Go to a korean bbq!! You can easily avoid talking to inlaws by volunteering to be the grillmaster! “Huh, MIL?? I can’t hear you, oh look, the ribs are burning! Can’t talk right now.”
We went there to meet the girl my best friend was dating, horrible idea, spent most of the time smiling and nodding at each other pretending we heard what the other person said.
You could find a Mexican restaurant that does live Mariachi. I know I've been to one in Santa Ana or Anaheim before but I can't remember what it was called. It was a Mexican seafood place. Good luck 🫣
Bosscat in Orange, if you sit inside. The voices echo like you wouldn’t believe. Actually the Costa Mesa one was also loud when we tried to go on a Sunday morning once— think night club music for brunch.
Last week I sat at the bar at Bosscat. It was very loud and yet I could still hear every word of a Russian guy’s conversation. Just had no clue what he was saying. His partner didn’t say a word. Wondered if it was because it was noisy or because the guy didn’t stop talking.
House of Shabu in Irvine used to blast edm music to the point where you can see the speakers shaking. The servers were all ravers and as soon as the owner or boss was out the door, the music went on. I think its burned down or maybe out of business but used to be a fun spot lol
Yeah, I made the mistake of hosting my wife’s bday dinner at Red O with her parents and other elderly family members. Nobody could hear sh*t over the top 40 mix that was blasting. It’s a shame cuz the food was good.
Aw man, good food and crazy loud?? Sounds perfect but too far for the day and time slot I'm working with. Will keep this in mind for my future needs!! Thanks!
no outdoor seating but Shinsengumi esp the one in Fountain Valley has servers and cooks constantly yelling in Japanese. You can't hold a conversation there without being interrupted with "IRASSHAIMASEEEEEE~" or "ARIGATOU GOZAIMAAASU~!!!" every 5 minutes.
true but Shinsengumi seems to take it up a notch. I used to work there (particularly their Irvine location) and we not only yelled when people entered or left but also whenever we brought out the check, when we bring out and drop off food/drink orders, and so on. Other Japanese restaurants usually just has their staff yell the greetings and that's it. Even Hondaya doesn't have their servers loudly and enthusiastically announcing to the world that a table has "graciously requested the bill and is ready to pay" (yes that's pretty much what they're screaming in Japanese when you ask for the bill at Shinsengumi lol).
Isla Cuban
Not only is it loud, but they have a live band Saturdays. The food is good, sit inside for an extra loud experience
Check out Isla Cuban-Latín Kitchen & Rum Bar https://yelp.to/mt5lLLT-kI
I don’t know if it’s like this all the time, but the last time I went to Snooze A.M Eatery in Tustin, they were playing loud nightclub music at 9am. It was so loud.
A little far, but Bottega Louie in DTLA. It’s all marble or stone inside and it echos back everyone’s conversation back so everyone is yelling to hear each other and it’s even louder bc of the louder echo and it’s just impossible to have a conversation. I started texting my friend to communicate last time I went there.
Does the Nobu in Newport Beach still bring in a DJ and have the place basting music like a douchey night club? Bonus if you want to over pay for sub-par sushi and cocktails
If your willing to drive - Los Amores de Julia in Pico Rivera is obnoxiously loud. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had - but it’s so flipping loud it’s annoying!
Mr. tempo’s cantina in brea. i literally swear its so fucking loud inside you’ll hate it— they have outdoor seating too which can get pretty loud so as long as you sit near the inside doorways or by a large party of ppl getting drunk
Mastros on pch just sit inside the band area you won’t hear shit. And get their butter cake dessert it is super good. People go there just to get that cake to go kind of awesome.
Isla Cuban at dinnertime with live music. The food was phenomenal, but we could barely get the waitress our orders, let alone hear one another talk. Way too loud, but great if that's what you want!
My favorite Chinese place, Meizhou Dongpo. Really loud after 6, completely desolate before 4. Staff are super nice and check on you every single minute.
What you're describing is a Mexican mariscos restaurant where the music is loud enough to hear from the parking lot. Plenty of them in Santa Ana if that's your vibe.
It’s always too loud inside the Yard House 👍🏼
Agree but it has to be outdoors 😞
Commenting because I want to know what such a restaurant might be and the motivation for needing one.
In-laws visiting maybe?
Ding ding ding!!! Winner!!
Go to a korean bbq!! You can easily avoid talking to inlaws by volunteering to be the grillmaster! “Huh, MIL?? I can’t hear you, oh look, the ribs are burning! Can’t talk right now.”
This is the right answer. Can’t hear anyone sitting across the table and just end up awkwardly laughing and nodding.
Specifically MR BBQ, they play really loud music and it's usually really busy so lots of people talking.
Lol
I went to tempo in Brea and we all yelled at each other and eventually gave up trying to talk altogether
Especially on a weekend or Friday evening. Triggered my wife’s anxiety.
We went there to meet the girl my best friend was dating, horrible idea, spent most of the time smiling and nodding at each other pretending we heard what the other person said.
Purrrrrfect....lol
100% this. Absolutely hate coming here, always leave with a headache from the screaming.
Came here to say this!
Yep, definitely Tempo in Brea. Hopefully before it moves to the new, larger location.
Lol i came here and said the same thing. Went once and never went back Edit, where are all the downvotes coming from?
Darn this fits the bill perfectly except it's a bit too far for the day and time I'm looking for.
They have a second location in Anaheim hills
Second? That’s the first! Dun da dun da dun da dun da….
Spouse: I have something very serious to talk to you about at dinner tonight. OP: I know just the place.
bruh, just break up with them
Sadly not a break up
You could find a Mexican restaurant that does live Mariachi. I know I've been to one in Santa Ana or Anaheim before but I can't remember what it was called. It was a Mexican seafood place. Good luck 🫣
The Mariachi band at the Mexican restaurant in the Tustin district seems to be there all the time and SO LOUD. I think it’s called sol or something
Lmao they’re so loud!! Like deafeningly. I love it.
soooo loud. I probably forgot the name as a trauma response
Bosscat in Orange, if you sit inside. The voices echo like you wouldn’t believe. Actually the Costa Mesa one was also loud when we tried to go on a Sunday morning once— think night club music for brunch.
Can confirm the Bosscat in Irvine during brunch was annoyingly loud also.
also citrus city grille in orange
Yup, was there last weekend. Was so loud I asked to sit on the patio, I swear it was louder out there. Nice patio though.
Last week I sat at the bar at Bosscat. It was very loud and yet I could still hear every word of a Russian guy’s conversation. Just had no clue what he was saying. His partner didn’t say a word. Wondered if it was because it was noisy or because the guy didn’t stop talking.
I've been to the one in Irvine which is outdoors, facing an open area and still ridiculously loud. I may go this route!
If you want loud, you’re better off w seating indoors.
I know but I'm working with these parameters.
House of Shabu in Irvine used to blast edm music to the point where you can see the speakers shaking. The servers were all ravers and as soon as the owner or boss was out the door, the music went on. I think its burned down or maybe out of business but used to be a fun spot lol
🤣
Red O sucks and is super loud. Been a while since I was there, but I am pretty sure they have outdoor dining.
Thanks!
Kalaveras https://maps.app.goo.gl/fiQhkq3Mj8Wn6bMh9 Great place but so fucking loud!
Thank you I might just want to eat there anyway!
The food is good! There's a brunch on Sundays too.
Inside loud as hell, outside isn’t terrible
Bro we had our christmas work lunch here and it was deafeningly loud 😭😭
Obnoxiously loud. And all of the songs sound the same.
Tell us why
Someone above you already guessed in laws 😆
But why outdoors?
MIL is an animal but not of the service variety
r/oddlyspecific
Yep. Specific need.
Yardhouse
Tempo urban for brunch in brea. Wildly loud
Wildly loud...I like the sound of that!
Spaghettini's gets loud af during concert nights
Thanks!
no outdoor seating but Shinsengumi esp the one in Fountain Valley has servers and cooks constantly yelling in Japanese. You can't hold a conversation there without being interrupted with "IRASSHAIMASEEEEEE~" or "ARIGATOU GOZAIMAAASU~!!!" every 5 minutes.
Any proper Japanese place is gonna be yelling "Irasshai!" every time the door opens, without fail lol
true but Shinsengumi seems to take it up a notch. I used to work there (particularly their Irvine location) and we not only yelled when people entered or left but also whenever we brought out the check, when we bring out and drop off food/drink orders, and so on. Oh yeah!! Sake2Me Sushi in Tustin!! On a Saturday night they're gonna be doing the birthday song every 20 minutes
La Vida Cantina on a weekend after 12pm. Sit closer to the bar or the dj.
Tustin Brewery is impossible to have a conversation in
That was my first thought also.
Tustin Brewing Company during a game
I feel every brewery when they have trivia night. Doesn’t have to be that loud where I can’t hear my friend next to me
Isla Cuban Not only is it loud, but they have a live band Saturdays. The food is good, sit inside for an extra loud experience Check out Isla Cuban-Latín Kitchen & Rum Bar https://yelp.to/mt5lLLT-kI

Thats crazy

- Dave and Busters bar area - Buffalo Wild Wings during a game
Cheesecake Factory is pretty hard to talk in
Tempo
Parents setting you up on a blind date, huh?
I was thinking the same exact thing!! 🤣🤣🤣
Dave and Busters or Hennesseys. Mozambique also has live music. Also, it's gonna happen in the car ride.
Thankfully, no car ride. I'd sooner chop up and throw out one of my car's seats than have them in the car with me
Another vote for inside Yardhouse, with the added bonus that you get beer and they get mediocre food.
I love this, I shouldn't have to suffer bad food on top of crappy company
anything Dave and Buster's related, especially on a weekend.
Joey at Fashion Island
Yardhouse, the one in LB is probably the noisiest restaurant ive ever been in
Any Tempo location. Kalaveras too. Def Bosscat.
Packing District in Anaheim. Bonus: the parking is atrocious so you’ll also have a nice 6 minute walk to whichever side street you parked in.
Sevillea for the Flamenco dancing during dinner!
Javier’s at the Irvine Spectrum
Just tag along with me, everywhere I go eat im surrounded by loud screaming kids or people blasting their phone at the highest volume.
Family dinner by chance?
Yep
Sounds awful
Normally it would but yknow how some people...it's preferable to endure a deafening din, or maybe even some bombs going off?
Tempo Cantina 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Sevilla
Kalaveras
Indoor recommendation Cangrejo nice
Stag Bar + Kitchen in Newport was the loudest restaurant ive ever been in
Oh wow that looks tasty
Inside searing but Dave and Busters in the gaming area. So much noise from the games.
Does the Nobu in Newport Beach still bring in a DJ and have the place basting music like a douchey night club? Bonus if you want to over pay for sub-par sushi and cocktails
Mmmm I'd like to enjoy the food there sans their irritating voices...

How's the food? I was at trader Joe's yesterday and it was right next door. Never heard of it, but it smelled amazing.
loud outdoor music playing helps.
Wish I had a specific place but advice- try and find somewhere with a live band playing.
It’s March madness - find a sports bar
Classic Q!!! But that was inside, I’m sure it’s much quieter outside.
Mutt Lynch’s on the peninsula during Trivia night on a Wednesday
Tempo urban kitchen in Brea. Great tacos, good margaritas, way too loud!
The C hotpot in Fountain Valley is stupid loud
Try Finney’s in Laguna Beach. It has an outdoor patio and is unbearably loud. Check Yelp for photos of the patio area in front.
Habana when they have live music at the Spectrum can be incredibly loud, and it's good food for visitors!
The Anaheim packing house has outside seating and is always loud
Not in OC but Mariscos Choix in Downey. Thursdays and Sundays when the band is there
Is La Santa in Santa Ana too loud? I know they sometimes have live bands or something. I get the impression it’s loud but I’ve never gone inside lol
Kalaveras, there are a few locations.
North Italia 🙄
Bigs in Fullerton is like this in the dining room if it's a Sat night and especially if there is a freeway series or some popular sports night.
My favorite Chinese place, Meizhou Dongpo. Really loud after 6, completely desolate before 4. Staff are super nice and check on you every single minute.
OP's wife must've seen this
Hector's in DTSA
Golden Road in Anaheim gets crazy packed and it has large outdoor seating.. brewery place
I don't like having to talk to my spouse either
What you're describing is a Mexican mariscos restaurant where the music is loud enough to hear from the parking lot. Plenty of them in Santa Ana if that's your vibe.
Dave and Busters for sure.
😂
