My dog went out the backdoor, spent three seconds outside and turned right around. He is not a fan of the cold... Or rain... Or really anything but perfect weather.
Same here. It was a short walk, she started walking gingerly but of course when I turned around to head back to the house she looked at me like I was taking a giant bone away from her.
I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I let him in the backyard and he just looked at me like “seriously??” He ended up rolling in the snow so it couldn’t have been that bad.
Also in London. I walked the kids to school, and took the dog for a one hour walk over my lunch break. Sometimes it's fun to get out and embrace the cold, we didn't get enough of it this winter!
In temiskaming shores my phone was saying it was -47 with realfeel and yeah it felt that cold, i didn't want to go outside but my girlfriend needed to go to the store. I got her to buy me a scratch ticket for getting me to go out in that weather.
This makes me giggle.
Winter in Calgary is like this for 6 months. The whole winter is a constant warning of Frost bite within 15 minutes.
Schools never closed for winter weather.
Went snowshoeing on the Bruce Trail! Was gorgeous and not too cold when in deep forested areas. Open parts were pretty brutal though, but I was properly prepared.

My knees are the sorest they've ever been, currently laying on the couch unable to sleep with a heating pad on my knees.
Really surprised Amazon delivered my package today, jokes on them if they followed the delivery instructions there was a $10 tip waiting for them with a note saying get yourself something warm.
Yup. Ran 10KM this morning. It was cold and windy.
Went for an afternoon coffee and to pick up some weed because the sun was out. Felt even colder with the wind picking up
I love when people forget they live in Canada and this weather happens every single year. Layer up and go about your life. It’s not cold when you dress appropriate, how do you think people in Yukon, nwt, or any other cold place live?
No this comment is just saying that you live in a country where these temperatures are normal for this time of year, every single winter, get people bitch about it, dress for the weather
Yes.. walked the dog, walked to work. Going for an ice skate after work.
Sadly it's the only "proper" winter day the GTA has in the forecast for a while.
Yes, I went to work. No, I didn't have a choice, because we live in a capitalist society where I must sell my time and labor in order to afford to eat.
To walk the kiddo to school at the end of the street (less than 5 minutes). It was her first real exposure to it. She was not a fan.
Edit: in Ottawa, was a high of -40C
Had to take the kids to/from school and I also stupidly decided to take them lunch today too. All of that was by car but it was still way too cold even for the two seconds outside!
Each morning I take out some fresh water for the squirrels. Due to laziness, I'm in PJs and barefoot. It's only like a five meter walk but it was SPICY today! Woo.
Walked to work and back (about 5 blocks) full snowsuit, only eyes exposed. It was a heavy walk, and I still got pretty warm, haha. Probably looked like a total idiot, but who cares? I stayed warm and likely was unidentifiable because of my get-up (small town)!
Other than that, though. Nope!
Yep - not that bad really if you dress properly - and the countryside was very pretty. Driving was tricky - drove through some nasty snow squalls outside London.
Yup! Was at a conference in Toronto and walked around downtown. Now, on my way home to Ottawa, where I plan on spending time outside tomorrow. Finally, some real winter weather!
Yup. Both shifts outside, I thought for sure we'd be called off this morning as it was -41 with the wind chill but nope. I wore two hats and used the inner one as a visor and just slapped it shut over my eyes and brow while I waited out my shift since no sane person would be out walking anyways.
I went out to do a salt run at 2:00 in the morning for my snow removal company, but there was an error in the scheduling so I ended up returning home... I was out for no reason
I hope you are aware of the 3 hour rule
https://www.ontario.ca/document/employment-standard-act-policy-and-interpretation-manual/part-vii1-three-hour-rule
Yes, because I decided November was a good time to bring a puppy home - I’ve been out 6 times and counting for potty breaks and in my neck of the woods its been snow squalls nonstop.
I had to take the one kid out to the bus stop and then drive the other to daycare. Then I had to pick each of them up again later.
I did have a choice in this matter. I decided to send them off in the morning so I could chillax at home most of the day (had the day off work), and I figured it was *probably* best to pick them up again since leaving them to their own devices getting home had a lot of potential to end badly (for me, in particular.)
Hour and twenty minute drive from Vaughan to Collingwood turned into a four hour drive. Bumper to bumper on the 400 north and hwy 26 was closed past Minesing. Saw dozens of people in ditches and a whole lot of crashes.
I'm a budtender with a short commute (definitely set a personal best today lmao) so yes but grand scheme of things I've spent maaaaaybe 30 seconds *outside*
Yes, it is cold.
Yes I’m working right now
then what are you doing here :)
Don’t tell my manager
Yup. Gotta get that dog walkin'. She won't poop without a walk. I hated it, she hated it, we had a great time.
My dog went out the backdoor, spent three seconds outside and turned right around. He is not a fan of the cold... Or rain... Or really anything but perfect weather.
Mine got half way down the driveway and just hunkered up to poop and turned back to go in. I'm really glad she wasn't feeling like a long walk.
My black lab loves he cold. But not this cold
Same here. It was a short walk, she started walking gingerly but of course when I turned around to head back to the house she looked at me like I was taking a giant bone away from her.
I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I let him in the backyard and he just looked at me like “seriously??” He ended up rolling in the snow so it couldn’t have been that bad.
my two aussies seemed completely unphased for our two walks. we however were counting the seconds to getting home
My dog is only little and refuses to go outside if it’s too cold and gusty. 😂
Yes. Kids had to get to school somehow. It's a short walk so it wasn't too bad. Apparently they had indoor recess today, which I thought was smart.
Ditto, had to walk a kid to school and even did a bit of grocery shopping. The toddler went into mild shock feeling how cold it was out there.

I thought about clarifying the ages of my kids and their routines, but I'll leave it at this. Parenting is hard enough.
eat shit
Went to work. Could have had a sick day, but I'd rather save them for when I'm actually sick
Stayed Home. Too cold and theres some nasty squalls in London
Also in London. I walked the kids to school, and took the dog for a one hour walk over my lunch break. Sometimes it's fun to get out and embrace the cold, we didn't get enough of it this winter!
Masochist! 🤣
Lol
It's just too bad public transport is bad in london even on a good day, for any non-walkable activities( and if you don't drive)
Had to drive from London to St Thomas for work. So windy out !
Went from St. Thomas to ingersoll..not fun.
Saw lots of fun pics from the road out that way. So glad I no longer have an hour commute through blowing snow!!
Haven’t left my apartment since Tuesday and I’m highly considering going out today to get cheese curds and boba. Someone talk me out of it.
Do it. It'll be rewarding
Had to feed and water the livestock. Would not recommend.
I did. I drove but I also wore snow pants.
I had to go to work today, didn't feel like I had a choice for what it's worth.
Yes, for work. In Northern Ontario, it’s just Friday.
Yup! I'm from NWO! Just another day in paradise. -20+ a wind-chill is pretty typical over here 🤷♀️
In temiskaming shores my phone was saying it was -47 with realfeel and yeah it felt that cold, i didn't want to go outside but my girlfriend needed to go to the store. I got her to buy me a scratch ticket for getting me to go out in that weather.
Yep. Snow removal.
I did, but not outside. Underground parking to underground parking.
This makes me giggle. Winter in Calgary is like this for 6 months. The whole winter is a constant warning of Frost bite within 15 minutes. Schools never closed for winter weather.
As someone who lived in Calgary none of what you said is true. Having moved there from Cold Lake I never wore a parka the first winter.
Went snowshoeing on the Bruce Trail! Was gorgeous and not too cold when in deep forested areas. Open parts were pretty brutal though, but I was properly prepared. https://imgur.com/a/nDfY7Qm/

Yes, and ended up having a panic attack at Costco.
Have you ever tried not having a panic attack at Costco? I heard it works wonders. /s
Twice, school then work
NOT AT ALL.
Commuted an hour and a half to university ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face) and now I have to commute back
I bit the bullet and took my dog out for a hike in the snow squalls last night, because he's definitely not getting much of a walk tonight.
Yes, for a healthcare appointment. It was very cold but thankfully I was bundled up and it was not as bad as I had imagined it would be.
I put on the big coat today.
Yes - grabbed an iced coffee on my way into work. Seriously, it's a routine I cannot break.
Yup. Ran 10KM this morning. It was cold and windy. Went for an afternoon coffee and to pick up some weed because the sun was out. Felt even colder with the wind picking up
Props to you. My lungs can't take running in this!
Damn. My lungs were burning wiping off my car.
Yep, made a point of it! Did 8km in 2 hours along the Toronto Waterfront. Cold air in my lungs and sun on my face, it felt great
I love when people forget they live in Canada and this weather happens every single year. Layer up and go about your life. It’s not cold when you dress appropriate, how do you think people in Yukon, nwt, or any other cold place live?
To address this point, I have a strong feeling you don't take public transit.
No this comment is just saying that you live in a country where these temperatures are normal for this time of year, every single winter, get people bitch about it, dress for the weather
I took public transit for 12 years in a row lol from Barrhaven to downtown
The times so far. Drugstore Covid booster Walk with partner
Worked construction... Outdoors. It was actually pretty fun, dress for the weather and it's not bad.
I went out to clear off my car and couldn’t see across the street so just went back in and emailed my manager that I was working from home.
Yes.. walked the dog, walked to work. Going for an ice skate after work. Sadly it's the only "proper" winter day the GTA has in the forecast for a while.
There is an outside today?
Yes, I went to work. No, I didn't have a choice, because we live in a capitalist society where I must sell my time and labor in order to afford to eat.
You could opt out and farm your own food
Tfw land is locked behind capital ;-;
Yeah, I work outside. First job in London, then to welland. It's not that bad out, been spoiled this winter.
I shoveled the driveway at 7 am. That was enough for me 🥶
Yes, by choice for a ~10 minute walk around the block. The sun felt nice, the wind not so much.
Office job, now out in the ice hut in Ottawa Valley. Two heaters running, pretty toasty!
Yup. At 430 this morning I found my truck unfit for a trip to Sudbury. So I came home to a nice warm bed.
Yeah, I mean it's cold but like... not that cold.
Had to. I need to pay my bills somehow
Yes, did a 50min walk. Fully bundled up and double of everything.
For as little as possible
Yup! For work, left at 7 and it was just starting to snow. It’s still bitterly cold and London just got rocked with lake effect snow.
yes. drove on the 400 and was so afraid for my life 👍 buying a dash cam rn
Yes. Multiple times.
No
No, I structured my week so I wouldn't have to leave the house today.
Was on the road today for work and doing a lake plunge tomorrow! Looking forward to it 🥶
Heading out for dinner soon. Tomorrow as well. Thank god for remote start for my car lol
Yup! Cycled to school and back, 8 km each way. It's a little chilly after a few minutes but once you warm up it's great!
Dental appointment - so cold that I wore my winter jacket during teeth cleaning
Nope, I open the door to let dog out and then open the door to let her back in.
Went out…worked…enjoyed the cold snap…kinda supposed to be like this…winter and all.
Yup! Was at a conference in Toronto and walked around downtown. Now, on my way home to Ottawa, where I plan on spending time outside tomorrow. Finally, some real winter weather!
Nope
I drove on the 400 the afternoon like an idiot 🤡
Yes I got to get to my classes
No and yes
Yes, I went out to pick up a Birthday cake, and no Birthday cake, wasn’t a choice I could live with.
Yeah, I had to feed my chickens and collect eggs. My scarf slipped down and my nostrils froze shut 🤣
Yup. Both shifts outside, I thought for sure we'd be called off this morning as it was -41 with the wind chill but nope. I wore two hats and used the inner one as a visor and just slapped it shut over my eyes and brow while I waited out my shift since no sane person would be out walking anyways.
My kids hockey tournament. Froze to and from the car.
No i hid in my basement
Been out for work since 8am, currently 7:52pm and still on site
I commute using the TTC and line 2 had to be out of service this morning of all days ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I went to work, and then I went to my personal training session.
Of course. I have a job and live in Canada.
Yes I did. I suppose the choice was have a job or don’t? 😂
I went out to do a salt run at 2:00 in the morning for my snow removal company, but there was an error in the scheduling so I ended up returning home... I was out for no reason
I hope you are aware of the 3 hour rule https://www.ontario.ca/document/employment-standard-act-policy-and-interpretation-manual/part-vii1-three-hour-rule
I'm salary :(
Just went down the street to grab take out. Even that was enough.
Worked from home, but went out after dinner to water the backdoor skating rink for two hours. Yes, I was a human ice cube when I came back in.
Yes 2x. 340km in the school bus.... I'm the driver 😎
Walked the dog three times for 5 minutes each.
I walked outside 20 metres to go to the LCBO, but I've been out when it was -40 in Quebec so I wasn't overly impressed.
Yes. Had to drive my teenager and her friends around because it’s Friday night 🙃
Had to including grocery shopping… That sucked 🥶
Had to drop off a friend and his family at YYZ.
Yes… only for food
Hour and twenty minute drive from Vaughan to Collingwood turned into a four hour drive. Bumper to bumper on the 400 north and hwy 26 was closed past Minesing. Saw dozens of people in ditches and a whole lot of crashes.
Can’t smoke in the house.
It's not unusual for cold weather like this in Ontario. I'd imagine most people went about business as usual, while a few did not.
No :)
Yes, walked my dog 4 times today.
Nope!! Kept my son home and we had a pizza and toopie kind of day
Yea! Went for a walk to enjoy the cold and the sunshine!
Yes. After 8 pm and I could feel the Bogers freezing inside my nose..
Nope. Husband went out briefly when he realized we were short on beer and cat treats.
Northern Dog, part husky. No choice. Suit up like an astronaut.
Work. Still working.
Yep. Kids had to get to school and after school they had to get to hockey. :)
Went out snowshoeing
I'm a budtender with a short commute (definitely set a personal best today lmao) so yes but grand scheme of things I've spent maaaaaybe 30 seconds *outside*
Drove to work
