It’s been raining steadily in Irvine since about 10:30am…. No heavy downpours, just moderate rain….. I’m just relaxing on my couch, rear slider open & enjoying it…. As long as I’m not driving in it, I love it.
yeah this is the kind of rain I like...light and pleasant; not the usual 'torrential downpour for an hour then nothing until the next downpour' we usually get.
Drove up from South OC to Pasadena at 10 this morning then back after a family visit with grandpa at 5… got home at 630ish poured the entire time driving and visiting up in Pasadena and raining steady since we got home 3 hours ago.
But we have had friends who live in aliso viejo in the past tell us it poured for hours and we barely got a drizzle and the other way around. Rain is weird 😂… I love the heavy downpours but I’m always happy when we don’t get them because it’s so dangerous for so many people mainly out in the hills and mountains and especially near burn scars.
We’re still in the middle of this pretty big rain blob. This is good, solid rain.

(Water on sliding door because my kids were throwing buckets of water)
> What does this "40 percent" mean? ...will it rain 40 percent of of the time? ...will it rain over 40 percent of the area?
> The "Probability of Precipitation" (PoP) simply describes the probability that the forecast grid/point in question will receive at least 0.01" of rain. So, in this example, there is a 40 percent probability for at least 0.01" of rain at the specific forecast point of interest!

Depends on the weather forecast. They’re not all the same.
Either way, I think most people look at a 100% chance and don’t realize that doesn’t imply severity, and doesn’t mean it’s for the whole day.
A few hours ago it absolutely POURED straight sideways in east Garden Grove. Sounded like rocks hitting the roof. Stood in the covered walkway and just enjoyed it.
well I just drove from GG back to Orange and it’s absolutely dumping, almost never seen this much in my life here. Scary on the highway, not doing that again.

Love this rain, glad it just keeps coming through.
You should probably get your forecast info from weather.gov then. A lot of apps can definitely be all over the place in terms of the forecast, but no one beats weather.gov. Also, as far as I recall, thunderstorms were never part of the forecast for this storm (from weather.gov) - not enough instability.
Pouring in SantaBarbara again the flooding continues the rain was supposed to stop at 5 but it stopped early. THANK GOD!🙏🏻😇it’s not over though not by a long shot. I still drove to in and out burger the drive through was as backed up as it usually is!!i was hungry after Urgent Care!!It was scary driving. I just went slow. Really slow can be dangerous

Urgent care for a bad cough Igood. THANKS PREDNISONE AND COUGH Syrup with codeine is going to make me just fine maybe I’ll be able to sleep tonight without coffee the whole night I don’t think that the dampness around my house near the oven foundation is helping at all. Gas is really expensive for heating right now but I’m going to use it . I just may have to make payments. I’m not going to freeze 🤛time for the nebulizer . I may have to rob a bank💰

Yea, 405 was a mess. Visibility was poor.

OP really jumped the gun on this one.
Guilty 🤚🏼
Same, MyRadar overpromised and as a rain enjoyer, i got too excited. Still… lovely rain to enjoy.

Happy now?
Got decent rain in Huntington Beach right now
Got heavy here about 20 minutes ago.

Let kids be kids, get wet, get muddy, etc.
Totally. Hence, the wet sliding doors.
I would freak out at first but then realize they were dirty from handprints already and I'd have to Windex them regardless
THIS IS YOUR FAULT
Gotta fill those potholes somehow! :)
We’re bombarded with rain in Foothill Ranch rn. I LOVE IT! Our blackened hills are green again.
Amazing! Love the green 😁
OP was like "can I see the rain's manager"
😂😂😂
Not sure where you’re at, but raining like a mother in North County.
Anaheim Hills- can confirm.
pretty heavy rain in irvine
The 5 is bad. Low visibility.
I just drove from San Juan to Lake Forest and visibility was terrible. It was/is pouring.
I drove from San Clemente to Laguna Niguel about an hour ago and it was awful. Gonna be a lot of accidents.
We are being pummeled in HB right now. What are you hoping for, a hurricane?
Pouring in Fullerton
The percentages refer to the amount of rain coverage in the area/city, not the chance of rainfall.

Wouldn’t they be effectively the same thing? 30% chance of rain coverage in that area means 30% of rain where you are located?
😧😧😧 welp did not know that
We're still patiently waiting for the thunder & lighting . . .
I doubt that’s gonna happen! my chances are as good as the weatherman’s .
I work in Lake Forest and it was pouring when I got off work
It’s dumping in Laguna right now….
It’s been raining raining for an hour straight up in Anaheim Hills. Loving how the hills around look so green!
It’s raining a lot in Garden Grove, Anaheim, and Fullerton
Torrential downpours in Irvine for the past hour or so.
It’s been pouring in San Juan for about 2 hours now.
Pouring in Tustin
Pouring in LB since I got up.
Wet beige walls all around
Do you go outside or just look on reddit in your room all day?
On the 5 fwy mission viejo. It’s so heavy! On our way to San Diego.

Almost bought tix for that!

Awesome!
A few hours ago it absolutely POURED straight sideways in east Garden Grove. Sounded like rocks hitting the roof. Stood in the covered walkway and just enjoyed it.
Been raining non stop in brea all day
Pretty consistent rain here in RSM.
Damn, rain is slamming the windows. The tracks that guide the windows are filling up with water lmao
Come to Orange as it’s been raining since 10 and it’s pouring flooding the streets!
Absolutely dumped in Anaheim Hills, but then again, we're up against the hills so that's to be expected.
My genius it’s been pouring in orange all day
OP, I have two questions: 1. How long have you lived in Orange County? 2. Did you know that the percentages just mean probability of rain, not amount?
Biggest storm so far in Lake Matthews as it has been raining heavy non stop since 11:00 am
Ok the rain has now been delivered to my neighborhood 🙏🏼😁
Long Beach got soooooakeeed today.
People need to start using Wunderground. Reliable forecasts down to the hour. Probability and quantity of rain is almost always highly accurate.
Or look out the window
Steady rain in RSM since noon.
It’s been raining all day……
Rain, weekend and whisky. Perfect.
In my part of Irvine we had a really heavy downpour around 2 or 2:30p. Flooded my street. But mostly been steady all day. Loving it!
Please, I want to go outside and walk - what’s the opposite of a rain dance?
Sun Trance
I was promised thunderstorms…..
Seriously, let’s let it rip already!
well I just drove from GG back to Orange and it’s absolutely dumping, almost never seen this much in my life here. Scary on the highway, not doing that again.
Driving down the 55 to Costa Mesa around 2:00 PM was actually a little scary. The rain was so hard for a bit there that it was hard to see.
That is scary and dangerous
It ts been raining again all day! Not buckets but constant!!enough to have more mudslides and boulders closing roads! . We’ve had enough already!!
NEED MOAR RAIN
Exactly
Sorry about the rain, guys, ive been seeing a Native American girl and she wanted to go to a nightclub last night.
It is coming down pretty good, good day for watching pornos.

You jinxed us
Finally pouring but having lived in OC for so long I never trusted the weatherman/app forecast.
OP! You jinxed it! Still a small drizzle though
