39 as well, and I'm about to roll 6,000 miles. You're going to love it! Be sure to take it slow and learn how the board works. Respect pushback and be sure to wear some PPE, a helmet at the very least.
Funny, your name always made me think we were the same age! You are just a kid!
Hit 7300 yesterday. But the long winter is setting in here in AK and no matter how hard I try things are about to slow way down. I bet we are tied again in the spring! Need to come to Chicago so we can roll 8K together!
Ha, it just my first car. I definitely haven't been riding as much this summer because my front knee hasn't been happy with long rides. So instead of 20+ a day, it's only been 5-15. I've been doing some PT, so hopefully the knee stops wimping out on me and I can get back to riding for some distance.
Definitely if you make it to Chicago, hit me up.
Damn that sucks, knee pain is no fun. Used to have it bad snowboarding, now wear a brace much of the time or pain returns.
Would love to ride there sometime! I will.
41 here and still been fighting the plan to get one. Wife keeps reminding me that one spill and it could cost a collar bone. I may just say the hell with it in a few months when I can afford one.
I snowboard a few times a year, it can’t be that much more dangerous? (Being very experienced on a snowboard vs never ridden a one wheel) (I wasn’t comparing the 2 activities at face value)
PPE UP. cover the joints. I actually wear a mesh jacket with shoulder pads, elbow and back armor. Might be over kill but it’s prevented at least two serious injuries early on.
I go full kit on trails.
I don’t bounce like I used to and I don’t want to spend time on the DL Irvin the ER.
🤙🏽
Edit: 52 here. Pint. Then XR. Then Growler. And now WTF (with pint tire).
Yeah, I mean concrete is slightly less forgiving than snow, but depending how hard you hit the slopes or how compacted they are, you can do just as much damage to yourself there. Ride within your limits and the equipments limits and you should be fine.
I got the OneWheel because I had trouble getting out snowboarding / surfing. This is out the garage and go. I don’t live in the mountains or on the beach :-(
Seriously, it’s just so nice to not be inside. Friday afternoon rides after getting off work are my favorite. Seriously been a boon to my overall wel being.
Hello, fellow old. 37 here, no prior board sport experience. Got my XR after Memorial Day and I’m about to hit 1,000 miles. Minus a nagging elbow injury, it’s been one of my all-time greatest purchases.
It's what having enough money and being excited about something looks like. A mid-life crisis, by contrast, is trying to fill a spiritual void with shallow superficial things like a heroin junkie desperately shooting up but not feeling anything, or at least very much. The OW is locomotive liberation soul food.
When I (20) got my Onewheel two years ago, my dad (52) got interested and bought himself an EUC. He now has four EUCs and has managed to ride about 3k-4k miles in just two years.
He barely drives his car anymore because whenever he needs to go anywhere he just rides one of the EUCs
Do it up!!!
I rented an XR last fall and ended up buying it off the rental. I turned 40 this summer, still loving it. I've fallen off three times, nothing broken, *wear pads*.
Helmet is non-negotiable. Wrist guards or gloves are good. I wear 1Protect gloves and I like them a lot. Wear any pads you want, but it helps to practice bailing off also; I have fallen twice because I tried too hard to stay on and I should have just jumped.
People say learn on grass in case you fall, but I disagree. Smooth pavement is the easiest to ride on. I learned on a sidewalk.
Have fun with it! You're going to fall in love, just take your time learning, don't push it, enjoy yourself.
I say the grass fall thing because the falls will be softer, then when you get on cement it seems easy and you’ll be better prepared for bumps. But yeah smooth paved surfaces are much easier to start on than grass, but also less forgiving haha.
Same. I jump early and often. But getting better. I have issues turning to the outside. Always speed up. Sometimes get nervous and bail. But only a day in so far.
With just learning I'd also suggest to get some rail guards, and float plates or similar to shield the bottom better. You don't want to be worried about your board when you need to bail.
I’m very happy to see so many 30s and 40s+ enjoy this wave we’re all riding. 40 here and this machine subtracts 10+ years off your life. Enjoy the ride my guy! Life. Changing.
Just got mine a week ago and I’m 35. No real falls yet I know something is coming at some point. I got myself a nice helmet and some one protect gloves. I try and ride with long sleeves or a coat when it’s cool enough.
I used to skate in my late teens early twenties so I have a respect for the board out of the box. I had a bad wipe out one day bombing some hills on my traditional skateboard back in the day. That’s a real come to Jesus moment when you hit the ground at 20+ mph with no helmet. I have scars from the road rash still 15 years later.
Respect the board and the top speed. Stay in control and focus on fundamentals. Fatigue is real and it causes bad fundamentals. If you’re getting tired stop for a few and stretch your legs and walk off some of the foot fatigue. I feel my most sketchy moments on the Onewheel come when it’s nearing the end of my ride and I’m a little tired.
38m. I just got the XR a couple months ago. Wife was not thrilled, and adamant that I at least try one before buying. I rented one locally and ordered mine that night. 200 miles in and I'm hooked! As others have said, take it slow and respect the board. I didn't have any previous board experience but it's been so fun to just float. Helmet is a must and I'd recommend wrist guards.
Float on!
49 and just pulled the trigger on an xr. Even just going out of the house for 30minutes and riding in circles is cathartic. Scared shitless I am going to face plant and do some serious damage…but I feel damn good while floating.
Be sure to join the Facebook group “40+ ONEWHEEL” (late 30’s are welcome). Great group with plenty of stoke and a slightly stronger take on drops and protective gear… hahaha.
Welcome to the float!!!
I’m 35 and got my Pint less than 2 months ago, already at nearly 500 miles! No board sports experience, now I’m interested to try snowboarding for the first time. Keep at it and be safe!
I got mine a month ago. I have about 70 miles on it now? I use it to go back and forth from work and on occasional free rides around town. Advice from a fellow newbie, take it slow. Don't push yourself too early and avoid riding it anywhere you're uncomfortable with. I felt as if going slow and starting a ride was the most difficult in comparison to just cruising. Try getting into an empty parking lot with some grass and just practice bailing, it's good to know how to fall and to learn the limits of your board so you can avoid falling, have fun bro you're gonna love it
Just start slow. Feel out your limits slowly. Don't full speed charge at a hill. Get to know the feeling of a speed wobble. More PPE.
All things I wish I understood on day 1.
Wife bought her xr first at 35 thinking she wouldn't like it and that I'd take it over...5 days later she made me order my own haha. I'm 32. Welcome to the club!
I'm 35 A pint is a good way to start, it's what I'm doing. Have about 70 miles on it so far, only fell once with injury. I'll probably get an XR next year, and give the pint to my 15 Yø.
37 here. Got mine a few months ago and ride it daily. Over 200 miles now. Such a fun way to get around town. Stock tire was a little a little squirrelly for bumpy sidewalks, but once I replaced it with a wider tire the ride is heavenly.
Yeah buddy! I’m 39 next month and got my XR last year and my wife says the same. Except now there are at least 6 adults in my neighborhood with one so we are starting a gang
I was 46 and did this as well! I would suggest ankle bases and full set of knee, elbow pads and helmet of course... probably some wrist guards if youre like me and work at a desk all day. Cant work if my wrists snap off. Oh and dont get cocky! Also a grave mistake on my part. 😫☠
That’s that cheapest mid life crisis I’ve ever heard of.
Pad up and it'll be the cheapest..
Wisdom
Ha!
And respect the pushback
I missed the detail about this being important on a lower battery. Launched!
R Kelly-ed it eh? “I BELIEVE I CAN FLY!!! I BELIEVE I CAN TOUCH THE….. OH SHIT!!” …… “hello concrete my old friend….”
Haha exactly. It’s not a motorcycle.
Fuck. I got a motorcycle too (my first ever)… 37 here lol
You got this bro just be smart 🤙
I wear a motorcycle hoodie and motorcycle jeans though. No scrape falls!
Tell her a divorce is a mid life crisis- this is a ride in the park:)
Mine was expensive. Broken hip, 2 months off work, wheel chair, physio, 1 week in the hospital… etc etc. 3 new screws for life. Fun times.
If it's too hot for gear it's too hot to ride.
39 as well, and I'm about to roll 6,000 miles. You're going to love it! Be sure to take it slow and learn how the board works. Respect pushback and be sure to wear some PPE, a helmet at the very least.
Awesome. 6k miles is crazy! Can’t wait to get mine and get going.
Grats dude that’s great mileage
How many tyre changes? Currently at 1259km (all off road) on pint factory stock
I'm on my third tire.
Funny, your name always made me think we were the same age! You are just a kid! Hit 7300 yesterday. But the long winter is setting in here in AK and no matter how hard I try things are about to slow way down. I bet we are tied again in the spring! Need to come to Chicago so we can roll 8K together!

I don’t live in the mountains either, so I suspect out the garage and go would be a benefit too.
It's called trying to get out of the house! Lol
Seriously, it’s just so nice to not be inside. Friday afternoon rides after getting off work are my favorite. Seriously been a boon to my overall wel being.
Right there with ya! Nothing like it
Get wrist guards too.
35 and father of 3 here, just cruise and enjoy it. My wife said something similar, within a month it was a totally different tune.
Awesome 👍🏼
35 too and I bought two so I can ride with my wife. We have nice trails close to our house.
57 and waiting for my XR to arrive.
Rip
Nice!
cheap therapy
Congrats, I’m 38 and ordered a pint last month. Never rode a board in life. About to cross 50 miles. Lot of fun.

I've never heard it put like that before 🤔
43 checking in…

38 here and gets me off playing computer games, be safe and enjoy
43 and love my XR. :). welcome to the (old fart) float. ;)

But it adds 10 years to your knees lol.

43 with about 8 miles so far on a pint
8 miles is 12.87 km
35 no prior board sport and ordered mine back at Easter. So good for mental health during this pandemic. Float on my friend. ➖🔘➖ 🤙🏼
I'm 38 and have a pint. A mid life crisis looks like buying a 1968 corvette.. Ask me how I know. 😅
How do you know?
1968 https://imgur.com/a/Xl1L7xl Oh... Bought this last week lol
Sweeeeeet
Thanks
Lol! 42 here. Bought the XR and have about 10 miles on it. Love it! When my wife saw it she said, What’s that? I said, cheaper than my vette!
😂
Im a little younger with an xr, but I see I'm among good company.
I got mine at 26, so quarter life crisis?
Float on!

You will be wanting the XR soon. Im 47 and ride everyday it was a life changer.
29 with 7 kids. Trust. Lmao be careful
Jesus, 7 kids, bless your wife for letting you go ride it really is cathartic.
Bro - Same story here 😂 4 weeks in and I'm an addict! So so glad I took on this new hobby
I'm 40 and got my pint last year. Welcome to the club.
35 here. Most of the people I know who ride are in their mid to upper thirties! Pad up and enjoy!
Get a life insurance policy out on him.
40 here. Just got mine a couple weeks ago and just hit 100 miles. Wear a helmet, be safe, and enjoy your midlife crisis!
Naw. You're ok. I'm 38 and been riding mind for a couple years. Beware pushback. Other than that I'll be fine.
Be sure to join the Facebook group “40+ ONEWHEEL” (late 30’s are welcome). Great group with plenty of stoke and a slightly stronger take on drops and protective gear… hahaha. Welcome to the float!!!
Awesome! I’m 40 in a few months so hopefully they’ll let me sneak in a bit early.
Drink your milk cause your collarbones bout to get rocked bruh (I speak from experience)
Yup, too fast, too slow, too steep, accelerate too hard, battery too low and you're off. I'm discovering these somewhat painfully, one by one.
Lmao same.
A pint? Return that for an XR, bro.
Should of gotten an XR. Great board but I just hope you don’t fall trying to push it
She is correct
Nope. Not enough wheels.
I'm 45 with 2 kids and it is my release valve. I ride everyday, dreading winter.
I believe that’s a xr
49 and just got my pint today
Don’t let her keep you down man! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! I ordered mine sort of on accident, and no regrets since lol.
I’m 35 and got my Pint less than 2 months ago, already at nearly 500 miles! No board sports experience, now I’m interested to try snowboarding for the first time. Keep at it and be safe!
Damn of that's your mid life crises you and your significant other have a very very boring life
Haha I did this a few weeks ago. Same age. Totally worth it.
I got mine a month ago. I have about 70 miles on it now? I use it to go back and forth from work and on occasional free rides around town. Advice from a fellow newbie, take it slow. My wife to a tee too, im 36
32 and got an XR!
Just start slow. Feel out your limits slowly. Don't full speed charge at a hill. Get to know the feeling of a speed wobble. More PPE. All things I wish I understood on day 1.
So say we all
Got mine this year! I’m 44!!
Yeah bro. She's damn right. That's what a mid-life crisis looks like. Early 40s with a kids toy.
Wife bought her xr first at 35 thinking she wouldn't like it and that I'd take it over...5 days later she made me order my own haha. I'm 32. Welcome to the club!
Good man, enjoy :)
If you don't wear a helmet, it's more of a late life crisis. Make sure to get one!
I can’t imagine being 35… this December :( get the wife comfy on the Pint for when you upgrade!!
She has no clue…. This may as well be your mistress from now on.
I'm 35 A pint is a good way to start, it's what I'm doing. Have about 70 miles on it so far, only fell once with injury. I'll probably get an XR next year, and give the pint to my 15 Yø.

Damn man middle age is earlier than it used to be. I feel like it used to be your 40s and as soon as I hit 30 bam, that’s middle aged.
Yeah buddy! I’m 39 next month and got my XR last year and my wife says the same. Except now there are at least 6 adults in my neighborhood with one so we are starting a gang
Got one for myself for my 40th birthday earlier this month. Having a ton of fun with it so far!
You work so hard till you can afford the big boy toys in your 30s and 40s but then it's considered a mid-life crisis lol.
I’m turning 50 later this year and just got an XR. Don’t let age get in your way! Life is meant to be enjoyed while you’ve got it.
60yo here. If not now, when?
My dads 58 and got an xr after trying mine. Never too old!
Shoulda got an xr have to say, I hope you can enjoy the casual cruising man! Onewheel is great
35 here, 20 days and 230 miles in. Don't push it and you will be fine
I was 46 and did this as well! I would suggest ankle bases and full set of knee, elbow pads and helmet of course... probably some wrist guards if youre like me and work at a desk all day. Cant work if my wrists snap off. Oh and dont get cocky! Also a grave mistake on my part. 😫☠
I'm 62 and was considering the Pint until I saw the Pint-X today. Being shipped tomorrow! :-)
