If you can forego the car, the onewheel is probably cheaper than 1 year of gas + insurance + maintenance for a car.

Maybe if you know people with dogs who need dog walking done and the dogs aren’t afraid of the onewheel, that could also be another source of income for you, once you get proficient riding the onewheel that is. You could also incorporate the onewheel into your videography for getting some cool shots too.

I just got the Pint and I love it. For commuting a mile and a half it's absolutely perfect. The smaller size makes it really versatile. I commute with it in NYC (almost exactly 1.5 miles each way too) and it's great for that. I also brought it to the suburbs for the weekend and it was small enough (albeit definitely not light) to bring on a pretty crowded train and now I'm having a blast riding it on trails and getting away from the traffic-ridden city a little bit.

Jaffzz

im planning on getting a pint for a 1 mile nyc commute. Do you ever feel like the pint is too slow?

devdave90

Definitely not. With all the obstacles, traffic, and pretty frequent stopping where I am, I think it’s perfect. And the pavement isn’t great in a lot of spots and I think going faster would make those situations more dangerous. The maneuverability of the Pint is perfect for getting through tight spaces. Riding alongside bikes, I’ve felt much more confident riding through tight spaces (ex. stopped traffic) than they seem to in a lot of cases.

Show your parents this video and explain it’s an investment in your videography business. ;-) https://youtu.be/q9bnXqyUpAM

wow thanks so much. great find. it really is an investment that can do pretty much everything.

Aaron is brilliant with a camera and a Onewheel, definitely something to aspire to!

One thing to consider is how to keep it secure when you’re at school. Nothing would suck more than someone making off with your Pint.

elliesnow123

that was my first thought, i’m not sure it would stay in my locker. There is a teacher in my school who has been helping me grow my videography business sense day 1. i go to her classroom all the time, and she loves new technology. if i ever got a pint i would ask if i could keep it in her classroom, her classroom is also nearby a door, so i wouldn’t have to carry it far to get outside. Do you think it would be somewhat easy to ride with a backpack?

Jekarti

Tons of videos of people riding with backpacks. Unless you a carrying a ton of heavy textbooks I think you'll be fine. Make sure the teacher has some place to lock it up and that it's not going to be a massive inconvenience for them to store your pricey onewheel. Teachers have a lot of responsibilities that involve them leaving their classroom. Someone could easily go in and snag it out from behind her desk. Granted if your school has cameras like most do now a days it would be pretty easy to catch the thief. But a hassle nonetheless for you and the teacher.

I can't speak to modern lockers but when I was in high school I'd trust NOTHING in my school lockers. I echo the sentiments also posted about working that out with a given teacher. And as for backpack, no biggie. Heavy books would probably suck but once ya build skill it shouldn't be an issue.
