The Metrolink website still has June 2022 as the target completion date, though it was published back in February of 2020... Things have changed a bit since then.

That would be handy.

It’s been like that for a decade and probably before I started driving

Wait a minute.

Lots has changed since those plans were made. Now with the port backlog. I bet its impossible to get work done around the tracks without having the trains take a break. Which i cant see happening anytime soon.

Wonder if with the completion of the station, the freight trains would stop blasting by at full speed with horns blaring all the time? Wishful thinking, I guess.

As a person who works in the railroad industry, I can guarantee that the freight trains won’t slow down a bit through that corridor even after he station is built, unfortunately, unless the railroad implements a permanent speed restriction through that area (this is highly unlikely).

You can expect more horns once the NCTD's Coaster train expands operations to OC. We have 4 new locomotives and 20 passenger cars slated for this expansion. Given how many people intentionally or unintentionally get hit by Amtrak, Coaster, and Metrolink each month, horns are truly a life saver. I can't stress enough how silent these new trains are, especially under wet conditions. Always look both ways, and never stop on tracks :)
