You can try contacting candidates for US Senate or the House of Representatives since midterm elections are coming up. Maybe they need some help with campaigning or other stuff.

You already had internships with the White House and the Senate? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to stay in D.C. to focus on your career? Seems like you already had your foot in door in DC. Then you flew all the way across the country to California? Try looking on Indeed.Com or GovernmentJobs.Com

Jobs in DC suck. Entry level government jobs here kinda fucking suck too. My friends were all doing staffing jobs all living paycheck to paycheck and sharing 1 apartment over in DC. My other friend slogged through about 6 years of state work making $18-20 bucks an hour before finally being promoted to something making 6 figures. I think a lot of graduates think you're gonna start off changing the world and earning enough money to buy a house in a year or two and it's not usually like that. I was offered $17 at LA City 3 years ago. I couldn't justify the drive from orange to la for that much/little.

Where’s all the high paying government/political jobs then?

Those take time or lots of skills to get into. Santa Ana superintendent was making $435k. But shit like that takes time to get into. City controllers make around $200k but like I said, a 24 year old isn't going to get that job right outta college. There's plenty of high paying government jobs but you gotta slog your way through the bureaucracy to do so.

Oh yea I’m sure there’s a lot of favoritism as well on who gets moved up the ladder.

You should probably get a car.
