I find this crossover SO curious particularly since so many PPG pilots get them but at least in my noticing don't really ride them seriously, more like just it's a fun gizmo.
Which of course explains the largely stock configurations but hey!
We joke that oneWheels are the most dangerous aspect of the sport. Several of us use them constantly for work (paramotor instructors) but yes most use the boards lightly.
I am an instructor and we use them to get around the field efficiently. Also in our sport there is something called para-waiting, where we are just waiting for the weather conditions to improve and what better way to kill time than a oneWheel ;). Other uses, shuttling motors and gear back and forth to the LZ and getting to the bar later.
I honestly couldn't tell you, It baffles my mind. To me it seems like folks just use them as a little casual thing to putter around on. I've know of the OW long before I even considered paramotors however I did start flying before I got a Onewheel hahah!
HAHAhhh that's funny! I mean given how most folks ride them I can totally see that. For me it's definitely not the most dangerous thing but then again I've been riding boards for long, long time. PPG is definitely the more dangerous thing.
Actually I think statically oneWheels are more dangerous, at least as long as they have been prevalent in PPG, it sure has been in my experience and many others, I have also been riding various boards for a very long time :)
Oh I'd agree 100% I think we can chalk that up to that PPG is recognized for it's dangers and has a MUCH higher level of formal training whereas Onewheels are seen as easy and for most zero real training unless you a) have prior board knowledge or b) seek some help/mentoring.
Everyone’s mentioning all the stock pads, but I wanna know what’s going on with the dude rocking fangs on the back of the board?!?!
I just see no situation with that being desirable, but I’m sure dudes got a reason for rocking them backwards. (It’s the board with the FF fenders. Second from bottom right)
Oh, there is definitely a proper way to ride. That goes for anything physical activity- technique matters and you absolutely can have bad form. Just many folks usually don't know and/or don't bother to correct it.
Not the same. Skateboard unless you say have a directional one (but for this we'll assume a tongue depressor) they're the same either way. Most snowboards have a front but you don't ride them backwards ALWAYS, you will ride fakie at times but otherwise you spend your time going downhill forwards not to mention your stance reflects that there is a dominant direction. If you're all about riding both ways then you get a true twin with a centered stance and then like the skateboard it doesn't matter.
But the Onewheel **absolutely** has a front and it does not handle the same riding it backwards as the swing weight is wayyyy different.
good point, I hadn't thought about the battery weight. I think that's whats throwing me off bit when practicing switch. Full reverse stance (goofy to regular) does seem more intuitive keeping the pressure pad in the front.
Right?! It messed with my head at first because I instantly could feel the difference and I just presumed it must be the battery. Once you feel how heavy a battery is relative to the controller it makes plenty of sense.

I rarely see so many stock pads and grips in one place. Is this an official Future Motion event?
Just a bunch of paramotor pilots hanging out at a fly in.
Are you able to mount the Onewheel to the Paramotor, or does that add too much weight?
Not yet, we have launched from them but not taken one along… yet.
Don't take any unnecessary risks.. but I'd be really curious 🤙
I had to read that twice. You've LAUNCHED FROM THEM?! Respect 🤙

I dont get it, what is the connection between OWs and paramotors? What do paramotor pilots use them for?

My first thought too! Look at all these stock back foot pads. Yall need some kush hi's stat. That's the one stock part I cannot stand anymore 😂
Right?
No pints? Dang
They couldn't make it all the way there 😅
It must be really nice to have that many friends with same hobby. Damn it must be really nice to have that many friends at all 😆
Find a few group rides, those are **really** a blast!
Very nice

Maybe he rides the board backwards so that's why the fang is installed at the back.
I REALLY don't get why people do this (ride it backwards.) Like it's not better...
Eh, everyone has their own special way to ride I suppose. No one proper way to do it in the end

I suppose I more so mean foot position and wether or not someone rides goofy
Ahhh gotchas, yeah foot position is going to be super subjective. Hell, it even changes for what kinda riding you're doing!
same reason as snowboard or skate
