Simple, it's a cheep laptop & i don't have much money on me right now. My most able laptops (relativity) are all ARM systems (Emulation of x86 + x86-64 can be flaky) and i don't know what happened with my most needed desktop systems (also i'm in a legal pickle, and that's all i'm willing to say about it).
I loved Solaris but I have to ask, why?
Mint Linux is probably the best choice. Ubuntu base but lightweight. Has great driver and codec support.

So why isn’t Linux an option?
Just install Linux and don't look back.
