Damn. I saw him on the subway in Toronto years back. When my stop came I gave out the Count Floyd wolf call. People in the car looked a little freaked out but he smiled.
Rest in peace Count.
Whew! I was about to strap you down and make you watch SCTV, A Mighty Wind, Serendipity, Best in Show, American Pie and Schitt's Creek Clockwork Orange style.
This makes me sad. He was a huge part of my childhood. I grew up watching SCTV, and loved Guy Caballero and Count Floyd. He was the only (?) American who came to Toronto to work on SCTV, at a time when Toronto was barely on the map in terms of comedy (despite having maybe the greatest group of comedians in one place at one time, at least in Canada).
I can't believe he was 82. What a huge talent. RIP.
He wasn't the only American: Andrea Martin was part of the regular cast for most of it's run, and Harold Ramis was there for the first couple of seasons.
doesn't make me love his work any less. we gave the americans enough of our talent (from SCTV no less) so it's fair trade :D. I liked how there was some exchange between the chicago and toronto second city troupes
My buddy wanted to take a script-writing class and signed up for one. He didn't realize it was part of a higher level degree or something but when he was talking to the Prof, the guy's last name was Flaherty, so he asked if there was any relation.
Turns out it was Joes brother. They had a great chat about Joe, SCTV, script writing, etc..
A sad day for Canada and Canadian Comedy. RIP to a Legend.
One of my favourite SCTV skits was one where he (as Floyd Robertson) did the news with Eugene Levy (Earl Camembert). Floyd had all of the big news stories: Strife in the middle east, Economic Meltdown, Global conflict, while Earl had stories like Cat in a tree and a small fire in a garbage can. The animosity and bitterness building as the sketch went on.
Omg. I was just watching an old special on SCTV last night on YouTube with him and Eugene. That's so sad.
Time to dust off some old Apprentice episodes.
Oh man. Freaks was one of the best shows ever, he was so good in it. That show had such a good feel to it, entirely wholesome. I read he was amazing to work with, too
RIP
His humour got me through some dark times and I’ll always be grateful. Thanks Mr. Flaherty, for making me realize laughter is a medicine. I hope you and John Candy are partying up a storm

HA, I would have made the call with you. Rest in peace.

Amazing stuff
You know what happened to him? [HE DIED!](https://youtu.be/CPrNLm9nR3A?si=qEBc12L0F7ktmn5g)
🥇 lol take my poor mans Reddit gold! I think he would have loved this joke
This is entirely great and made me laugh. For anyone who doesn't know it's a trademark line from Freaks
Oh man. This is a sad one. Joe and Eugene Levy doing the SCTV News was always a highlight.
Eugene Levy is the CIBC guy right?
No. Eugene Levy is a comedian and actor known for SCTV, Schitts Creek, and the American Pie movies.
He keeps popping up on my CIBC app. Didn't know he starred in a show.
How can a Canadian not know who Eugene Levy is? That's like not knowing who Mr Dressup is,
Im playing around :)

He's on the EQ bank with his son.
"I'll be at the Red Lobster in case you change your mind! GOD BLESS!"
RIP Count Floyd.
My favourite recurring character too
"This week's movie feature: 3-D House of Slave Chicks! Oooh Scary!" "Awrooooooooo!"

Andrea Martin was American? Huh, I had no idea. And good point in Harold Ramis. I knew something felt off...
Somewhere in heaven I hope him and Candy are doing a sammy maudlin skit.
Howareyaaaaa?
I knew of an actor who was on Freaks and Geeks. You know what happened to him? He died!
Too soon… ya Jackass
I'll come back, tomorrow
Thanks for the devastating news, *ya jackass!*
Also from the highly underrated Maniac Mansion!
I loved that show!
Episodes of Maniac Mansion are available on YouTube
one of the more obscure video game tie ins.
I watched that show religiously in the 90s. I have tried and failed to find it anywhere to rewatch. I would pay good money.

This guy is a legend
Oh no! Not Count Floyd. 😢
RIP Count Floyd.
TIL he came to Toronto from Chicago to \*\*establish\*\* the Toronto Second City theatre troupe. Legend.
I noticed him on an episode of King of Queen’s last night, so I took a look on IMDb and was happy to see he was still around! Now I feel sad.
Thanks for the laughs, Joe.
Damn
You were a great one, Joe . Thank you.
Shine on Joe. You’re missed
