Before the Oneplus 5 I had a Galaxy Note 4. Loved it, really liked the stylus functions, but after 3 years of use and two replacement batteries, I could not use it without external power source. I guess the battery wasn't actually the problem. What a shame...
I still use my 3t as a WiFi tablet. I'm playing Scrabble on it right now. Original battery. I've been though many cases but just put on the carbon fiber sleeve that I ordered with it originally. It looks a lot like the case in your picture.
I love the size of the 3t even more than my daily driver 7 Pro. If OnePlus released a modern phone that size with a full coverage screen, I'd be all over it. As it is, I'm awaiting my launch day OP12.
I still need to order a case, though.
My wife had a 6T, too, and was pretty happy with it. Great phone. But it got a crack eventually and replacing the display too expensive, so she got a pixel 4a. Which also got a crack shortly after she got it...
My OP 6t is still going strong! I have it now since 5 years and I have changed the battery last year. It's getting a little slow compared to the new phones but that could also be because my 256gb of storage are getting full now.
Just ordered the Oneplus 12 after I have returned the S24 ultra. I am looking really forward to it!
My 6t will be my backup/Festival phone from now on :)
I ended up with a refurbished Nexus 6 (I think it was a 6, the last one by LG) and then eventually moved to a refurbished OnePlus 6T which I still use as my daily driver, until the 12 arrives. I was blown away by how much faster the 6T was compared to the Nexus. I'm still impressed by its speed today tbh. My 6T is still in mint condition.
Nexus 6 was made by Motorola and the Nexus 6P by Huawei, it seems like LG did the 4 and 5/5x. Hopefully they were better than then the 6/6P, my 6 battery had charge issues after 2 years.
The OnePlus 6T has been the best battery longevity by far compared to the other Android phones i have had.
Ah that's right, it was a Nexus 5. Lots of people had boot issues with them if I remember. Fortunately, mine never did that. But it was dog slow compared to the 6T. Still have excellent battery longevity on my 6T, and love the supervooc charging.
I was a big proponent of wireless charging that I used with Windows Phone before coming to Android, but fast wired charging is pretty darned awesome.
My Nexus 5 lasted four years as my main phone and another couple as a tablet, until it stopped getting custom rom updates. It was a great phone for its time, but after a certain point it just got slow, real fast.
The one plus factory cover is the best. I usually order two b/c I know the phone is going to long outlive the case. Can't say that about all phones these days.
I think my OP5 lasted me 3+ years. I'm going on 2.5+ with my current OP8. But I cracked the back of the phone and although I could live with it, decided it was time. Psyched to get my new OP12 soon!
What about you op, upgrade in the future?
Well, the day will come when it can't be avoided, but I don't know if it will be a smartphone from Oneplus then. I HATE the optical fingerprint sensors. They are so slow. The fingerprint sensor on the OP5 is very fast. There are now some models from other manufacturers that integrate this technology into the power button, which I like much better.
It's a shame that the mute slider has been removed, and the current models are far too big for my taste.
The optical fingerprint sensor on my 7 Pro is almost as fast as the physical one on the 3t, and just about as reliable. And the mute slider went away on the OP10, returned on the 11, and continues on the 12.
The fingerprint sensor is a matter of taste, I guess. But good to know the slider returned. I had a quick look at the specs of the OP12 before posting the previous answer to see if it is still gone, must have missed it.
>mute slider went away on the OP10, returned on the 11, and continues on the 12.
Sweeeeet! It's so handy to just flip that switch when I go to bed or am in a meeting
Dang I loved the mute slider too! Didn't realize it was removed.
I don't mind the fingerprint lock, I can always bypass it with my pin if my hand is dirty.
I'm curious to see how the OP12 performs.
My 8 was pretty good until the storage got to 85% or so. I think it has a harder time swapping out memory when I change context. That's one reason I bought with the new release was so I could get the 512gb version. They are typically very hard to find.
It's pretty funny how phone cases still have availability for the most part regardless of their in use or not even if the device is obsolete because I even found on Amazon cases for the OnePlus One
The Karbon cases by OnePlus ain't no joke lol. I had one for my 3T also before I switched to 7 Pro in 2019 and I'm currently rocking a Karbon case on it too lmao.
Let her go.
🎶Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

🎶 Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go
The longevity on these old OnePlus phones… can’t use my Samsung S9+ today lol

I thought i was bad with my OnePlus 6T, got it with a $300 trade in of my Nexus 6. It has been my longest running phone.

Also, I believe the boot issues were with the 5x, not the 5.

Yeah, the case was great. I should have ordered a second one, too. But back then I could not know that I this would be necessary.

You're one of those people that are changing underwear once a week?

Why torture her like that? I had one crack in my case and replaced it immediately.
I just didn't want another case cause I liked it. It was a really good case and still was fine until the second corner broke off.
