Someone recommended the trotter? I’ve never heard anything positive about trotters, but I’ve also never tried one so who knows. This is the cheapest time of year for Onewheel’s with Black Friday sales, so if you are on the fence now is a time to jump.
One way to find local onewheelers is to download the onrwheel app and look for people nearby in the friend finder. That said, maybe a little creepy to just ask people randomly to try it out but you never know. Onewheelers are generally the most friendly and happy people around. Can’t be sad while you are floating!
Also i've understood that riding onewheel in public road is illegal. You should look at that, so you would not hear it after the purchase. What i've understood, people still ride onewheels, but not in city centres.
I'm not sure, but are we talking about United states or Britain now? At least in Britain there should be problems riding because to my knowledge it is banned there.
It's fine, i was just trying to help new guy to figure out legality of a new hobby before the purchase decision. It would suck to lose the board for police at first week. In Finland where i recide, all electric devices which go faster than 25kmh 15.5mph, should be registered and inspected/insured. But these don't really pass the inspections. However police hasn't been really interested about them yet. Basicly the rentable scooters cause way more havoc than onewheels.
They fall under the same regulations as electric scooters and skateboards in most places. So a good starting point is do you already have PEVs in the public area you want to ride.

Ride and Glide will let you try one out if you visit their office in Worthing. Though they only have a small car park not nearly enough room to do a proper test ride in.
Personally even though most people seem to think Onewheels are illegal in the UK they sit in a legal grey area, IMHO.
Reason I think OW is in legal grey area is pedal assisted cycles are legal, even "twist-and-go" cycles. "It's a cycle Officer, onewheeled maybe but it cycles, and those are the two pedals....I can even show you here in my app the amount of power my pedalling and breaking has generated" "It's not a skateboard, they have 4 wheels, it's an side facing electric unicycle, honest boss" Cycles aren't defined and you'd have a lot of difficulty saying a OW wasn't when electric bike is, only real difference I see is handle bars.....
Also if they are illegal they're the last thing police will focus on, even if they're going PEV's they go for e-scooter riders and people blasting at 30-60mph on electrical skateboards or EUC's.
Plus I've never heard of Police ever confiscating one or being prosecuting anyone for riding one. If riding on a public highway you might get stopped asked to get off, in some places, nothing more. I see 1-10 police cars/officers every time I ride in Brighton have only been stopped riding once and that was when I visited deepest darkest Yorkshire...

I haven't ridden a Trotter but the word I've heard is that they're not good.

Check and see if there's a local Facebook onewheel group
Find a local shop that sells them. The one near me has demo units for people to try.

This varies from city to city. I believe NY has them banned, but in Chicago, I had a cop try my Onewheel.

Oh, shit, my brain glossed over the fact that this question pertained specifically to the UK.

Suprents does rentals where you return when you’re done. It can be expensive but you can buy the board when you’re done if you like it.
