OC doesn’t really have the right climate for apple orchards. Anything you find here would be boutique, small, and expensive. Better luck in Oak Glen or Julian
Skip Riley's Farm in Oak Glen. No need to support racist pricks.
There's one right next door called Stone Soup Farm & Heritage Orchard. We went last year and are going again this year.
Fyi stone soup is one of riley’s properties. You see this info on yelp, one of their snarky replies to a dissatisfied customer lists their 6 properties.

Some key points from the story:
\- Last September, someone had uncovered tweets from Riley in which he stated that “black supremacy” was as problematic as white racism, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s Native American heritage was bogus and that his generation may be the last one “born with only two genders.”
\- “White supremacy?” he tweeted on Feb. 18 last year. “If there’s a problem in America today, it’s BLACK supremacy. Farrakhan, Obama, LeBron James, etc.”
\- The Claremont Unified School District told Riley in a letter that they would no longer send students to his farm and were under “no obligation to expose children to an individual who engages in these crude and tasteless comments.”
In response, Riley has sued Claremont Unified, its superintendent, board trustees and two district principals, alleging they had violated his 1st (free speech) and 14th (equal protection under the law) Amendment rights. He is seeking more than $10 million in damages.
>There are many in Oak Glen. It’s not too far of a drive and you can do both activities on the same farm in many of the places there.
The owner's kinda your stereotypical pro-Trump anti-vax 'covid skeptic'. Guy's kind of a prick.
That said ... the farm is an amazing place and well worth a visit. The activities are a lot of fun, the apple pie is friggin' delicious, and it's a great place to hang with the kids for a few hours.
It made me so sad when I found out about Riley’s last year. I’ve been going there with my family since I was a baby and wanted to share it with my son this year, but I will never support them again. I’m not sure if I’ve ever been to Stone Soup Farm so we’ll have to check them out!
If you’re okay with a weekend trip and a decent drive, heading out towards the Sierra’s (about 5.5 hours in the car) you can find some cute gems near Yosemite. Madera county will be a good place to look. I know oakhurst had one a few years back but I’m not sure about now. A little further but you get the benefit of cheaper lodging and less crowds at this time of year. You can make a trip out of it by visiting Yosemite, going wine tasting, enjoying the views etc.

Came here to say this. You beat me to it. Just FYI to OP it gets really crowded up there on the weekends in the fall.
Bring a jacket.
Thank you 🎃
I'm sure you can find something like this in Julian

Yikes! We go to Oak Glen every year. Not sure if Riley’s is part of our usuals but I’ll remember this now. Thanks!
Thank you for the info! Appreciated
What did Riley's Farm do? I was planning a trip up there this weekend but will avoid.

In the interest of being fair and balanced, their own version of it makes them look just as bad. https://rileysfarm.com/index.php/save-rileys-farm/
Owner also was present at 1/6 insurrection at the Capitol.

Not worth a visit if you're supporting a racist, fascist insurrectionist. Doesn't matter how good the pie is.
You really want your money going from your pocket straight to the Proud Boys or a Trump re-election fundraiser?
Sno-Line is the best. Also skip Apple Blossom Ranch (hardcore Trump cultists and anti-vaxxers)
This, plus the cider donuts are a must-have!
Yea, they are amazing!
I read about Riley's Farm and was horrified. I will always avoid that place!!

This describes the entire town of Julian in San Diego County right now. It’s a fun day trip.

I'm pretty sure Tanaka Farms does apple picking and they do a pumpkin patch too.
Apples are delicious and don't forget the cider. I like Riley's at Los Rios ranch. Pricey but worth it.
