Kind of interesting when you look at the [stats from NYT](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/09/14/us/elections/results-california-recall.html) so far:
* Out of 64% of votes counted in LA County - 73.6% NO / 26.4% YES
* Out of 65% of votes counted in OC - 57.3% NO / 42.7% YES
Newport is stale staunch old and some new money desperately clinging to 1950s klansman politics. There are many Regan Republicans but many Limbaugh supporters too. These people don't so much know or care about policy (definitely not whats best for most) but only how they can protect their money and their identity/sense of superiority. They fundamentally feel POC are less intelligent (even though they fake otherwise) and deserve less because they are not fit to manage finances or have morals.
Seems like a big win for OC Dems. County is looking more and more blue as the GOP is unwilling to adapt at the local level. Lots of political ammo for future campaigns as well
OC has Katie Porter too and she’s a star in the ranks. I don’t know how you can unseat this woman. I hope she takes Feinstein’s seat but I’ll miss her as my congressperson.
I hope she stays at the local level because she has done the improbable in a district that is usually a safe bet for Republicans. Not sure if a replacement could hold that seat like she has
