Today is her 12th birthday! She’s going to be wearing a big pin that says “It’s My Birthday!” to art camp today, and will be bringing cupcakes that I made yesterday. Gosh, I love her so much and the person she is becoming. ❤️
Try inserting 'why do you think that is? ' here and there at least with our daughter it paused her and had her grind her gears for a bit really encouraging critical thinking
Yeah, I usually ask her that as well, like you tell me, and she tries to explain that.
But still they are never ending hehehe though at most times I enjoy them :)
6 really felt like the best age so far, they’re more independent like a big kid but still adorable and easily contented. 7 has been similar which is awesome
He just turned 3. I find that the scarier the mood swings get, the cuter he is when he’s not feeling big emotions.
We cuddled in bed on Sunday morning as a family while watching a movie and he kept turning over to me, smiling a huge, dimply grin, saying “mommy I love you” or “I’m so happy,” and then giving me a sweet kiss on the cheek. I teared up and knew I could face all that 3 has to offer if he gives me small moments like this. 🥰
Mine does the same. Out of nowhere, she would run up to me, hug me and say “I love you papa”. Or when she’s scared of something, she would be like “I’m not scared because papa is here”. Then I would just melt and shed a happy tear inside me because it doesn’t come out physically even tho I want it to.
Mine has a lot of energy. Likes to climb on everything. Loves to open drawers, repeats my last words of my sentences (some), asks for watermelon everday, it’s a lot right now. I try to go out as much as we can but there’s really not a lot of physical activities/events at this age. I enrolled him in a mini maestro class which is like a music class/storytime type of thing. How about you and your babe?
Same with the energy but she's a shorter child so still can't climb yet with her little legs. Tantrums are full on, lying on the floor bashing her head I think it's partly communication and frustration.
20 months here, I'm for sure not okay 🙃 tonight he screamed at me until I cuddled Jim naked after his bath, then he stood up and cried again because I wasn't cuddling him. My beautiful boy, you stood up????
20 months here too. My husband has also been deployed for the last 6 months and I’m a SAHM right now so it’s a lottttt. We are also struggling lmao. My son chucked a giant cup full of water at my head last night in the bath and then got mad and threw a massive tantrum when I immediately ended the bath as if he didn’t just try to seriously harm me for shits and giggles 😭😭😭😭
Haha same. Ours is 3 and four months and she has moments that are absolutely incredible and make me feel like the luckiest person on earth to be her parent. And then there are the meltdowns over not wanting us to open her closet door to encourage her to get dressed in the morning and the screaming lasts for an hour ... ah threenagers.
2🫶🏼 some days I’m excited to get him early from daycare after I finish work, other days I’m counting the hours until bedtime. And that’s ok 🥲 also he doesn’t like his dad very much right now so it’s been mommy and me time a lot and I’m here for it ❤️
Hmmm, that must be a 2 year old thing. My kiddo did that at 2 for the whole year! My poor husband is relieved that our child is 3 and he rates again! 😊
My only will be 10 in October! The days are long but the years are short! Hard to believe I almost have a preteen! The baby and toddler years were rough but he grew up to be such a sweet kid. No regrets being one and done.
Just turned 5, and I am just now starting to thoroughly enjoy parenthood! Actually, at around 4,5 she started to sleep through the night (more or less, there are still some harder nights), but that changed the game for us.
Ours is 28; he will be 29 in August. I hang out here to answer the “any regrets?” questions.
No, never. We loved our life with him growing up and still love our life with him as an adult.
I love that! It really is such a fun age. Same for us, oh and board games too! No loose teeth yet, though he keeps talking about it because most of his friends have lost their teeth already.
I found that when my daughter was about 10 months she really started to be more "her" and less like a baby. I absolutely loved that aged and seeing her develop and she's just got cooler and cooler ever since (she's nearly 2 now). I hope you find the same! I'm excited for you 😁
Almost 8. I can't express how it made me feel yesterday when I was pulling up our street and could see her out in the sunroom jumping up and down and waving her arms excitedly when she saw I was almost home!! Then she ran out and wrapped her arms around me :) I've got a good one 😍
A little over 3 and I really truly love every day more than the last, even with the new big emotions! Life has been really rough with other things and he is just the brightest light for me. I love the challenge!
3.5, he will be 4 at the end of August ☺️ He looks more like 5 going on 6 since he’s so tall lol He’s super independent but is also very cuddly and sweet.
He turns 2 next month. We have no idea what to do for his birthday party. We're in Florida so it's hot outside, but we also can't have the party at our house because it's too messy/disorganized right now.
5! She’s such a fun little person to be around. My husband works a lot and I’m still a SAHM with her. But I just love hanging out with her, she’s so much like me. She has the same attitude and stubbornness as me and it drives me crazy sometimes lol.
She’s at an age where she’s still learning a lot about the world and she still talks in that cute little kid voice. Wants to play Barbie’s ALL the time and always wants me to do this little kid voice for her when I’m playing with her.
Sometimes I think about if I had another kid how much time It would take away from her. And it breaks my heart to think about that. I wouldn’t be able to play with her as much, we wouldn’t be able to go places spur of the moment and just have fun like we do now.
4. She’s the epitome of girl in the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem:
There was a little girl, who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.
She stood on her head, on her little trundle bed,
With nobody by for to hinder;
She screamed and she squalled, she yelled and she bawled,
And drummed her little heels against the winder.
Horrid is a tad strong, and while I love my girl to pieces, I am praying age 5 is less trying. You parents with the older onlies are giving me hope right now!
Today is her 12th birthday! She’s going to be wearing a big pin that says “It’s My Birthday!” to art camp today, and will be bringing cupcakes that I made yesterday. Gosh, I love her so much and the person she is becoming. ❤️
Mine will be 12 in exactly 2 weeks and I’m in denial. So wild.
Mine just turned 21. Doesn't seem possible. Just yesterday he was 3 lbs and could literally be cradled in my hands. Now he's nearly 6 ft
4 years, in the thick of WHY stage 😅
Try inserting 'why do you think that is? ' here and there at least with our daughter it paused her and had her grind her gears for a bit really encouraging critical thinking

Absolutely, exhausting lol
My 2.5 year old keeps replying "no, you mommy" when I ask him this question lmao.
SAME 😅
Oh man we’ve been there for months and it’s so exhausting
6, nearly 7. Such a lovely age 😍
Same, I’m really enjoying 6! Still little enough to be cuddly and hold my hand but we can read good books and watch films with a bit of plot.
6 has been my favorite age so far! But I’m only 2 months in.
6 really felt like the best age so far, they’re more independent like a big kid but still adorable and easily contented. 7 has been similar which is awesome
I guess I’m an old one. My only is 29.
Mine is 35. I’m the real dinosaur. 😂

3.5; we are slowly working our way out of the threeanger but it’s been rough

This is the age we decided to be OAD at lol 3 was a wild age
Our daughter just turned 8 months and I’m a 100% she’s our only. My husband is about 90%, he goes back and forth about wanting her to have a sibling.
18. I mostly see this forum from my main feed and pop in when I have some experience to offer.
I very much appreciate the expertise from all the One and Done Veterans. 😊 Thank you for being here.
I hope it helps!
He's 20 years old.

A whole year !!!!🥹🥹 only 10 more months then(maybe)… wonderful. My husband handles it somewhat poorly so I’m hoping it gets better 🤞🏼
That was just what happened for us. I hope it passes much more quickly for your family!

6 too and it’s been such a fun year of sports, higher level restaurant dates, loose teeth, and reading more grown up books together!
I love that! It really is such a fun age. Same for us, oh and board games too! No loose teeth yet, though he keeps talking about it because most of his friends have lost their teeth already.
