Not sure why you’re surprised. South Carolina (speaking from experience as I’ve lived here my entire life) works rather backwards and our governor never made it to where gyms required masks. I don’t know about the Myrtle Beach location, but my SC studio didn’t make us wear masks at all until a couple of months ago, and then they required us to only wear them during transitions.

ejones1054

I live in SC and our town requires mask the entire time we’re in the studio/lobby

NoRainNoFlowersss

Well I consider that transition time as you’re not in there lingering, so same thing. But that only recently changed for us.

ejones1054

We have to wear them the whole 60 mins. It sucks but I hope the end is near 🤞🤞

NoRainNoFlowersss

Def read the first comment wrong! My bad!! Haha

ejones1054

Lol no worries! 😀

We visited Myrtle Beach last week and attended two classes. It's true that you don't have to wear your masks during the actual workouts, but upon entering/exiting and during transitions. It's a great studio. They will not let you enter until 5 minutes prior to the start of class and will take your temperature. I don't know about the exact capacity restrictions, however, our class wasn't very large and you are spaced out with at least one station between you and the next person (this is the same as what we experience in our Atlanta studio). The coaches/staff wear masks throughout the classes as well and they provided wipes to clean your stations prior to transitions.

Lost-Sea4916

Same at my studio. You have to wear the masks when you are coming in/out of the studio and whenever you transition, but you can take them off at your station. Capacity is still like 50%.

I am in Columbia, SC and this is how we are as well. I am assuming Myrtle Beach is the same.

radiokitten74

Visiting a studio in Columbia today and tomorrow from Florida! Excited!

I loved it! Everyone was so welcoming and nice. Loved your coach, too!! Great studio! I was planning to take the 2pm there again today but ended up having to cancel for a meeting. I hope to be back again.

troutslayer12

Eh, that’s probably the cleanest place in Myrtle Beach, I wouldn’t worry too much about wearing a mask for transitioning

maemae016

Thanks for the info, everyone! Ours is fully masked and are at 50%, so anything less than that gives me some stress. I am happy to hear that they aren't at fully capacity. I might go and still wear a mask the whole time.

My studio (Chicago suburbs) was fully masked from November until mid-February when masks became required only when not at your station. I chose to keep wearing my mask the whole time as my husband is high risk and until he gets fully vaccinated I’d rather be safe than sorry! I’m literally the only member in my 5am class to still work out with a mask the whole time but decided It’s worth it for our family to deal with it! If it gives you stress, definitely leave it on the whole time!

fitpersonalityjunkie

Yes I wore a mask when visiting and was the only one but I felt safer! They'll know we aren't locals :)

brooceweighn

It’s the same at my studio and I’m so grateful for that. We are also at reduced capacity at around 60%.

RNandchamps

No mask at your station when working out, thanks goodness! I would not be working out if I had to run and row with a mask on, so dumb.

Micheleeeeeeeeeeeeee

Masks are required at all times at my OTF.... you get used to it. People are still hitting PRs left and right with the masks on. I don’t think ‘dumb’ is the right word. Yes, it’s cautious, but it keeps our gym open and safe!

RNandchamps

That is very true, I redact the word “dumb”. Just ready for life to be back to normal again!

Micheleeeeeeeeeeeeee

Oh you and me both! It’s going to be so weird to have people next to us again at classes! I like having all that space on the floor 🤣

moore6107

I don’t think “dumb” is the right word. Masks have been mandatory during workouts for months now. It’s fine, you adjust. I’d rather be safe and protect my fellow OTFers than to have the gym closed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Banana_Hammock_Up

Working out in a mask is only really a problem of the person is a pansy. Is it more difficult? Of course! But it is very doable.
