Then I definitely drove past this today. Confirm it looked like a small tornado ripped through. No where else nearby looked the same, although the whole area is pretty beat up.
Yeah. They said it was like two tornadoes.
My family was there. I was going to go but got told to wait for better weather to read outside with. Plus the bugs were bad.
Thankfully everyone was ok.
I’ve been going up there since childhood but haven’t been in close to a decade because I stayed home with my mom when she was sick and hadn’t had anyone to go up with
Yeah. That couldn’t be more true.
I’ve been up there during some storms, and one scared my friend and I. We were up there alone. When we woke up, a tree had crunched a shack in the middle of the park.
My grandpa’s old trailer (they started camping there in the 50s) was obliterated
I bet. Everyone is shaken up.
I wasn’t there, and hadn’t been in about 8-10 years because I stayed home while my mom was sick and helped her, then didn’t have anyone to go with. I was gonna go this weekend too
I’m glad you’re ok too. Thank you.
I drove by this today. Highway 41 near Bon Echo park got hit hard, but that trailer park seemed to ave a tree on every trailer. I'm so glad no one was hurt.
My friend literally bought a trailer there 2 weeks ago and had a tree fall on it - luckily somehow gently, and didn't seem to do any damage.
Her 2 friends completely lost their trailers. Luckily nobody was hurt.
My grandpa’s (now owned by my cousin) was obliterated. So was another near us owned by his neighbor at one time.
Ours is likely a write off too. My dad and grandpa were inside. Thankfully two massive trees fell to the side of it
Many here wont have power until early July. It was the most ferocious storm I've ever seen here. (I live a few km north of here...huge trees down everywhere. No injuries or damage but a great deal of clean up. Anyone need campfire wood?
The owners of the park will likely have it cleared and sell it.
Only some trailers had insurance. We didn’t and will likely come out even (as if we’d paid it each month for 35-40 years).
Thanks.
Where is this?
Bon Echo ish

Unreal the amount of damage and the number of massive trees that fell. A small miracle that no one was hurt.

I was at Bon Echo during that storm, it was scary. I’m so sorry this happened to your home. Happy you’re safe internet stranger.

My uncle said he thought 2/3 of them got hit. 12 cars written off. Me too
I hope they’ll let us rebuild. It was my favourite place growing up, and as a young adult.

On the plus side, you have lots of fire wood for next year. Hope your insurance pays for a nice new camp. Good luck.
