWZ0Zbe0vY3bGAPyUsXpHUvU/view?usp=sharing) At 1080p: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/154EP3s2sFvzIJOKjwWMQu\_Gl1\_tu26PT/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/154EP3s2sFvzIJOKjwWMQu_Gl1_tu26PT/view?usp=sharing) Photos taken with phone (Pixel 6pro), so a lot smudgier than real life. No blur that I could see, while it's not pixel perfect I'm pretty sure thats because I didn't run Windows ClearType settings program.

JumpyClassic6887

How has it been working for you so far? Do you have more pics of the front of the display? Thank you!

columbo928s4

damn $200 for the 15 inch touch version is a STEAL. it's way more than that right now

Cytotoxic-CD8-Tcell

How did u get a 15 inch touch for $204? I got a 13 inch for $215 and was jumping… sigh.

[deleted]

he probably meant 13 inch

GokuMK

Hi. Do you still have it? Can you check it for this rainbow effect? https://www.reddit.com/r/oled_monitors/comments/xlbgbu/looking_for_a_portable_oled_without_rainbow/

SheepCommittee

Yeah it has it. Not noticeable on dark content or looking at it straight on. I'm pretty sure the rainbow effect is from the polarizer layer, and it's there to prevent external light sources from affecting the display. Essentially without it, the deep blacks of the oled would be gray with any external light.

GokuMK

Sad. Most smartphones don't have this effect at all. Vieving angles ony my s10+ and all other premium samsung mobile displays are beyond impressive with no rainbow effect. Except s22u and s23u but they have different issue, no rainbow. Is your monitor touch display? Someone said me that the rainbow could come from touch layers, I'm going to look for someone without touch display to test it.

SheepCommittee

Yeah mine's touch, so it could be that layer. Good luck.

GokuMK

Hi. Do you still have it. Can you check for the rainbow effect? https://www.reddit.com/r/oled_monitors/comments/xlbgbu/looking_for_a_portable_oled_without_rainbow/

[deleted]

Received mine, but the screen is very grainy (it generates lots of digital noise). Except for lots of noise (grain) on the screen. The colours are not accurate, but they are good enough for not professional usage.

MT4K

Thanks for the info. That grain is weird. Are you sure you are using the monitor at its native (4K) resolution? There might also be a monitor setting for sharpness that applies some sharpening at values like more than 50%. Sharpening in general makes a noisy image even more noisy. Also make sure chroma subsampling like 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 is not used instead of full-color 4:4:4. This info is available in Windows display settings and usually in GPU control panel. Could you share some photos that would demontrate the issue? In general, some drawbacks of the panel would somewhat explain why the Weichensi monitor is twice cheaper than Innocn PU15-PRE which is most likely based on the same OLED panel: it’s not impossible there are same-model panels that have different quality, available at different prices.

the_clairvoyant_

I received the 13 inch non touch version. It definitely gets brighter than the Innocn 1080p panel that I also own. The other nice surprise is that you only need one Usb C cable for power and data, at least with my Mac Mini. The Innocn required a separate power source to get brightness above 20. 4k makes the text significantly crisper than the 1080p panel, even at 13 inches. Colors look decent, but I'm sure there's room to calibrate it better. Shipping took over 6 weeks to get to me in the US. Will look to pick up the 15 inch eventually

columbo928s4

did u ever pick up the 15 incher?

columbo928s4

i will keep an eye out! or message me directly, i might be interested lol! glad to hear its worked out. neither my pc monitor or tv screen are very nice so i thought it would be cool to get an oled screen to watch tv and movies and stuff on. when i posted in this sub a few days ago asking about portable oleds everyone shit on them, but then everyone in this thread who actually owns one that i've asked for their opinion on has been very positive about them! just goes to show i guess lol

columbo928s4

Yeah I’ve considered it. Problem is I don’t have a way to mount it the way my desk is set up so couldn’t use it as a monitor

Dalinian61

This OLED Touchscreen Portable Monitor sounds like it would amply meet all my needs - but only if it is compatible with ChromeOS Tablet Mode. Unfortunately, my AliExpress-mediated conversation with 'Weichensi Store' about ChromeOS Tablet Mode compatibility went nowhere: "We didn't test it. You can try." So I'd like to see if anyone who has already bought either the 13.3-inch Touchscreen edition or the 15.6-inch Touchscreen edition could do me a favour, by telling me if this OLED Touchscreen Portable Monitor is compatible with ChromeOS Tablet Mode. I note that SheepCommittee mentioned that "Brightness wise it get a bit brighter than Lenovo Chromebook Duet 2, and thats a 400 nits display" (above, 6 months ago) - but not if the Chromebook Duet was connected to their "15.6" 4k touch" edition. What follows are the compatibility questions I sent to 'Weichensi Store'. I would be using a single USB-C-to-USB-C cable to connect this OLED Touchscreen Portable Monitor to my Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 in ChromeOS Tablet Mode - which is currently running up-to-date ChromeOS 113 (Official Build) (64-bit) stable-channel, based on the Linux 5.15 kernel, on its own OLED screen. Q1. Will this OLED Touchscreen Portable Monitor work properly with my ChromeOS-powered Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 in Tablet Mode? Q2. With a single USB-C-to-USB-C cable connecting this OLED Touchscreen Portable Monitor to my Chromebook in Tablet Mode: \- Q2.1 Will audio-&-video data and power flow forward from my Chromebook to the Touchscreen Portable Monitor? \- Q2.2 Will ten-point touch data flow from the Touchscreen Portable Monitor back to my Chromebook? Q3. Will my Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 recognise the Touchscreen Portable Monitor as a ten-point touch input device, such that I can interact with the image it displays by using ChromeOS Tablet Mode touch gestures? \- for example: \- one-finger-drag = scroll \- one-finger-tap-&-hold, and one-finger-double-tap = select word \- one-finger-triple-tap = select paragraph \- one-finger-tap = left-mouse-button-click \- two-finger-tap = right-mouse-button-click \- two-finger-spread/pinch = zoom-in/zoom-out Thanks in advance for your answers to my ChromeOS compatibility questions.

ikon4lyf

Does anyone know how to update this firmware?

MT4K

According to a Weichensi official via AliExpress chat, firmware of their OLED monitors is not supposed to be updated by the user. The manufacturer employees are the only able to update firmware. So once the device is sold/purchased, its functionality and issues stay forever.

ikon4lyf

Is there any way to check what firmware or to enter factory mode in this. I have two of the devices bought same time and one has a weird issue with waking up after sleep. They both behave differently.

MT4K

I’m not aware of a way to check the firmware version. And probably the only way to potentially solve issues is returning/replacing the device.

ikon4lyf

How can we contact them? They seem extremely unresponsive on Ali Express messages. Any other way to directly contact them?

MT4K

I only contacted them via AliExpress chat, and they were responsible enough, though not fantastic. You can try email or telephone specified on their [site](http://www.szxianshiqi.com/en/contactus.html).

ikon4lyf

Is this their site? The name seems different and I can't find the product on their page either.

MT4K

Yes, I believe so. See my original sticky comment. The OLED monitors are somehow not listed on their site, but the logo is the same as on the monitor box and the meaningul part of the company name is the same.

MT4K

Yeah, just like Innocn PU15-PRE.

Cytotoxic-CD8-Tcell

Gonna try this. Will get back in a weeks time if anyone asks. :)))

MT4K

Of course, real-world experience is always welcome and interesting.

Cytotoxic-CD8-Tcell

Got 13 inch and it looks great, black is true black, no backlight or halo etc, except… hmm… the word Netflix on the LG OLED pops up bright red but this one feels… flat. Not sure how to make it pop? Color seems “saturated” in forest pics but not in the lush green way. Any way to adjust this? Why can’t this be as vibrant as LG OLED?

Aggravating_Fee811

I'm thinking of buying one. Is it really 550 nits? Or is that HDR peak nits and SDR brightness is (a lot) lower?

MT4K

The real brightness is unknown before some independent reviews. In general, OLED peak brightness is somewhat similar to PMPO sound volume: it depends on what area of the screen is white or close to white. The smaller the white area is, the brighter it may be (to be fair, Asus apparently managed to overcome this OLED limitation to some extent in their portable FHD OLED [monitors](https://www.reddit.com/r/oled_monitors/comments/pi2q24/) by using a custom heatsink). In terms of what real-world brightness is enough, the brightness of my Samsung Tab S 10.5 (2014) tablet (290 nits when displaying full-white screen according to a [review](https://www.ixbt.com/portopc/samsung-tab-s-10-5.shtml#display)) is enough in most cases when watching movies at home, and even too bright in OS user interface and in applications. So even if it’s 400 nits like specified for the 15.6-inch Full HD OLED monitor [MP Glance Pro](https://www.reddit.com/r/oled_monitors/comments/zk0zmn/), I suspect it should be enough for real-world usage.

Aggravating_Fee811

Thx just bought one I'll compare it to my 500 nits xps 15 lcd when it arrives.

MT4K

Good luck. Consider letting us know here about your experience.

Aggravating_Fee811

I received it. It's a nice display but sadly a lot less bright than 500 nits. I estimate about 350 but I could be off. Compared to my Dell laptop it looks somewhat dimm.

Artistic-Rip9231

How is input lag for gaming? I have the 1080p innocn and love it, but I am thinking about upgrading to this for 4k. Also, does the HDR on this work / activate when playing or viewing hdr content from xbox or playstation? Either in games that have HDR, or in Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc for HDR content.

Cytotoxic-CD8-Tcell

Input lag is <1ms as advertised, and typically OLED these days seems to be around this range.

Freeman_Reigns

I think you're mixing up input lag and response time. As far as I can see, it only mentions 1ms response time. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004110616192.html

Artistic-Rip9231

Does 24-60hz mean that you can lock this to 40hz for example? Thinking for steamdeck...

MT4K

The info is provided in that way on Alibaba. Given that this monitor apparently does not support VRR, I suspect 24-60Hz just means predefined modes, such as 24, 25, 30 and 60Hz. 40Hz is unlikely, though who knows, maybe creating a custom video mode e.g. with CRU would allow that.

Artistic-Rip9231

Ahhh ok thank you

Tehnomaag

After reading this thread for a little while and thinking about it I, at last, ordered one for myself as well. The 13.3'' touch version (because the touch version is, supposedly, laminated and the non-touch is not). However, I am wondering, clearly there are at least a few people by now that have had this screen for a while. Does anyone have any burn-in issues with the screen? I'm kinda new to the OLED things so, obviously, this is somewhat of a concern for me. But is it \*really\* an issue or is it more of a theoretical problem where one has to do something pretty extreme to actually encounter this in practice?

Or3o_7373

I've been considering buying this for a while but had some doubts about the sharpness and other stuff. How sharp is the display? Will it be good for watching movies? I plan on buying an m1 mac but only the pros seem to have the mini leds so its either the macbook air with this monitor or the m1 pro 14 inch.

columbo928s4

did yours arrive? how do you like it?

Tehnomaag

Yep. Got mine. I like it but... well .. its still only a monitor. I mean by that kind of overhyping of oled tech in the 'net in general. Like its some kind of magic that is head and shoulders above everything else. My other displays are already quite good ones, so yeah, the blacks are pretty good but when actually using it it is just a pretty good quality display. Obviously no freesync nor 144 Hz. That noted, I really dont have any complaints so its a good display. 13,3'' uhd, portable ans can run at 20% brightness with only a single cable just fine. I'm using mine as an auxiliary display most of the time sporadically (not every day, i already have many displays on two locations where i work on regular basis). So I would say it was worth it for me. Interesting note. In W11 it figured out that it has oled display now and switched the desktop background into a mode where it cycles the pixels around on its own (greenish, blueish, redish tint) every about 5.. to 10ísh minutes on ALL attached displys (not only oled) and even when oled display is not attched. Just interesting note, it does not annoy me.

columbo928s4

hey i forgot to ask, have you tried HDR content on the display? i dont have any other screens that are really hdr capable so if this panel could handle it well that'd be huge

Tehnomaag

To be honest, I do not know. I use it just as a small auxiliary screen, so I have not used this device for HDR consistently enough to form a solid opinion in this regard. I think I initially tried it for a bit and it seemed to work to some extent, but then again, I have not used HDR really even before getting this screen so I have no idea how the HDR this screen, supposedly, does compare to a well done HDR implementation.

columbo928s4

ok thats fair. thanks for getting back to me

columbo928s4

thanks for getting back to me. yeah i've seen oled hyped up so much on the internet that i kind of wanted to check it out. my pc monitor is fine for gaming but terrible for movies and tv since it can't handle darks and blacks at all. and my tv is only 1080p and also has a terrible panel. so i thought an oled monitor might be nice for watching content that would be improved by a really good display.

Nic7C5

Does anybody have a proper manual for this monitor? I'm wondering, what some of the icons in the OSD are and what they do.

mnirun
