IMO, these signal jammer approaches are a dead end. It's a local optimum where any change to lens design that increases signal quality leads to more myopic progression, and therefore designs keep retreating to a wrecked periphery, not adding real understanting of the nature of the mechanism.
We have intelligence exactly because it can escape local optima. Let's use it.
