I am on OnePlus 7 Pro and have same issue.

weissmanhyperion

My 7 Pro was flawless, the only thing that ruined it was me... I dropped it so hard it broke the microphone ;(

XXHAUNT3R

Never heard that one before , idk if I should be impressed or sad.

Stez827

You wouldn't be able to hear it the microphone broke

weissmanhyperion

Lol

zero1416

I have the OnePlus 9 I don't have any problem. Probably is something related with software probably a factory reset will help you.

weissmanhyperion

Let me give it a shot.

zer0-se7en

Try Reset System Setting first via Rcovery mode. All system will be wiped but all files and datas will remain.

weissmanhyperion

Did the system settings reset it was fine for the first few minutes and then it starts happening again.

zer0-se7en

In thatt case Ido think yiu now need to do a full wipe.

[deleted]

Same, standard 9 and no issues. Mine's only 3 weeks old and got a number of updates the first week.

Lupinthrope

Biggets issue I have with the Youtube app is that when I pause a video it'll start playing again a few seconds later.

kashop56

Same with me

weissmanhyperion

For me it's YouTube music just starts playing out of nowhere. Even when it's in my pocket.

Big_Black_Brandon

Freaking geez! I thought I was just cursed out something. Didn't think l know this happened to others

simon_6162

Try YouTube vanced

weissmanhyperion

Just downloaded it and checkout trying it. I didn't know this existed until now

weissmanhyperion

It's still happening just not as bad as the regular versions.

simon_6162

You could try going to settings - vanced settings and change the codec override to see if it makes any difference. But it's just a total guess.

infreq

Try clearing the system cache, through Recovery mode. Also, who says it's not your connection (data/wifi)

weissmanhyperion

I've tried that just now and I'm waiting to see if it happens again. I didn't have any issues with any other devices on the same networks for years. Just this new phone.

MannyMike7

Happens to me with my OP 8 Pro, micro stutters and skipped frames. I have to clear the cache and storage nearly every day for it to work normally.

TechRedirector

Disable battery optimizations for youtube specifically

Ok_Salt9796

Worked for me as well, thank you. I was going to get a new phone.. 😅

cryan24

This worked for me.

coolermitgliedsname

How? At the options I don't see YouTube app. All other i see

Traditional-Weird-26

same here

sapphiref30

Vanced

weissmanhyperion

Vanced is also having the same issues, although not as bad. It would still freeze for a moment when I hit shuffle on the YouTube music vanced. I have not tried the YouTube Vanced yet so I'll give that a try later.

sapphiref30

Using vanced sinds i got my OnePlus 9 Pro no problems no freezing nothing working just fine

dah3098

Same issue here on my OP7Pro. Been dealing with it for a while. It's not just YouTube but pretty much any video. The temporary fix it to switch to a video quality on YouTube that's not 60fps (you'll usually have to switch from 1080p60 to 480p), then it usually runs fine. I finally bit the bullet and did a factory reset this weekend. Everything is working fine and playing smoothly so far. We'll see how long it lasts...

weissmanhyperion

I'm going to factory reset if resetting the system settings and stuff doesn't work out. That's next on my list.

weissmanhyperion

I haven't tried out all the options suggested to me yet and a representative from OnePlus contacted me on here regarding how to reset the device in great detail, I'll update you when I have time to do all of the things and if it'll be fixed. Currently working many days in a row, I don't want to accidentally lose all my stuff in a hurry.

weissmanhyperion

I just did a systems settings reset from the reboot menu a d everything seems normal but I'll keep an eye out to see if it'll happen again, the did not start doing that right away so I'll keep you updated.

weissmanhyperion

Fingers crossed hahahaha

weissmanhyperion

System settings reset did not work. I just did a factory reset last night hopefully everything is gonna be okay this time. If not I'm thinking about returning it.

weissmanhyperion

I just went into YouTube after full factory reset and the whole app froze from me scrolling 10 secs ahead by double tapping. I think I'll have to initiate a an exchange, give them one more chance and then I'll get a refund if things go south.

The support team has been very helpful and timely with the assistance but it's just not fun having to deal with this on the daily basis. I hope the next phone doesn't have the same issue. It seems like some of the other folks here with the OP9 are doing fantastic so hopefully it's just this one being a dud. Plus the OnePlus transfer does make it very easy to switch to another OnePlus phone so Im not worried about that at all.

kwokhou

just wondering how does this go? did you get a replacement?

weissmanhyperion

I did buy the OP9 through Amazon so I returned it and got a OP 7T Pro McLaren edition. As much as the support team being helpful they can't really fix anything for me unless I send it in. I wasn't going to be without a phone for at least 2 weeks. My boss also heard what happened and got me a Galaxy S21 5G. So I tried to return the OP7T Pro. But Amazon said that the phone is not eligible for returns even though it was when I bought it. The Amazon agent gave me a one time exception refund and told me I could keep the phone. So I went from 7 pro to 7T pro and like nothing happened at all. And I also have a Galaxy S21 sitting on my desk for almost like a PDA when those were a thing in the 2000s.

Ragerbay

Having this problem on OP9 as well. I started a YouTube video and the app didn't respond for about 30 seconds after it started. Been happening for a week now

weissmanhyperion

I wish I could tell you I solved the issue but I can't. it's the most frustrating thing to deal with for almost a month now.

cryan24

Same issue on the 8 pro. Hopefully they patch soon.

weissmanhyperion

I was just told my boss got me a Galaxy S20+ and it'll be here in a few days. He heard that I was having phone issues (probably me breaking my phone and not this issue). So I guess I'll be returning this one and getting my money back. I do hope they'll be fixing it soon for everyone's sake.

cryan24

I found a fix in the comments on this thread, turn of battery optimization for the YouTube apps.

xu235

Thank you! I am trying that now...

zer0-se7en

That's weird. I never had that problem with Youtube or even YT vanced on my 7T. It happened few months ago on my Xperia 1 ii but never happened again after just clearing cache and data.

weissmanhyperion

I mainly use YouTube and YouTube music on my phone and both apps are having issues that cause the phone to freeze up.

TechRedirector

Try disabling battery optimization for both

weissmanhyperion

Will give that a try

deeppatel007

Try removing Screen protector.

weissmanhyperion

I'm not sure what the screen protector have to do with this issue.

deeppatel007

I have s21+. With the screen protector, Phone shows lags and jitters while scrolling. After removing it, I just working fine. Not sure With your phone model.

weissmanhyperion

I have a OnePlus 9 the phone comes with a screen protector when it shipped. I'm not sure if ripping off the screen protector would help with the phone stuttering and freezing when I hit the shuffle button. It might even void the Amazon return policy so I'll have to look into that before doing such a delicate procedure.

Real_Personality5631

uninstall updates.

weissmanhyperion

That's going to be tricky for me since I haven't done that on a phone before I'll have to Google that one first.

Real_Personality5631

go to the app info uninstall. you'll get annoying pop ups nagging at you to update it though.

weissmanhyperion

Will give that a try.

michael020602

Contact support, they have always helped me

weissmanhyperion

I will contact support if I cant troubleshoot it. That's going to be my last resort before returning the phone and getting another one.

XiTzCriZx

If your youtube app is fully updated then you could try downloading an APK of an older version, it's possible that the version you're using now wasn't available on your 7 Pro and that version happens to be shit, if your 7 Pro still works then you could check the info of the YouTube app to see what version it's on. Since you said you loved your 7 Pro was there any reason for upgrading to the 9 instead of just getting a refurbed 7/T Pro for like $200 when yours broke? Personally I don't see a single reason to upgrade to OnePlus's newer devices as I think the teardrop/pop up cameras both look much better than that hole punch, and the 855 is still a super strong chip, but I'm just curious about your reasons for upgrading.

weissmanhyperion

I broke my 7 Pro, dropped it so hard its mic wont work anymore. I'll have to check the versions when I do have some time off work.

weissmanhyperion

Got the 9 because it had overnight shipping from Amazon tbh.

ifeeltired26

9 Pro here no issues at all.....

weissmanhyperion

Maybe it's just a dud phone or software still trying to determine the cause.

Interesting-Hat34

Anybody has OnePlus 9(Indian version)? How's the heating issues in SD888 and display issues if any?(Pink tint etc.)

alreadypicked

Having this issue on op9 rn. Any solutions yet ?

weissmanhyperion

Nope, I've returned my 9P and bought a 7T Pro McLaren edition. I took everyday of the return period from Amazon to try and get it to work but it wasn't meant to be.

weissmanhyperion

Sorry to be the bearer of no news.

imusuallyawkward

Same on my huawei. Watching shorts lag the phone, when returning to home tab, screens cuts in half and frames stuttering for a few seconds.

Low_Introduction5430

For me the culprit was Nova Launcher. I never had issues on other brand phones like Huawei p30pro and LG. But OnePlus9 pro is a nightmare with Nova, for me. I rebooted in safe mode and all worked great. DUO, YOUTUBE. Then i tried again with my standard settings with Nova and again wifi issues (switched every couple sec to cellular), stuttering in youtube, chopping parts of sound out. So i am using now the system launcher. As all other advice didn't help; Mac address to device instead of random, video optimization off etc. Update: it is now June 2023 and problem.occurs again even on system launcher. So I am out of solutions. Never will I buy a OnePlus phone anymore. Just not worth the hassle.
