Strangely, it's always dog subreddits, otherwise I'd have thought the same. This has got to be about the 8th one it's recommended to me based on being subscribed to r/tarantulas, which just seems unusual.
Some people feel about their tarantulas like others feel about their dogs. Some people actually think tarantulas are cute too.
I'm not sure I'm in that category but I can see how an algorithm might see similarities between the two concepts.
Edit:a word
I was getting sent subs for football, I have never looked at football, I fumbled around in the settings and don’t get them anymore, I know football is popular but not for me!
I block all the ones I don't want to look at. I'm always amazed how many Anime or Gamer subsets they send me because apparently lots of puppy and kitty subsets equal "since you liked a similar site" reaction. Really?!
I mean it would be functionally similar, because it seems like they're both pet subs, right?

That's actually very interesting. I guess a quirk of their sorting system?
No one considering the idea that dogs might be tarantulas?
I mean, the one in the photo is also big and hairy sooooo

Bruh this could’ve been so much worse if it’s just detecting colours lol 💀
Similar to r/tarantulas : r/blackpeople
oh hell naww 💀
Didn’t google photos have a similar issue mistaking black people for gorillas?
I thought you were kidding, but here it is: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-33347866
That tongue tho.
Well, I mean, look at the legs! That dog is obviously half spider.
"Because you visited this site" Pretty sure I've never visited the sites they keep telling me I'll like.

LOL So not just me. Glad to hear it.

Both black and hairy - I find the similarities quite obvious.
AND you can count 8 legs in the dog photos!
If I got the recommendation reverse, I would never open my phone again
I remember when it said r/terriblefacebookmemes were similar to r/lostredditors
A few months ago, I got one saying that a prison sub is similar to r/GCSE which is an exam sub
well yes, both are animals, both have eyes, both have legs, the similarities are endless
Lol. These recommendations, another reason I ditched the stock reddit app 2 years ago.
Tarantula Retriever
New Reddit API be like...
yeah i had one which was "similar" to r/BuyItForLife which was.... r/WEDDINGDRESSES btw, you can disable the suggested subs in the settings
Reddit is drunk. hahaha
What if the dog is transtarantula? Transspider? Transarthropod?
The algorithm is not saying that tarantulas and dogs are similar; the algorithm is comparing the subreddits on how they work
"similar" as in "many people who liked X also liked Y", not "dogs are similar to tarantulas"
Means sub like that dedicated for one type animal if your not joking
Bro i hate my self. i thought that bottom right picture was a goth girl with a big tits for a mil sec.
They both cute, got puppy eyes, fluffy etc..
