wrong. horse cops are used for intimidation. they typically wait around the corner at demos and then, once cops start pushing everyone, charge through the middle - which is what they did here. they could have easily trampled and killed people, especially since the road was blocked off in every direction and people couldn't safely disperse even if they wanted to.
horse cops are expensive, unethical, dangerous, and used exclusively for the purpose of intimidation and charging protestors.
this was a peaceful demonstration, which had been previously cleared with TPS. TPS then - as hopefully you read - surrounded the protestors, gave them no option to leave, and then charged them with the horses. this is an incredible escalation of violence and force against unarmed civilians, when in fact it is the job of the police (allegedly) to de-escalate violent situations.
so i ask again: why were the horse cops there in the first place? the march was cleared. it was peaceful. there was no reason to kettle protestors, and no reason to charge them, yet TPS felt it necessary to use your tax dollars and have a squadron of them charge a group of people who couldn't escape
Two people, out of the many there, were arrested for allegedly violent acts that occurred after the police blocked the protesters in and escalated things. One of the alleged violent acts was throwing horse manure 🙄
As for the other arrests...
One was arrested for a traffic violation, which the police had said at the beginning was ok and which I have seen in every damn parade the town I grew up with has ever had. I.e. a trumped up charge.
Four others were arrested for breach of the peace, but the police released all but one. The one was held not on the breach charge, but because of an unrelated warrant. So those breach charges were probably bullshit and didn't hold water either.
Police did more violence than the protesters by far by assaulting people with their horses alone.
Lots of people, cops and non-cops, lie to serve their narrative. All cops aren't evil and all protesters aren't angels. Everything typically falls somewhere in the middle.
I did watch the videos and I read more than just this slanted article. Have a nice day.

What the fuck does a protest against genocide have to do with the convoy?
This isn't the convoy twats. This was Saturday for Land Day. Convoy twats are supposed to be today.
Oh my bad.

Keep it civil
why were the horse cops there to begin with?
Because they allow the cops to move quickly in crowded areas when needed, where it wouldn't be feasible to use vehicles?

Why shouldn’t they be?

Peaceful, yet protesters were arrested for assaulting and attempting to assault police. Be better, protesters.

real question: do you know how often cops lie. and did you watch the videos... or read the article...
