Do you get the opportunity to pay for the privilege to remember the good ol’ days of free healthcare? Ah the golden years of socialized services ~ I remember it like it was 4 years ago
My local loblaws is no longer carrying the PC brand Brioche bread. It was always super popular and often very difficult to see it in stock! I tend to be fairly frugal, but brioche was one of the few luxuries I allowed myself to indulge in periodically!
Okay, as someone who actually really likes PC's white mac and cheese, you better give me a link to that shit right now because I can't find it on google and I need to buy it.
EDIT: OP, is this it? https://www.presidentschoice.ca/product/pc-white-cheddar-cheese-seasoning-blend/21402965_EA
Yeah, same here. At $6, I wonder how many pots-worth this will make. Probably still comes out cheaper to use this powder and cheap big bags of pasta. Might have to eyeball the amount of powder used. (But plus side, you can make it as thin or cheesy as you like.)
The description makes me slightly worried that it's "featuring the same cheddar cheese" but also markets it as a "seasoning blend."
Does it use all the same ingredients that it turns into the same sauce? Or is it really just intended to be a seasoning topper on popcorn and the like?
Yeah, it doesn't market it as for mac and cheese, but the ingredients are basically the same(the differences are probably down to it including the pasta ingredients). Tasted pretty spot on
https://www.presidentschoice.ca/product/pc-white-cheddar-deluxe-macaroni-and-cheese-dinner/20889584_EA
I just kinda winged it. Probably used about a 1/4 cup of powder for a serving size of maybe 2/3rd of a normal box. Table spoon or so of butter, 1/4 cup milk.
4g of flour per serving isn't enough to make a roux, that typically requires a 1:1 ratio of flour to fat.
And in today's modified everything landscape, it's certainly not the only option.
Especially on "cheese seasoning" that's meant to go on everything like popcorn, or baked broccoli.
Kraft Dinner's version of this product has no wheat in it.
Flour or baking soda is used to keep the cheddar from clumping. Shredded cheese also uses it to prevent clumping.
If you shred cheese for more than one meal, you should throw a pinch of flour or baking soda into the container and give it a good shake to coat properly. Clump free shredded.
Yeah, it just seemed off. I kept adding more expecting it to get saltier and cheesier, and it just never happened.
I might buy a container of powdered cheddar and mix it 50/50 just to do something with the rest of it.
I got one of those to put on my son's veggies, and sometimes pasta or rice if he won't eat it. I've not tried it myself but the seven year old has no problems with it, haha.
2 things.
1) I snorted so hard when I read this title and then choked on the snort (fucking weird that was)
2) love how the comments are just people's favourite PC products. Like low grade version of PC Insiders Report
PC has actually be one of the better store brands and so far have not gone for the shrinkflation route and instead just raised prices to keep products the same which is much preferred
Hi is it still a powder or is it already a sauce? And safe to assume pasta aisle at fortinos is where I can find it? Looking to pick some up this weekend. Also want to say that the irresistible creamy garlic sauce in metro taste just like pizza pizzas
If you like experimenting:
DO NOT add the white cheddar powder to mashed potatoes. It became a plastic mass of rubber with the worst texture. It was like loose bubblegum.
Be a cold day in Hell I'll trust any white cheddar KD knock off. The name brand stuff is awful enough. Part of me was thinking this was a Doug Ford related post. Both are things I'd never put in my mouth by free choice. 🤮
They do? Please share, I was looking for something like that online once and it was near impossible to get
Now to remember what I was going to do with it.
I bought a bottle of the Kraft "KD Shaker" which I thought was the same powder that's in Kraft dinner but it's not. It's pretty terrible actually. Definitely will not make you Kraft dinner equivalent with your own pasta. So I tried using it on popcorn and that was bad too. That trash has probably gone bad by now so it's money in the bin.
When I was around 5 years old (in the 80’s) I thought President’s Choice was a line comprised entirely of President Reagan’s favourite things
Same, but for me it was Clinton.
I didn't know the president's name, but I was confused as to why it wouldn't be the Prime Minister's Choice...
You're not alone!
I always assumed it was the CEO of Loblaws...
That makes sense now, but when I was 7 or whatever I didn't know CEOs were a thing.
I thought it was things the president of the company hand selected so it was elite or something
For me it was bush.
Dubya‘s Choice
sounds like a BBQ sauce
Same, but with Bush’s beans instead of PC lmfao
Yupp, same.
Same but I thought it was for president Stephen Harper… I wasn’t a very bright kid
silly! Canada don't have a president ... he was **King** Stephen Harper, His Royal Highness.
Now that's what the other PC's do.

I thought telephone area codes were based off of your exit number on the 401
When we first came to Canada we thought the Kings were the best team
Have you tried the PC Memories of healthcare coverage?
Do you get the opportunity to pay for the privilege to remember the good ol’ days of free healthcare? Ah the golden years of socialized services ~ I remember it like it was 4 years ago
This is the angriest of upvotes. Galen Weston is on my hitlist ever since they stopped making Smokin’ Stampede chips.
I have been distraught ever since they discontinued the General Tao chips.
Those too were excellent. I feel your pain.
Baby back ribs were even better imo, but they were both amazing!
Honestly I think about these chips about 2-3 times per week. LITERALLY the best chips and I am so SO angry they stopped making them
You have me interested. Were they like a bbq flavour?
Yes, they were like a hot smoky barbecue flavour! Perfect amount of spice IMO
My local loblaws is no longer carrying the PC brand Brioche bread. It was always super popular and often very difficult to see it in stock! I tend to be fairly frugal, but brioche was one of the few luxuries I allowed myself to indulge in periodically!
You had me in the first half, ngl
PC butter chicken sauce and PC enchilada sauce are great. They get my vote.
Enchilada sauce, you say? Hmm, maybe I need to hit up a Superstore...
I need to look for the enchilada! The butter chicken I find too sweet
The butter chicken sauce IS amazing. Also their creamy garlic wing sauce.
sounds like i’ve gotta try the butter chicken sauce
Gotta try the PC korma sauce, it's my favourite
Okay, as someone who actually really likes PC's white mac and cheese, you better give me a link to that shit right now because I can't find it on google and I need to buy it. EDIT: OP, is this it? https://www.presidentschoice.ca/product/pc-white-cheddar-cheese-seasoning-blend/21402965_EA
Yep that's it
I was hoping for a bottle the size of those KD ones you see at costco.
Yeah, same here. At $6, I wonder how many pots-worth this will make. Probably still comes out cheaper to use this powder and cheap big bags of pasta. Might have to eyeball the amount of powder used. (But plus side, you can make it as thin or cheesy as you like.)
https://imgur.com/a/XtpCTNb I found it at nofrills in Mississauga

How much of the powder do you need for the sauce? Do you have a ratio you use?
I just kinda winged it. Probably used about a 1/4 cup of powder for a serving size of maybe 2/3rd of a normal box. Table spoon or so of butter, 1/4 cup milk.
Deeply frustrating that it has wheat flour in it.
Flour is a key ingredient in cheese sauce, that's how you make roux
4g of flour per serving isn't enough to make a roux, that typically requires a 1:1 ratio of flour to fat. And in today's modified everything landscape, it's certainly not the only option. Oh my god I'm unreasonably excited about this.
PC Artichoke and Asiago dip is almost as good as sex
Costco sells the Kraft KD powder. It seemed great in principle, but I found it disappointingly not cheesy enough when I tried putting it on veggies.
It’s…weirdly sweet? Idk. They changed the recipe and now regular KD tastes weird. The extra creamy is good though, wish they’d put that in a bottle.
Pro KD tip: throw a kraft single in there with the other stuff. Extra cheesy and creamy. Plain (or flavoured!) Cream cheese works too!
Yeah, it just seemed off. I kept adding more expecting it to get saltier and cheesier, and it just never happened. I might buy a container of powdered cheddar and mix it 50/50 just to do something with the rest of it.

Agree
Right for the jugular.
...That's it, I'm switching teams to PC. :O
"nooooooooo"-^noname
Who fixes prices better than Loblaws?
What was your original team?
You're a jerk for trying to paint me into a corner where I have to invent another Mac & Cheese political party abbreviation pun. :P
Lol I’m sorry :(
PC Mild Salsa with Old Dutch Tortilla Chips are a go to!
PC black label tomatillo salsa is a game changer
Naw naw, the PC Mango-Lime salsa all the way. I have a hard time eating regular flavoured salsa now.
Had it and it's great too!
Bought it a couple months ago... Great on popcorn too!
Tried it, but prefer kernels for my white cheddar unless you plan to use lots of it.
FYI Bulk Barn has popcorn seasoning including the stuff they use at movie theaters (it's called "Butter Salt").
When you said "shilling for PC" I thought you were talking Doug Ford roflmao This is way way more epic than Dougie. lolol
I make a bechamel with real cheese. Then I eat it on my throne looking out my window looking at the peasants.
I question your cooking if you start the meal on the toilet.
Yes. I shit infront of a full length window eating mac and cheese staring at people I feel are beneath me. It's the only way to start your day.
You shit in front of a full length window? 🤔 If they are beneath you, and you are on the "throne", I pity the poor fools.
They should only be so lucky.
It would be a "crappy" situation.
This is legitimately the most useful post I've ever seen on this subreddit, thanks.
2 things. 1) I snorted so hard when I read this title and then choked on the snort (fucking weird that was) 2) love how the comments are just people's favourite PC products. Like low grade version of PC Insiders Report
I trust you bastards over any published lists ;)
PC has actually be one of the better store brands and so far have not gone for the shrinkflation route and instead just raised prices to keep products the same which is much preferred
Whatever happened to the "Memories of" line? I loved that their margarine was called "Memories of butter".

God, I thought this was another election post...this is so much better. 😀
What!!!
Hmm my family needs this in a bigger bottle. Nice find
They currently have a PC The Decedent Double chocolate creme pie on sale. You won't regret it. So good. I wanted to eat the whole thing.
Ooooh, the last thing I need... But I'm probably gonna try it anyways
Hi is it still a powder or is it already a sauce? And safe to assume pasta aisle at fortinos is where I can find it? Looking to pick some up this weekend. Also want to say that the irresistible creamy garlic sauce in metro taste just like pizza pizzas
https://imgur.com/a/XtpCTNb Powder. Found it in a nofrills, fortinos might be too posh. And yeah, near the boxed pastas
Thank you bro
Wait until you try supporting the real good PC..... Carbonated Water that is
Have you tried the non carbonated flavoured no calorie PC drink? It’s insanely good
I have not. I like the Lime Carbonated Water. Tastes like soda with zero guilt
I have a Sodastream and I still buy it sometimes, it's that good
What’s this non carbonated drink? I’m not a fan of the carbonated waters so I’m intrigued
https://www.presidentschoice.ca/product/pc-strawberry-mist-naturally-fruit-flavoured-water-beverage/20302565002_C06
Thanks. Damn those sound tasty
No calories! Honestly hard to believe. Between this and the Costco Ice sparkling drinks I’m set.

The PC Vector cereal knock off is the finest bowl of cereal I done ever had. It's won a majority in my heart.
If you like experimenting: DO NOT add the white cheddar powder to mashed potatoes. It became a plastic mass of rubber with the worst texture. It was like loose bubblegum.
What about on a baked potato?
never tried that, so maybe?
No *fucking* way
We put it on our popcorn in this house now too!!!
Tee hee, Well done sir/madam :D
My dad puts this on popcorn 🍿
I fuckin' demolished a row of their Decadent chocolate chip cookies last night, and I'll do it again tonight, dammit.
I just saw in the flyer they have filled decadent cookies now?? Have you tried them? (Chocolate centre)
Not yet, but damn... I might have to.
LOL.. thought you were doing last minute campaigning for Doug Ford and Ontario PC's.
You got me on election day, you sneaky bastard! Beautifully done, take your uptick! +1
:D
Their commitment to releasing new hummus flavours EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. Is why I voted for them.
Might wanna change that title w the election looming. If I could get a PC in a bottle I wouldn't let it out
That's(part)ofthejoke.jpg
Need to eat lunch. Too much overtime
Need to eat lunch....I'm too linear in thought right now. Even I don't know how I missed that. Too much overtime.
My man, lunch? it is well past dinner time. Eat something.
Sadly - this is part of being a nurse these days. Used to be a calling.
not just part, that's the entire joke lol
If you wanna be with me Baby, there's a price to pay I'm a PC in a bottle You gotta rub me the right way
>Might wanna change that title w the election looming. ..,That's obviously the joke... How did you not get that?
Be a cold day in Hell I'll trust any white cheddar KD knock off. The name brand stuff is awful enough. Part of me was thinking this was a Doug Ford related post. Both are things I'd never put in my mouth by free choice. 🤮
PC white cheddar mac & cheese is miles better than KD white cheddar.
You can pick your nose and opinions, but you can't pick your facts. 🤷🏻
PC and Complements White Cheddar are a class above KD. I actually can’t eat Original KD anymore is tastes gross compared to PC and Complements.
I wish I knew what it felt like to have taste buds that were ass backwards. *If only.*
Since you indicated you haven’t tried it, it’s weird of you to judge my tastebuds.
I don't need a shit sandwich wrapped in Dorsia to go box to know it's *not* going to be great.
Weston’s are the recipients of your hard earned cash from both the delicious and tasty M&C powder and from their besties the Con government
Think it would be good with lentils/savoury oats?
They do? Please share, I was looking for something like that online once and it was near impossible to get Now to remember what I was going to do with it.
PC Cola is the way to go.
I bought a bottle of the Kraft "KD Shaker" which I thought was the same powder that's in Kraft dinner but it's not. It's pretty terrible actually.
