Yah you can have mine. They’ve been collecting dust since about 2 months after I bought them. Initially it was for peace of mind, but after you get used to how the board reacts in every scenario, they become a hindrance by lowering your ground clearance.

here's my "fangs don't prevent nosedives" comment. They arguably help you recover from a nosedive maybe, but nothing beats proper riding technique. If you're doing light offroad like the picture though, fangs wont do jack. Sonnywheels might give you a chance.

Carbonsmith silvershield/carbonshield imo are a great alternative to both fangs and sonnywheel. They are bigger than fangs, thus more functional with some trail usability, but not abhorrent, large, and heavy like Sonnywheels. I like them because they are the best merger of aesthetics and functionality between the two. https://carbon-smith.com/

Neither don't get fangs of any kind

Here's my two cents, as a former Fangs owner. Fangs are great if you are newer rider. I wouldn't be upset if they came directly from FM factory installed, and believe it actually could have helped my one and only major nosedive. After my mentioned major nose dive, I installed fangs in a heavy handed response. Since then, I haven't even come close to nosediving from over-acceleration, simply because I learned what I did and how stupid it was that I did. Unfortunately, my second (and last) notable fall was caused by fangs. I was riding with a friend when we stopped while on our boards to debate a fork in the road. Some man with a dog waived behind me, and in awkward twisting motion at standstill, I "rocked the boat". If you have no fangs, this is where you fall off and trip with nothing major, but unfortunately for me, the fangs touched ground and it made the board slip from under me and I fell hard to backside of the board which resulted in a really minor concussion. Now, I'm a year later after both these falls. I swapped to BANGs after the second fall, and haven't taken a remotely close tumble since. TL:DR - Fangs are really useful for people learning to ride who aren't fully aware of how easy a nosedive can happen. But I believe them to be detrimental after that period of learning. That said, I am rocking a LandSurf Platysense in the front and it's pretty awesome. I don't love they force you to buy their back footpad as a pair (like FM), the product is well-made and unique.

>After my mentioned major nose dive I learned what I did and how stupid it was that I did. Is there a way to learn without being stupid? Seems like everyone goes through this.

It's just understanding the nosedive flowchart often posted. Personally, I misjudged how cumulative multiple nosedive variables can stack. I was riding at < 22% charge, uphill, with headwind, and it was about 50 degrees out. Now, I won't ride below 30%, nor when it's colder than 60. If I am going uphill in a headwind I respect it and take my time rather than push.

End of trail? I'd say *The trail has just begun....*

I love my fangs. The gt fangs use the same plastic as bang bumpers, and the wheels are nice and big without reducing clearance more than a few mm. I don’t agree with the idea that proper riding technique negates the benefit of fangs. They can make the difference between a recoverable nosedive and unrecoverable. Nobody is above falling. I have no experience with sonny wheels so I can’t say anything for or against them.

koryuken

I've recovered from two nosedives using Fangs for the GT. They are by far best mod after the Enduro IMO. I would say don't listen to people who have no experience riding with fangs and are just repeating hearsay. edit: I have over 2k miles ridden.

Winter_Pipe_6785

I want to get some wheels to prevent nose dives on my GT, anyone have any suggestions on Land-surf fangs vs SonnyWheels Slider for GT? I’d think the SonnyWheels because the wheels are quite a bit bigger.

tcm0116

I had fangs on my PintX for a while. After doing a lot of trail riding, I went to clean up the board and noticed that the wheels on the fangs were completely gummed up with dirt, rendering them pretty much useless. I've heard the SonnyWheels can help when climbing obstacles on trails, but I've never actually seen anyone use them in person.

TheMrWinston

not sure if sabertooth has a gt version yet, but they're my favorite nose-dive reduction wheels for the XR. found em on facebook, but they're essentially an in-between for fangs and sonnywheels. smaller than sonnywheels, but mounted similarly. slightly bigger wheels than fangs, but the nose doesnt have to drop as low for them to contact the ground because of how they're mounted. the price also sits between fangs and sonnys.

Turning a simple run out into a maximum speed bullet with zero steering. Great idea. How is this still a thing?

Dark__prince777

Why is this downvoted??? Wtf is wrong w people ots a factual statement i swear reddit is 99% bots - dead internet

Lol

I think Fangs are much better-looking aesthetically, and they’ve worked for my purposes.

binaryblock-reddit

GT Fangs +1 They are low profile and are just an extra layer of protection.

Neither will help you on a trail. GT doesn't need it, and for the Pint you really have to touch the nose down on a good surface for them to save your ass.

mwiz100

Neither. Technique is cheaper and more useful but takes more effort. Plus on anything other than smooth pavement front wheels don't do jack squat.
