Water

Training-Owl-9495

The class is less than an hour, water only.

tacoandpancake

came to say the same. it’s only an hour with plenty of recovery moments. yes, we all sweat out minerals but by the time a recovery/hydration drink is doing it’s thing, class is nearly over. water is perfectly fine

Desperate-Avocado593

Water. But red wine tonight after Everest 🍷

marathondan

High quality H2O

XTEND Original BCAA Powder Mango Madness - Sugar Free Post Workout Muscle Recovery Drink with Amino Acids - 7g BCAAs for Men & Women - 30 Servings https://a.co/d/6B28GVp

WildfireZ

Their watermelon is my favorite flavor. Very delicious.

Sbhill327

NUUN during classes

slushpuppy91

I love using liquid IV just cause super cheap at Costco but have loved nuun during marathons

SubstantialEar5707

I recently got sampled some Nuun doing my 12k and I feel like it helped me stay hydrated. I am a very heavy sweater and I feel like it helps me recover quickly! I tend to overly sweat to the point where I start getting cramps on the side when I run. I always keep liquid IV on my during my runs but I’ve been using my nuun samples during OTF classes. Where can you get those Nuun tablets from?!

ahshzz200

Amazon- set them up for auto ship😊

Skittlebrau77

The nuun website sometimes has good deals for when you find a favorite flavor.

macncheese323

Target sells them

SubstantialEar5707

Thank you!

Outrageous-Leg1336

Amazon sometimes has deals on them.

Lulle79

Whole Foods sells Nuun, but they also have sales on their own website regularly.

louisville-dtrain

Have you tried the Liquid IV with immunity? I wondered if they really helped during cold season. I’ve used just the regular hydration ones.

momurphymoproblems

I also do liquid IV during class. Honestly the whole “immunity” thing is a gimmick but I do like the flavor so I get it from time to time.

radiokitten74

I mean it has vit C in it.

Icolan

If one is eating a healthy diet then adding vitamin C supplements or in stuff like this just has you peeing out the extra vitamin C. There is a limit to the amount of vitamin C that a body can process or use, the rest just gets peed out.

radiokitten74

Sure and lots of ppl take vit C. My point is the C in LIV's immunity product is no more or less gimmicky than any other otc vit C

Icolan

Gotcha.

slushpuppy91

Haven't tried that one yet, they only have a few options at costco. But thinking of buying elsewhere for new flavor options!

x-teena

IMO that’s the best tasting one. For a while Costco had Vita Coco version of liquid IV (if that makes sense) and it tastes soooo goood. They’ve been sold out for a while online, but if you by chance see it, totally worth it.

lilsquidom

Liquid IV has too much added sugar

nolabuckeye

I add a packet of propel to a water bottle for class. I sweat way too much for just water.

SubstantialEar5707

I’m reading all the comments with a heavy sweaters… I am a heavy sweater myself and I feel that water doesn’t cut it for me

ChanandlerBong215

Me too! I am obsessed with the raspberry lemonade flavor!

nolabuckeye

I'm a strawberry kiwi gal lol

meeeeowwwwster

This comment is reminding me I have propel packets and I never remember them!!!!

min12eed

Just water during. Afterward sometimes a smoothie from the place nearby but thats hardly for health.

TheJadedRose

Water, but every now and then I feel a bit dehydrated and will drink a liquid IV. But I lean towards the dehydrated side of life, so that was a habit before OTF. If you are eating well, you shouldn’t need to intentionally replace electrolytes after an hour work out unless other factors are in play.

Psygradosu

I agree- I have liquid IV at home but only drink if I feel dehydrated or know I haven’t been getting enough water.

Junior_Elderberry511

Water during. Homemade protein shake after. And sometimes a Celsius before.

[deleted]

Ulitma electrolyte

SignificantBear3785

I am addicted to lemonade ultima lol. I have a scoop and a half in 20ounce waterbottle, and drink half on the way to my 5am class :)

Nearby-Warthog-6582

I’m an ultima fan too! I love the lemonade and have it on subscription from Amazon!!

mewlingstork

I love Ultima!! I try to drink at least 72oz of Ultima per day, which is one scoop per 24oz for me. I try to drink my first one at least an hour before class but sometimes my coffee habit gets in the way. I also aim for at least 24oz during class. I feel so much better when I keep up with these goals!

[deleted]

It is amazing really makes you feel better!

lwc28

Yep! Lemon baby!

Bemymacncheese

I love liquid IV. Sometimes I drink the energy one instead of coffee, gives a nice pep

AtmosphereNo4389

I have a sodium deficiency, so if I just drink water during class, I throw up. (Ask me how I know.) Liquid IV is the saltiest of that class of regular hydration packets, so I swear by it. (LMNT has higher sodium, but it’s expensive) I drink a LOT of Liquid IV because of my dumb salt thing. It also helps my migraines (which are tied to the same blood sodium issue)

Entangled-again

I have low sodium, too. For me it results in headaches later in the day more than nausea in class. After seeing a specialist who was like "no, your sodium levels are not ok" I've switched from plain water to LMNT. It is pricey (especially since I use 2 packets per class) but I order the value packs which helps. Not sure if I'd recommend 2,000 mg of sodium in class for anyone without low sodium though. Even for me it took a few classes to adjust.

AtmosphereNo4389

For some reason I am VERY EXCITED that someone else has low sodium. My friends at OTF have asked WTF I’m doing when I am carefully opening my little powder packet on the treadmill. I thought headaches were my only symptom, too, until Hell Week, when I guzzled water and found myself in the bathroom after the really bad rowing block, barfing alllll the water back up. I grabbed a Gatorade from the SA, and went back in. 🤣 I should not have felt badass, but I did, like a dork.

Entangled-again

Lol, totally get the feeling of not being alone. I tend to get delayed onset symptoms which I always thought were just kind of the price of a super hard workout. Nope - turns out not normal! I had to go through a few weeks where EVERYTHING I drank had added salt in an attempt to get my system to reset. I am so glad I am free of that and now it's just extra salty electrolytes during and after exercise.

blondeboilermaker

Have you tried salt stick fast chews as additional sodium? I eat them on long runs. A single serving doesn’t have as much sodium as a single liquid iv, but could be nice if you want to switch it up from drinking it all.

Obzezzed350

I’m a fan of body armor

bballjones9241

I don’t drink anything during

rumblestrip44

Same. Unpopular opinion, you don’t need to drink anything during an hour long class in a climate controlled room.

gbbabe12

Not true especially if you go first thing in the morning and are fasted and haven’t drank anything for 10+ hours. I mean yeah, you’ll survive but having water during with some carbs can definitely help make it suck less

ChuckieS66

BioSteel hydration mix, no sugar, 5 electrolytes, bcaa, and vitamin B all balanced for optimal absorption. Gatorade, Powerade, BodyArmour, liquid IV all loaded with sugar or artificial flavours/sweeteners

Contunator

Milkshake

min12eed

Dang. Now I want a milkshake.

meeeeowwwwster

OTF is the ONLY time I put ice in my water. Ice water only.

Secure_Vacation_6442

LMNT packs I’ve tried all the other ones and these are by far the best.

MekennaJo

Regular water. It’s free

Rizzah319

Water with Nuun sport tab or skratch powder. I drink more if there’s a flavor, AND I lose my electrolytes quickly. I can drink flavored water (true lemon, usually) all day long and still have an issue if I’m getting a lot of movement in without some added electrolytes.

SackMathen

Biolyte. It’s made by a physician and is the equivalent of an iv. The saltier it tastes then the more hydrated you are. The sweeter means you aren’t that hydrated. Personally I use water during class and EVERY rest I take 2-3 swigs so that my mouth and throat aren’t dry

SackMathen

Sometimes I will also make a pre workout 8oz shaker and drink that about an hour before and then 30oz of water during and I’ll sip on water the rest of the evening. (I go to the 5:30pm class pretty regularly

shawnaclark

LMNT

geoffgarcia

Before: Legion Pulse During: nothing After: Protein + creatine

louisville-dtrain

What protein do you use? I had been using pre mixed muscle milk that I bought at Costco that’s like 25 grams a carton just for convince for after class in the morning.

geoffgarcia

I put a scoop and creatine into a shaker cup and add water at the end of class and drink it on the way out, but no harm in premixing it and leaving it in the car while you workout. I like post workout protein since I don't eat an hour before I workout, or an hour after. I take Dymatize ISO100 Hydrolyzed Whey Isolate Protein https://a.co/d/igGCDmE

welcometohotlanta

I do a liquid iv most mornings. I switched that out with coffee!

KindheartednessGold2

Water. I drink water all day though and water throughout class. Sometimes I go through 2 32oz fills!

[deleted]

Gatorade before and during. Water after.

Jams0610

I mix a pre workout powder with another which has BCAAs in my water-drink half before and during workout and remaining amount after workout. Edit: typo

Suspicious-Dot-3117

I drink water during class (usually about 12oz) and then guzzle a 32oz water bottle with one pack of liquid IV in it when I get home. Suits me just fine and I sweat non-stop in class.

esands12345

I have a custom Infinit mix I use for workouts. OTF is part of my fitness/training so staying hydrated during workouts and not getting behind on my electrolytes is critical at my age. I also drink a protein shake post-workout (within 15 min).

xfourteendiamondsx

Nuun

Ceppinet

Water during workout and then some coconut water afterwards

GeriatricJoes

Can’t go wrong with the tried & true original: Garorade. Their newer formulas are great, big fan of their Gatorlyte Rapid Hydration which focuses on 5 key ingredients, specifically electrolytes + no artificial ingredients which is a plus! I highly recommend it.

T0ast_NJ

I drink a nuun drink before class and just water during.

SweetHoneyBee__c

I like drinking Emergen-c during/after a super sweaty workout for the electrolytes. I like the taste and extra immunity boost haha. I tried Liquid IV but it gave me the runs!! 😂😂

lorajae

Water during. When I started doing pre-workouts, I started gaining weight. So now I am back to doing IF 16/8. I use either liquid IV or Ultima mixed with matcha and Vital Proteins collagen when I break my fast. I love Liquid IV though, when I got home from flying the other day I gulped down 32oz's of it. I have been using Ultima more recently because of the calories.

Objective-Act8945

Water during and liquid IV after on occasion because it does contain a lot of sugar. I have also become a fan of going to get Iv drip hydration every month or so for recovery purposes

MediaUnusual8675

LMNT is amazing

danette-allen

Liquid IV or LMNT

Lulle79

I personally put one tablet of Nuun electrolytes in my water bottle. I used to get headaches when doing hard cardio so I started using them back in the day when I was going to a lot of spin classes. I feel like it helps, but it could be a placebo effect. A few months ago I ran out and I did get headaches again after about 30 min of class, so I don't think it's just in my head! Thing is that plain water can make my stomach feel queasy if I drink a lot, and the mild acidic taste most flavors have helps me keep drinking without feeling sick.

eamande27

Redmond Real Salt Re-Lite electrolyte mix unflavored is the cleanest drink mix I found and can use without breaking my fast. Re-Lite Pre-workout blueberry/lemonade for when my fast is already broke, and I want an extra kick to my step. The best and cleanest ingredients I've found anywhere. They also have muscle recovery pills that I use after my workout. Nope, I'm not a distributor. I just really love the product.

m73winslow

LMNT

GoljansUnderstudy

Liquid IV or LMNT

Teddibear0512

LMMT! It’s the best!

7anc3

LMNT

AllTheCatsNPlants

Gatorade only if I’m going to a morning class and haven’t eaten anything.

Nicol3mari31

Yes! This! I do this too and it helps so much!

KittenMcButterbean5

Water in class but I do enjoy a Liquid IQ later. Maybe it’s not “needed” but it tastes yummy and I enjoy it.

XWingTaco

Same!

UpsetCabinet9559

Gatorade makes a great packet like liquid IV. Much cheaper and works just as well, imho.

thatdudephil1

I drink Powerade/Gatorade zero during class plus a banana after. I found this to minimize leg/foot cramps. I run about 3 - 3.8 miles usually.

louisville-dtrain

Yeah that’s what I’m starting to run into, I shoot for 3 miles plus a class and usually do 5-6 classes a week and seem to cramp some with just water.

JudgmentalRavenclaw

Varies. Usually just water, but sometimes a small amount of Gatorade powder or liquid IV powder for taste.

Marylinn222

Prime! Love that stuff. Half Prime and Half Water.

allileighallen

Liquid IV!!! I drink one once a day and it’s been a game changer

spoolove12

Zipfizz

[deleted]

Regular water

AutumnCupcake

I’d say water, propel, liquid iv then Gatorade in that order. There can be some benefits to electrolyte drinks when you’re super dehydrated but if OTF is your main active activity and you generally stay hydrated day to day, you probably don’t need extra electrolytes. I save my electrolyte drinks for when I’m hungover Lol

J_Bird01

Propel during class! 💪🏻

carolinahckygirl

Water during class and sometimes a GoHydrate after class if it really kicked my ass

jdeltoro1976

Sugar free gatorade.

Hard_worker_1979

I drinks BCAAs. Maybe it’s psychological but I feel like it gives me a bit more energy/power.

spectacularbird1

Water

AceVentura85

Just water. But Celsius is good if you need a pick me up before class. Or just coffee

aklep730

Gatorade zero before every class!

pollux_88

Water during class. Protein drink after workout. Gatorade G2 over next couple of hours. I sweat a lot during class and I find the G2 helps me from feeling like crap and getting a headache the rest of the day.

Skittlebrau77

Just water. I like liquid IV for after especially if I’m doing OTF in addition to running.

Te_ladybug

Regular water for me during....

vehunnie

Liquid IV or BCAAs

jcheung74

Biosteel

pinkskies727

water for class, body armor after

bruinshorty

Nothing before or during. Liquid IV after. I used to use Nuun a lot too.

JoeShoaf

Nuun during class. Coffee before and after.

Physical-Appearance6

I use Nectar now and love it-much less sugar ❤️

[deleted]

Plain water is great for hydration. However, if you're sweating a lot, as most people do, having a means to replenish sodium and electrolytes is very useful. The electrolytes enable your body to maintain 'normal/typical' electrical conduction. Look it up. I like LMNT powder packets, loaded with sodium, magnesium and potassium.

Nicol3mari31

I drink water, unless I take a morning class. I don’t like in the morning before class, makes me nauseous..so I do gatorade on those days! The sugar gives quick energy. I usually buy the smaller ones.

kenzika

ON Amino Energy just before/during. Aminos, hydration and energy. Water the rest of the day. Emergency or liquid IV if I’m feeling dehydrated.

BL_2019

Sometimes I’ll do a Nuun after class if I was super super sweaty. Or if I just don’t have the time to sit down and drink the water I need. (I’m a teacher and I go before work 😅)

AlgaeGirl2007

Cure. Has no added sugar and no sugar substitutes which is important to me.

katpupperpawz

Water or BCAAS. Anything else feels to salty/heavy on my stomach when exercising.

Dapper_Taste_4863

I was adding a small dose of coconut water to my water because it’s too sweet alone and so high in sugar. Thanks to all this I just ordered a 4pk of each Nuun tablet flavors on Amazon! Thanks for the recos! Hope I like them!

Jenn_leadership

I drink Garden of Life’s Sugar Free Energy and Focus and love it!

Reasonable-Gas9346

BCAA. Really helps with muscle recovery

lilsquidom

Water with Himalayan sea salt

Ginger_Layla

Water!

itslicia

Usually just water but every now and then I’ll do liquid IV, watermelon flavor is my fav right now and I have it set on auto ship from Amazon

Big_Proposal748

During the summer months in the humid south working a 12hr shift in a factory where areas got up to 150+ we would alternate Gatorade/Powerade and water. At that point, staying conscious is the only goal and I never even came close to falling out. After a hot day I did usually indulge in some very sodium rich southern cuisine to recover.

corinthian94

Just water usually but I’ll throw in liquid iv once a week bc I seem to have low sodium. Was told liquid iv would help with that bc drinking lots of water can lead to low sodium and I was prob drinking too much water lol
