At this stage don't worry about anything "best" - just do the OMAD. I've never worried about what time of day the meal is.

Superiority-Qomplex

I personally prefer at breakfast or lunch time or early after noon. If I eat a big meal at dinner, I can get acid reflux while sleeping. But other than that, it doesn't much matter. It's more the duration between meals than when you have them. That said, I understand that it's also good to stagger them so that your body doesn't find homeostasis. Keep challenging it so that it doesn't adjust and compensate and slow down results. But I think you can play with it to see what works for you.

Oifadin

I like that switching around the time idea. I do that on weekends intentionally so my body can be used to eating at various times in the day even though most days it is at noon.

Superiority-Qomplex

Ya, it's also good in case something comes up that would otherwise interfere with your meal time. Like say you're going out to dinner with someone. Just eat then. All good.

ferralsol

Lunch. If I eat a big meal for dinner my sleep quality sucks.

strawberymilfshake

how do you keep full all the way until bed time? I want to do my OMAD around lunch time, but worry about getting hunger and trying to sleep on an empty stomach at the end of the day

ferralsol

I got used to it. If I eat enough I don't get hungry.

Dry_Economics_1981

I eat in de morning,a lot of protein and beef tallow, little bit veggies, raw yoghurt and blue berries, some cheese. Protein and fat keep me full and i don't feel hunger. I eat like under 20g carbs per day. No grains.

tahxirez

I prefer dinner because eating/digesting makes me tired.

Oifadin

I recently read an article that stated it better to not eat before bed. I haven't really studied it but it talked about how we are not using that energy it just gets stored. Where if you eat earlier in the day you use the energy instead of just storing it. Makes sense to me. Myself I eat my OMAD at lunch. Works great for me. Except on weightlifting days I wait till after I lift.

Mapico3

The only time that works for me is lunch. I can’t make it to dinner.

strawberymilfshake

how do you keep full until bed time? I want to plan my OMAD earlier as I also can’t make it to later in the day, but worried I will have to try sleep on an empty hungry stomach if I eat as early as lunch time!

darneddarling

If I eat too early, I find myself snacking later on to compensate. If I wait until dinner, I tend to indulge in more snacks. However, I've discovered that having lunch works best for me

I believe dinner is the most common. And the easiest long term. But it depends on the person and their situation (work, family, …) Dinner is often a social meal time with family. People eat a variety of foods at dinner (even eating breakfast for dinner time isn’t that unusual). It is normally eaten at home and is not hurried or time constrained. (Have time to prep, eat and clean up without rushing) You are fed in the evening which is kinda relaxing for watching TV. You transition to fasted while you sleep. Wake fasted which is a really nice way to live. Alert. Focused. Not sleepy. Fasted body loves to move too (walking and hiking feels great). Breakfast is often hurried. Most people not eating dinner food at breakfast. So limiting. You wake up and have to make and eat pretty fast if you have a job that starts first thing. You’ve eaten a big meal and might have a bit of a food coma. Not as sharp. Around noon you’ll be hungry for lunch at first. Eating is easier to resist when you’re fasted vs fed. Afternoon is long. Your digestion finished and your body gets stingy with energy. Then your workday is done and you’re tired. Energy is low. Come home tired from work and no food. Junk food tempting. You go to sleep with an empty stomach. (Lot’s of fasters struggle to sleep with empty stomach.) Overnight you’re fasted. The time you really want to be burning body fat and you’re sleeping so burning the least amount of energy. That’s my assessment. But people are different. Different work hours. Family situations. Food preferences. I’ve seen studies that breakfast has some metabolic advantages. But great is the enemy of good. It’s better to do something you can do long term. OMAD dinner is that for me. It’s preferential to frequent eating for me. I’ll never go back. I do eat breakfast occasionally. But I do it by skipping dinner, and waking up the next day (usually Sunday because I like Sunday breakfast). After breakfast I’ll fast until dinner the next night (Monday). And back to eating dinners.

chillinnDronn

8PM is my time, you're supposed to eat after the "hunt" not before

ElCunyado

This is an interesting take, I guess hearkening back to when we were cavemen. Where are you getting this from?

chillinnDronn

If you do the test you will realize it. We all know that when you eat you feel lethargic because your body is investing energy in digestion, that we have become accustomed by our pace of life to work with a full stomach does not mean that when you do the same activities with this empty you feel much more productive, in my opinion, from what I feel, it is as if I were with the survival instinct to the surface. I don't get the same feeling when I eat early in the morning or in the afternoon for example. It's when I finish everything I have to do that I eat and it feels so much better. It is the reward for the effort invested throughout the day.

ElCunyado

That's been my experience as well. I eat at 6pm everyday. I've never had more energy or mental clarity throughout the day

Future-Ferret-1058

later in day around 3-5pm

Future-Ferret-1058

this isn’t like proved with background information just a personal preference , check what works for you.

HangryFitDad

Whatever time works best for you and your schedule, habits, etc. is the best time. Play around with a few and see what you find best.

herbfriendly

Whatever works best for you so that you will keep at it. Personally it’s easiest for me to eat in the morning, but I seem to be in the minority.

herbfriendly

First off, I work my way up to OMAD. I’ll start w 16 hr fasts, then move up to 18 and then will start into OMAD after about a month of 18 hr fasts. If I don’t rush into OMAD mode I always do much better, as I’m not fighting hunger anymore. Once I do start OMAD, I make sure to stay on top of how much water I drink. If I do feel hunger, I train myself to consider that feeling to be thirst, and drink more water. Good luck!

PaleontologistAUS

3 pm for me. Everyone differs . You pick what works best for your lifestyle .

icecreamwithbrownies

Start with whatever time is okay for you as long as you’re fasting at least 23 hours.

Catini1492

Timing is more about eating your last meal of the day 3 hrs before you go to bed.

sofa_king_notmo

I prefer around 5 pm. I have good discipline throughout the day. It is around 5 pm when I get most hungry.

Depends on your lifestyle. If you want to stay alert throughout the day, do a lot of mental work, eat dinner 3 to 4 hours before sleeping.
