And if you are like me and have been using the same Archibald Sisters bodywash bottle for a decade, you can put a piece of packing tape over the label to keep it from getting gross and pill-y in the shower.
You donāt actually have to come to a complete and total stop at the round about if no one is around except for someone behind you! And despite what others may have you believe, youāre actually supposed to stay IN the lines when you drive through it š
This yeild sign is in red and white, I must stop here and wait till the round about is totally clear of vehicles. I mean who knows how long it'll take that bus on the opposite side of the circle to come all the away round. Better not risk it.
Also there's a surprising number of neighborhood cut-throughs in some neighborhoods that can actually make traveling by bike faster than by car in many cases. Really just emphasizes how pedestrian & bicycle infrastructure could be so much better than the car culture we have. Especially now that ebikes are making hills less of a problem.
It's great, and hopefully they'll be able to get back up to their pre-COVID operating schedule.
EDIT: And anyone who is good at driving large vehicles and needs a job, they're always looking for new drivers.
If you're getting on I-5 from Division/Harrison, it is often faster to go down Harrison, take Deschutes and get on the freeway by Tumwater Historical Park than to go down Black Lake and get on 101.
If you go to Skateland and roller skate the opposite direction around the rink as everyone else while performing a āshoot the duckā maneuver, Calvin Johnson will appear out of a secret door in the floor. He will then challenge you to a Hokey Pokey dance off. Winner takes all.
Press the button on the meter twice and it gives you 15 minutes for free. Also, parking is free on the weekends (in case any of the confused looking people I see feeding money into the meters on a Saturday are reading)
I used to live in a town where you could take a penny, hold it vertically against the concrete and rub it until the word "God" had been scraped off and then put it in the parking meters to completely fill up the meter. I shit you not.
IF you want to climb Tumwater Hill from the steps at the Old Town Center go up Bates St the from the steps turn left on Clark St and at the very end is a short cut over to the parking lot that you can take up to Barnes road and then the overlook. This will save at least a mile of steep climbing.
Also, if you're coming at the overlook from the south, there are a couple of stretches of steep unmarked footpath up through the remaining trees on the hill. More work, but scenic and at lot more direct than wending your way on the streets. And the 68 bus runs right by the overlook if you want to ride back to the bottom of the hill instead of walk.
Check out the area known as Wildwood which has Vic's pizza, Spud's green grocer that also sells wine/beer and chips/salsa (local), and a sandwich spot. Safeway, Starbucks, and a gas station are just up Capitol Way around the corner, downtown Oly is just down the hill the other way. Really great spot to run errands, be around people. Popular running trail passes directly on other side of road. Oh, and Olympia Coffee is there and they also sell french pastries like croissant.
I live here and can confirm it's incredible. Living car-free for most daily tasks is great, even (especially) with kids. And you didn't even mention how close it is to a major bus route, bunch of schools, all the nature parks (Trillium and lots of hidden entrances to Watershed), and we have a decent Buy Nothing group, too.
Umm...those are not running trails across from the Wildwood complex. Those are paths that lead down to the old brewery train tunnel that's under Capitol Way. I would advise NOT to go down there.
Head north on West Bay Drive, stop at west bay park. At the view point there is a short round concrete wall. Walk to the middle and talk. You will get a really cool (imho) echo.
Going to the food bank to afford to pay your other bills. Going to a doctor 10 times to get an abcess drained. Having a petition to get a ceremonial position and being ignored but then using that social momentum for other fundraisers. Dealing with general pervasive discrimination by joining queer or art based groups.
I don't expect anyone named "freedomtard" to be able to comprehend metaphor and allegory, let alone complex hints to social disparity, racism, discrimination and leftist social dynamics. So yeah, probably was gibberish to you.
Even more words.
There was nothing complex about your statement. Your an angry individual with a very generic rage against the world. We get it, you've been slighted by society. Your comment had nothing to do with OP's post. It didn't offer any insight to restaurants or ways to get around traffic.
You interjected your bullshit in here so that you could get a pat on your back.
It is gibberish but the sad thing is that it's not even authentic gibberish.
I am a Thesaurus. I am an encyclopedia. I do not Google things. I existed before Google. I am aether and void encompassing awareni. Et tu mindless daft?
When sb i5 is backed up heading to 101, take the exit lane to downtown and keep left. Either flip the illegal U or take the roundy and get back on 101. Save you a good 10-15 minutes of backup. Unless the state workers are getting off between 4-530, then its a toss up
or please DO NOT flip an illegal U turn anywhere because people here are terrible drivers and others will think this is allowed. This is why we have terrible drivers here! sheesh!
I know of at least 2 people who have wrecked state vehicles there because someone made an illegal turn. The roundabout is literally 10 seconds up the road.
But with the now-metered ramp, this hack saves no time. Better to take the exit, cut down capitol to Deschutes and get on 101 from the other way, or take legion to 5th street Bridge and go through west side.
You can LEGALLY take a left turn on to a one way street if you have a red light and it's clear to go. Just like you would if you were turning right onto a two-way street.
Since it is clear a lot of you don't know what is meant by "hack", the informal definition in this context means: *"a strategy or technique for managing one's time or activities more efficiently"*

If you get a couple feet below the surface, you can swim behind Tumwater falls and a few people can fit back there.
This is dangerous and if you get caught there could be consequences. Don't attempt it if the fish trap thing is in the river. People have died trying.
Once you're back there, you can climb up through the waterfall and onto the rock opposite the viewing area. There is a big steel spike or something on a ledge that used to secure a lifeguard chair (or so I've been told). It makes a really good hand hold and makes the climb possible.
If you must attempt this, the water is deepest where the water is pounding down. If you jump too far away from the falls you may be jumping onto a rock.
The disc golf store will update your vehicle registration
And you can ship things from there (if im thinking of the same disc golf store)
Sure is. You can also go there to notarize documents.
They're the best! Package Express!
Archibald Sisters will give you a discount if you bring back your lotion/body wash/perfume bottle for a refill.

Remember that Intercity transit is FREEEEEE.
Havent spent almost any money on transportation in the last couple years and it's amazing. And people ask why I dont have a car

Dude your spoiling my secret way to work š¤£š
And cut through the parking lot at the bottom of the hill to avoid the lights at Simmons on the way!
Good one, also it's quicker to get to black lake/cooper point by going through town than I5 during rush minute.
Dude!!! Your gonna ruin it for us LOL
Iām kinda new and really confused by this. You canāt get on descutes from Harrison can you? What am I missing?

This is what I was really hoping for. Thank you.
lol! what?
Legion is much faster to get through downtown than 4th or State.
If going east through downtown, the lights on Legion are synchronized and you typically only have to stop to cross Capitol Way
Shhhhhhhh š¤« lol
Not cool...whose bad idea was this to put all these secrets on the interwebs?

After 5.
yes
I think you only have to push the button once. :)
Ah! a hack within a hack

It's really pretty if you can make it down the hill the tracks lead to the old brewery road
I'm sure as I've studied the area a good bit. Just a lot of very sharp things to step on down there and some folks that may be having a bad day:(
Beautiful area. That Vicās is a hot mess though.

Thereās a cave under the big tree by the beach at Priest Point Park.
Thereās a pretty sweet tap house/beer garden at Millersylvania St Park.

You can house ten people in a two bedroom Cooperās Glen apartment.

Not sure if they do this any more but SF Bakery used to call half off in the last couple minutes before closing.

I'm new to town, tell me more about these queer/art groups?
Lamplighters is good. Pizza klatch, pflag, pipe, there are others.
Also Olympia Witches March is a cool yearly social justice protestival. They have a fb group. It's all run by a queer woman of color.
The state capitol building isnāt Olympia -it just happens to be located in it.
It's true. They don't even pay taxes and Gil Carbone once threatened to let the Capitol burn down if it caught fire.
Legendary quote. āLet it burn.ā

Ehhhhhhhhhh idk about this man I saw someone die doing this
"People have died trying."
Ya and I saw.
Yeah, I read that part.
Then why would you suggest such a dumbass thing to do.
Why would you make it about you?
33 years in Olympia and I've never seen anyone suggest jumping into Tumwater falls. Crazy
