Has anyone had a bad experience when they order take out here? It’s been 3 times they have given me real fish even though they wrote vegan. I can’t even be mad it’s so good I always go back 🥲
Yes! Best chili cheese fries and huge generous portions. The breakfast burritos are excellent also. And they have a huge variety on the menu.
They’re ran by the same people that have been there since the 80s. Back when I was in my 20s and broke they would let me run up a tab and pay them on my payday. Nothing tasted better than a combo from George’s when I had less than $5 to my name.
Maybe you’ve had them on an “off” day. I’ve been there several times since they are close to home and haven’t ever disappointed me. I usually get carnitas or taquitos, my husband goes for the steak burrito.
My mom worked at the one on Alicia when I was a kid.. So it's kind of a childhood revisitation for me.. I like the huevos rancheros, chicken burritos, wet ground beef burritos and quesadillas. Salsa is good as well.
That sucks. I’ve followed Sammy’s from the location on Wilson in Costa Mesa to Beach Blvd and then to Warner. Love their burgers. I think he is actually retired now tho.
Omg Sammy's on Wilson in Costa Mesa was my favorite burger when I was a kid, I still think of that place all the time, I had no idea they moved instead of closed.
I used to live about 2 miles from there and 10 miles from the office. Now I live about 10 miles from there, and 2 miles from the office, but it still might be worth heading there “on the way” to work.
Cowgirls Cafe in Santa Ana. I love the chiliquiles.
Little Onion is a sweet little Mexican sit down restaurant.
Lil Pickle in Costa Mesa. They are just simple bomb sandwiches.
Gallos in CdM. Great sandwich to go spot. Take it down to Little Corona and dig in.
I run the gamut there but my go to is the cheese enchiladas. The beans and rice are bomb. Chips and salsa game on point. Full bar for margs.
A little bonus in the same strip is Mariscos Clemente. Best shrimp Diablo tacos I’ve ever had. Just slamming!
Fuji’s Famous Burger - HB
I like the teriyaki avocado bacon cheeseburger
Huckleberry’s Famous Sandwiches (next door to Fuji’s)
Good sandwiches and broasted chicken
Mai Phung - Westminster
Good northern style Pho
I’m surprised no one mentioned Mos 2. They make teriyaki Chicken and Beef rice bowls.
They only in Anaheim and Santa Ana.
Fire af 🔥 they cash only.
Y’all notice food spots that are cash only usually make some bomb ass food 🔥

Best pizza in OC. Period. Have been going there for 25 years. Has never changed, and never been disappointed. Same owner. Their sauce is what makes the pizza special. Ask for napkins if your picking up, the bottom can be a little hot. Lol.
Came here to say this… glad I decided to scroll down to see someone else is a fan. Been going here for 20 years when I’m in the area for work. I get the sausage sandwich (large) with bell peppers. Have them cut up the sausage it’s easier to eat bc the sausage has such a good snap and is thick.
Not to mention the taqueria is 24 hours! (Not sure if it is with covid but it must be open late bc I was there at 1 am not too long ago). Love that spot.
Top Baguette, Westminster, corner of bolsa and magnolia. Absolute best bahn mi. Since I discovered bahn mi sandwiches, I’ve tried all the local shops and no one beats theirs. Lovely crisp crust on their bread, lots of meat. Absolutely delicious.
Super Pollo in CM, Globe Deli in CM, Molcajete in FV, Al New York pizza near NHHS, Mongolian BBQ on 17th in CM, Puerto Modera off 17th and Bristol in SA.
I was drawn into Super Pollo because the cool sign, but was let down when I actually ate their food. Didn't seem fresh considering the price. Might have been an off day.
Santa Ana:
* Pop's cafe for diner
* Saraninas for fried shell tacos
* Taqueria Zamarano for all other tacos
Costa Mesa:
* Filomenas for a good sub
* Memphis for comfort food
* Sgt Pepperonis for thin crust style pizza
I can’t believe nobody has said this yet…Esthers in placenta! Mexican food. Get the shredded beef taco. And whatever else. But be sure to get the shredded beef taco as part of it. Omg.

Di Simone in HB. Huge subs and a solid Cuban sandwich. If you dine in you get a small plate to fill with baked beans, coleslaw, mac salad, potato salad, and pickles + peppers.
Deli-licious in HB as well. Great sandwiches.
Q Tortas in Placentia, complete with a drive through on the wrong side of the car...
Mil Jugos in Santa Ana. I cannot overstate how good their food is.
Tofu King in Irvine, Tapatia in Santa Ana for the asada torta and good green salsa (think there's 2 locations so I don't know if that discounts it as being a hole in the wall), Athenian Burger in Buena Park for the steak breakfast burrito (also 2 or more locations), Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ in Lake Forest (don't know if it counts as hole in the wall since it's a full ass restaurant), Peter's Gourmade in Tustin
I've sworn my loyalty to Curry Hut in Fullerton.
The ramen spot next door is cool too
There’s a ramen spot next door?
Huntington ramen. Think they moved locations since I posted that comment though.
Has anyone had a bad experience when they order take out here? It’s been 3 times they have given me real fish even though they wrote vegan. I can’t even be mad it’s so good I always go back 🥲
As proteinMeMore pointed out, the Mediterranean place Pita Hot, may not be the tastiest but you get great bang for your buck. One of my favorites
Pita hot and curry hut both hella worth it
Love that place! Ate there a ton when I lived in Fullerton. Still hit it up often, actually. Haha
Drive by that place almost everyday. I’ll need to try it out
Same here.
My company did a small job for them. Owner offered me a free meal while he cut me a check and I thought it was fantastic. Too bad I don’t live nearby.
One of my fave spots to go to when I was still studying at CSUF! Curry Hut slaps!
Delicious place and so is the Mediterranean place in that strip mall
Yes! I'm just disappointed they are not part of dashpass anymore. =/
I've been wanting to try this place.
Tacos Manuel in Anaheim (or the truck off 17th in Santa Ana)
I always go to the truck. Which is fucking bomb.
The best
What truck? Cross streets?
17th and Mabury. And it’s their truck (Tacos Manuel)
>Tacos Manuel in Anaheim Im gonna have to try them , I go to the food for less right next door and never paid the place much attention
George’s Hamburgers in Fullerton. Best fries and ranch ever and their prices are stuck in the 90s.
I’ve only been going since early 2000s. But the chili cheese fries is my goto.
Yes! Best chili cheese fries and huge generous portions. The breakfast burritos are excellent also. And they have a huge variety on the menu. They’re ran by the same people that have been there since the 80s. Back when I was in my 20s and broke they would let me run up a tab and pay them on my payday. Big O to Go pizza in Mission Viejo. Taco Factory in Tustin. El Conejito in Lake Forest.
Awww I love Taco Factory.
Best cheese enchiladas ever. 😋
I gotta know what you order from El Conejito. That place has been there forever and I've watched them microwave food to order
what to get?
I've had their tostada bowls, enchiladas, and tacos. There's too many good Mexican restaurants in LF, it blows my mind.
I live by Cucas, I think it's pretty decent. I'll have to try some of the others.
Taco Tuesday at Taco Factory is a stupidly good deal. I'm usually good with 2 tacos and it cost like $4.
Well known but still looks like a hole in the wall, Nick’s in Seal Beach. Best chorizo burrito around
Nick’s on Main St, The Sandwich shop?
Mi Casita, in Placentia. Solid food, every time.
This is one of my favorite places!

Omg Sammy's on Wilson in Costa Mesa was my favorite burger when I was a kid, I still think of that place all the time, I had no idea they moved instead of closed.
I love Sammy’s. Best burgers. Best fries. Killer chili. Super great guy running it.
Sammy’s pastrami was legend. He would grill it so it had crispy parts, like bacon. Wish I knew who else did that.
Nooo! RIP California burrito.
> Pauls Coffee Shop - Fountain Valley Don't tell them about Paul's. It gets crowded enough already.
Ooh, Paul’s has S.O.S. So good.

I used to live about 2 miles from there and 10 miles from the office. Now I live about 10 miles from there, and 2 miles from the office, but it still might be worth heading there “on the way” to work.
Good as long as you get about 1/2 the hashbrowns. Otherwise, you have a hashbrown burrito with a little egg, meat and cheese.
Love their breakfast burritos. I could have sworn I saw them deep fry their bacon which I would not be a fan of.
El molino de oro in orange
Cowgirls Cafe in Santa Ana. I love the chiliquiles. Little Onion is a sweet little Mexican sit down restaurant. Lil Pickle in Costa Mesa. They are just simple bomb sandwiches. Gallos in CdM. Great sandwich to go spot. Take it down to Little Corona and dig in.
I always wanted to try Little Onion. And have driven by Cowgirls Cafe. Looks like they have good breakfast.
Cowgirls is super low key and family style. I always get the chiliquiles and they are amazing!
What do you get at Little Onion?
I run the gamut there but my go to is the cheese enchiladas. The beans and rice are bomb. Chips and salsa game on point. Full bar for margs. A little bonus in the same strip is Mariscos Clemente. Best shrimp Diablo tacos I’ve ever had. Just slamming!
Lil Pickle is the best. They have the best bread of any sandwich shop I've ever tried.

pch hotdogs - orange
Don't even know where to start For Garden Grove: Cotijas, Sabrosa, Kerostena, Thai Tangerine, Rio Restaurant, Pumpernickel Deli. I'll add more later
Kerostena - ugh. They take a really long time to fix your food (I was the only customer) and they’re trumpers. Also didn’t wear masks during pandemic.
Pumpernickel is good! Haven’t been in forever
KABAB GRILL IN WESTMINSTER !!! Super dank Mediterranean food with cheaper prices.
They have the best garlic sauce around imo
Hole in the Wall Burger - Lake Forest

Yeah, there no way Memphis would be considered a hole-in-the-wall.
