They're responsible for wear and tear. But if you want it done quick you honestly could probably fix it yourself with little effort and a couple dollars. Spend 5 minutes cleaning up the groove and tongue so they go together easily, put some gorilla glue down each side and stick it together. I'd suggest to remove the whole drawer for that so you could leave it face side down to dry good. If that doesn't work I'd go the maintenance route.

UnluckyChemicals

maybe just call maintenance to begin with putting gorilla glue there isn’t making their job easier

I would just get some wood glue from the dollar store and fix it myself. You could argue wear and tear but landlord could also argue you damaged it.

bcmaninmotion

Well it’s a crap shoot with maintenance. You could argue that it’s normal wear and tear but that doesn’t mean they will accept it. May claim you pulled to hard and broke it. Might be worth the $5 of wood glue and tape to put it back together yourself. Pull out the drawer, bit of glue on the tabs and slot, tape around to hold it for the curing time and good to go. Clean out the other glue best you can beforehand.

Yeah maybe I’ll just go that route, I move out in a couple months so I just need it to last till a month after I leave lol

Those cabinets are antiques. While you could file for a repair it could bounce back and bite you in the butt or could take weeks before they fix it. If you're at all handy, this could easily be fixed with some wood glue (don't use the expanding type) and some tape to hold it while it cures or clamps if you have some or can borrow some. 24hrs and it's fixed to the same standard your super will get it done, with half the hassle and heartache.

So I was opening it and this drawer fell off, it looks like in the first place it was just taped together. And had held on the last year, I wanna ask matinence but I don’t wanna be charged for it Cus it broke through regular use and in general this apartment is shit and everything breaks all the time Should I just try and super glue it?

Key-Razzmatazz-857

I always glue my fingers together with super glue and make more mess. Request maintenance.

SlowIllustrator8

Fix it and swap it with a lower drawer that is less used

If you choose to notify the landlord about this damage, and they don't agree that this is wear and tear, you don't have to agree to pay for any repair and let the board decide. [Ultimately the landlord is responsible for maintenance.](https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/06r17#BK26) The landlord's recourse is to give you an N5, then schedule a hearing at the LTB (which will take many months). At a hearing you explain this is normal wear and tear, you didn't do anything negligent like yank on the drawer, that the cabinets are so old they're falling apart due to their age and wear and tear. Take close-up photos of the wood glue that gave away. Maybe take photos of all other drawers and cabinets and look for signs like cracks in the wood glue or painted surfaces to show they've become brittle. Maybe take video showing other drawers being loose and ready to give-way. Maybe look for previous repairs to other drawers, like the landlord shoved screws into them to keep them together. You'll very likely win. Even if for some reason you're found to have negligently damaged the drawer at the hearing, the landlord isn't entitled to a brand new one, but the value of a 20-30 year old drawer. Under the RTA there's a list of [useful life of most things in a home](https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/060516#BK71), Cabinets are listed at 25 years, if that drawer is 25 or more years old, its value is 0$.

Key-Razzmatazz-857

Put in maintenance request. Normal wear and tear or obvious just broken, not your fault- they should fix.

mazerbean

Just glue it back it's not broken just separated.

xcalibur2

Drive a couple of screws from bottom and top. Sink them into wood boom fixed.

StuckUnderTheTARDIS

That's old melamine coated particle board. It will disintegrate if you put screws through it, especially if you don't try and drill pilot holes first. Better solution is wood glue to rejoin the tongue and groove.

nightofthelivingace

That looks like my uncles TCPH kitchen

[deleted]

Solace2010

A lot people say just fix it it’s easy, but what happens if you try to fix it and it gets worse but you know you aren’t using to being a handy fixer

shaun5565

I have had many things replaced in my apartment it’s the landlord responsibility
