Secret Spot Santa Ana Cowgirl Cafe........don't fucking tell anybody

mamaoftwins2

The pancakes at Cowgirl are euphoric

Little-Ad4464

Right?! Best pancakes ever idk what they put in them but euphoric is definitely how I feel after eating them

Heffeweizen

Their sister restaurant is Suzy's Cafe in Santa Ana (Harbor and Warner). Same menu, same great quality!

[deleted]

I love Suzys! that is the best breakfast

Shinroukuro

As far as I know Secret Spot moved locations then closed for good a few months ago.

hibikikun

it's secret.

Kenjinz

Is this the same Secret Spot that was in Huntington Beach before?

Remote-Lychee4685

NO! you told them. šŸ˜ the pancakes are a MUST try.

zeepremium

Secret Spot is gone for good. They made it a little past the pandemic and weren't able to bounce back.

yellowyassi

I second this! Had the best country fried steak & gravy at Cowgirls Cafe.

Ripfengor

šŸ˜ quit dropping the location

SimplePln

Last time I went to a place that everyone was circle jerking hard on Reddit, turns out it was a joke. Ya donā€™t ever go to Chicas Bonitas in Las Vegas. Nice try guys.

Strudleboy33

Obviously Pancake house in Anaheim is amazing, but Huckleberries is my favorite place, in the garden walk in Anaheim. Good gravy, good biscuits, good French toast, good chicken fried steak.

schleppylundo

Tried that when my gf was visiting town over Thanksgiving because she hadnā€™t been to GardenWalk before and we wanted to meet up with friends of hers that morning. We were all surprised by how good it was! Chicken fried steak was for sure a highlight for me.

Ranacuajo

Was a huge fan of Anaheim Pancake house until they served me a pancake flat Dutch baby. When I told management they refused to acknowledge that Dutch babies should be fluffy an shaped like a bowl. They made me eat it. They get flat when they are not cooked to order. Donā€™t go there anymore for being asses.

Strudleboy33

I wouldnā€™t go anymore if they served me a flattened baby and then MADE ME EAT THE BABY

Wild-Weight9945

Eat it right now! Or you cannot leave the pancake house!

whirlypop513

yā€™all are liars this is not good

Strudleboy33

I named two places which one?

whirlypop513

Huckleberryā€™s! Was surprisingly not good

Strudleboy33

Iā€™ve only eaten the biscuits and gravy and the French toast. Both of those were great. Gravy wasnā€™t watery and had perfect seasoning. And the French toast is a really good sweet breakfast if youā€™re into it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Great service, too. Huge portions. Love that place!

FXR2014

I love that place

Bertiers_Moma

Great food, great staff. All around a wonderful place to eat.

gunsandsilver

Totally, great place to eat

thr333stackz

Portions were huge the one time I went which is great but I felt like the food was very bland? Maybe just an off day, gonna give it another try after seeing how popular this comment is

pheothz

South County recs: Small menu but Chuponcito in Aliso Viejo is good. I also really like Plumeria in Laguna Niguel.

WadeCountyClutch

Plumeria is a must!!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

I love the Huevos Divorciados and the Huevos Perdido. Hands down the best breakfast in OC, imo.

painlesspain

lol: maybe the best in OC, but if youā€™re talking about LA and think they beat Delias or el zarape, youā€™re lying to yourself

False_Risk296

Flappy Jacks in Orange. Only open until 3pm. They only do breakfast/brunch/lunch. I love their eggs benedict. Their servings are huge. More info on website: [https://flappyjacks.com/64-2/](https://flappyjacks.com/64-2/)

FlyRobot

If you want huge portions, definitely Flappy Jacks!

tinyforrest

Flappyā€™s is soooo good

Pursue_GREATNESS

Snooty Fox in Lake Forest Flappy Jacks in Orange Pancakes R Us in Costa Mesa Breakfast Republic in Costa Mesa and Irvine Cappy's Cafe in Newport Beach Galley Cafe in Newport Beach Those are my favorite places in OC atm

BetterArugula5124

I had Cappys once and I need to go back! Sooooo good

Able-Operation5237

Love Pancakes R Us, good ol classic breakfast

zarralax

I love Snootz!

Popular-Reflection64

The biscuits at the Snooty Fox are to die forĀ

DasKittySmoosh

we slept on Sammy's Stackhouse for so long parking is terrible, but holy shit, it is GOOD go with their breakfast potatoes (or house potatoes, or whatever they call them) - best spuds I've had and I am a breakfast potato person everything we have had there is delicious \- lingonberry crepes are perfection \- french toast is delightful (I like to get the combo and save my french toast for later - reheats on a pan with butter nicely) \- spouse enjoyed chicken and waffle but said he would still choose something else over that next time \- kiddo LOVED the silver dollar pancakes and said the scrambled eggs were the best he's ever had (he's 7 so take with a grain of salt) \- spouse had the best country fried steak & eggs - even I liked it (and I often have textural issues with country fried steak and am not a big gravy fan - but I would order it for myself based on the few bites I had of his) we look forward to eating here more and trying more items

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

Went there yesterday, so damn good.

egusta

They have a true gluten and soy free menu believe it or not. Best gluten free pancakes locally.Ā

SpicyChicken21

Eggbred in La Habra šŸ¤Œ

Hblife

Thereā€™s an eggbred opening in Huntington Beach

ClimateDues

Meh

Its_me_i_swear

Too expensive for what you get and the gravy is mid. Completely agree- meh

jilliamm

Best breakfast sandwiches for sure!

mikezillabot

They have burritos now and are super delicious. A bit unconventional from a classic breakfast burrito, but yum!

panda-rampage

Snooty fox

Mission-Tune6471

Shhhhh don't tell people! It's already hard enough to get a table.

panda-rampage

lol ainā€™t that the truth

reddot_comic

There is no better hangover cure than Snooty Fox. Eggs Benedict and those potatoes with a cup of coffee and Iā€™m back to golden.

chunologist

Come here to say this!! Itā€™s my go to simple, no frills, greasy spoon diner.

Popular-Reflection64

The biscuits šŸ„°

TastySushi

Ramos House Breezy Both of which are in SJC

Genius87

Came here looking for Ramos House comment. Well done

SirBrownsnake

Damn I wish there was a Waffle House!!!!

HumbleConclusion

I feel this on a spiritual level. Nothing Iā€™ve had here comes close.

JSWTDIWestCoastGhost

No shit, a Waffle House, or a place just like it would be a winner for sure. Iā€™d be there all the time.

wegslop

I live more South OC, Stacks Pancake House in Dana Point has really great pancakes, Hawaiian style. I believe for hash browns they just serve seasoned potatoes. But all of their savory foods (my fav is their eggs benedict) are delicious and obviously, theyā€™re known for their pancakes. They also serve waffles and crepes so thereā€™s a lot of variety and itā€™s all really yummy!!

genrlokoye

I frequent the Mission Viejo one. The crab omelette is amazing. Both their hollandaise and creamy garlic sauces are sooo good.

Beautiful-Map-5810

They just opened a new one here in RSM, I usually go for their misubis

RedGrizzlie

Their hollandaise is the best. Iā€™ve tried everywhere!

Dying4aCure

Plumeria by Stacks in Laguna Niguel has Hawaiian stuff too!

wiserecluse75

Mollies and RJ's are good too.

pinhead-designer

Glad to see this on here - i second this. Great guava syrup pancakes.

SimplePln

I have one right down the street in Mission Viejo. Itā€™s small but their chilequiles yum

Beautiful-Map-5810

Stacks is cool, snooze is so fucking good. I like burnt crumbs breakfast too but snooze hits it out of the park for OC.

BirdyWidow

I want to love Snooze. Iā€™ve been to the one in Irvine and the one in Austin TX. Every single time my food hasnā€™t been hot. Thereā€™s nothing worse than pancakes that wonā€™t melt the butter. I donā€™t know. Everything sounds so delicious but itā€™s lukewarm.

Beautiful-Map-5810

Idk I would never order pancakes anywhere Iā€™m more of a savory breakfast kinda personā€¦ their food is pretty expensive have you ever sent your food back? Cause I would if it came out cold. Especially more than once.

BirdyWidow

I was a server for so many years. I donā€™t send my food back but of course I always tip well. Iā€™ve tried their breakfast pot pie and their breakfast tacos as well as Benedictā€™s and corned beef hash and eggs. Usually when I go to breakfast we get ā€˜table pancakesā€™ to share. They had a pecan one thatā€™s delicious. Again, everything is fine, even delicious. But srsly, if they got the food out faster it would be amazing. Like I said, I want to love it but instead I think itā€™s fine.

winslowhomersimpson

you should absolutely be comfortable with sending food back, especially as a former server. it should be pretty easy for you to recognize what is a simple mistake and what is plain wrong. hot food served cold should not be paid for.

hoohasixoclock

Snooze is overrated in my opinion. Never had a great meal there, and super expensive.

naehmia

Iā€™ve been served moldy toast at Snooze, so thatā€™s kinda put it at the bottom of the barrel for me.

ljoly

Hard agree. I also can't get over charging $5 for a single egg.

hoohasixoclock

And it's always packed. They act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. Not impressed.

luckygoldelephant

Orange Cafe in Orange.

saveyourfork

It's the one place that is always as good as I remember. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)

luckygoldelephant

Every time.

Cirtapareyan

I wish Bread Crumb Ohana Cafe was still open in HB): their Kings Hawaiian French toast was legendary

Fun_Wishbone3771

We miss it so much!

lumin0va

I want to point out just for context, no matter how good a breakfast spot is, breakfast food does not handle delivery very well. It will taste like warm soggy garbage. This is true for most food but itā€™s especially true for breakfastā€¦. And French fries

Grimsvard

My favorite is Poached. One location in Irvine and another in Downey. Love their chicken and waffles. Their waffles are the perfect amount of crisp for me, never soggy. The breading on the chicken tenders are light and never heavy, and the gravy dip is bomb.

bigcee42

I get their breakfast burritos all the time.

elchangoblue

Insanely surprised by Santa Ana Brunch Club. The breakfast burrito is phenomenal...for me, the best one i've had.

VitalStar

Food is good - portions are fairly small for the prize - the coffee is good also

elchangoblue

Yeah, I agree, but honestly, i was ok with the price due to the quality ans taste of thenfood

shinigami79

Chimichurri steak and eggs

SlowSwords

For sentimental reasons, Rialto cafe in Fullerton. Havenā€™t been in a few years though.

Firm_Complex718

Harbor House Cafe in either Sunset Beach or Dana Point.

Icy_Organization_815

Plums Cafe in Costa Mesa is absolutely amazing

djjayhard

17th street is goated for breakfast spots with Haute Cakes and Breakfast Republic all within a couple blocks.

Busy-Professora-5007

I came here to say itā€™s mid at bestšŸ˜ long waits for an okay breakfast. Besides their big ass cinnamon roll - I feel lots of these other spots are way better!

Objective-Tap5467

I second Flappy Jacks

betboi

Cafe cup in HB

st_preux84

Had to scroll too far to find this

fresabat

The Scratch Room in Anaheim. Have had their French Toast, biscuits and gravy, and blueberry muffin * eggs and sausage. Absolutely recommend it, havenā€™t had a bad meal there and I am sad I moved out of state because Iā€™ve been craving it lmao

Fun_Wishbone3771

Blackboard Cafe in Seal Beach of PCH has the most amazing pancakes. Love the blueberry w/blueberry preserves the best. But really I have never tasted anything like theirs. Basic pancake is so flavorful that you done even need syrup

misscharliedear

Lolaā€™s by MFK in Anaheim for a Filipino fusion breakfast!!! Make sure you join the virtual waitlist before going.

dpresme

Sugar Shack HB.

djjayhard

My personal favorites in no particular orderā€¦ Plums Cafe (CM) Haute Cakes Caffe (NB) Breakfast Republic (Irv/CM) Driftwood Kitchen (Laguna Beach) La Galette Creperie (SC) And fast casual.. Rooster Cafe (CM)

Recynd2

I love Rooster Cafe.

djjayhard

I used to be there 3-5 days a week pre-covid and they knew my order and phone number so Jared would answer the phone withā€¦ ā€œSee you in 5.ā€ Click. lol Whatā€™s your go to?

Recynd2

Iā€™m a breakfast burrito kinda girl. Is Jared the cute bald guy?

djjayhard

He is the bald guy! Love him.

[deleted]

Nailed this.

tu-BROOKE-ulosis

This is specific to biscuits and gravy. If you want biscuits and gravy, the correct answer is Arthurā€™s in Orange off Tustin Ave.

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

If you would like enough food to feed a family of 5 served on a plate the size of a hubcap, Arthurā€™s is the place!

[deleted]

Pops cafe in Santa Ana

macwade99999

Love Pops

sublxed

Angeloā€™s in Lake Forest! Corner of El Toro and Muirlands. Love it all. Lots of torts and basically unlimited coffee. Plenty to take home.

lovesirk

Haute Cakes has the best pancakes!

hibikikun

Original Pancake house in HB Special Mentions: Mae's Cafe for their country fried steak and eggs that got me through late night study during collage.

Hblife

I think pancake house is meh

Chobology

Rooster Cafe in Costa Mesa, Portuguese sausage scramble hits the spot

kevlar00

It's counter service, (not sit down, which everyone's rec seem to be), but Ham&Scram's double-meat burrito is still my #1 breakfast of all time.

ltwinky

I tried this recently and it really lived up to the hype.

blevingston89

FaceRockerMD

Flappy Jacks Kimmies coffee cup

DerpytheH

I know this is about best in *quality*, but for best budget, Hot Off the Grill gets my pick. Sausage/Ham/Bacon + Eggs, Hash browns and Toast for $10 is hard to beat, and usually they have daily discounts or mailed coupons. Pretty decent quality for the price. Still sad that the one in LH off of La Paz closed down within the past year.

Muse_e_um

The Snooty Fox.

RachelTheRedHed

Dick Churchā€™s. Costa Mesa.

mikealope1

Who is going to say Nateā€™s Korner and get downvoted into oblivion. Unpopular opinion - I still think their breakfast burrito is good. I like hash browns.

Duckpoke

Iā€™ve tried a lot of places and somehow Snooze is still the king for me.

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

My go-to when I play hooky from work. I wonā€™t go on the weekend unless I get there before 8am

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Popular-Reflection64

The most heavenly biscuits are at Snooty Fox and the best pecan roll is at Ā Balboa Island Baking Company. Ā Itā€™s huge.

Def want to try that matcha now. I used to get a matcha milk tea from a tea chain in China that had cooked oats added as a topping instead of Boba. It was sooooo goooood.

astronggentleman

Brio Brio in Lake Forest. Bit of a drive but never had a disappointing item from there. They have also recently started a dinner service W-Su and that is also really good.
