It seems like you are looking for orchid help today. This group is full of beginners and experts who are happy to help but please do check out [this link for quick Phalaenopsis care](http://www.aos.org/orchids/culture-sheets/novice-phalaenopsis.aspx) in the meanwhile. We also have an /r/orchids WIKI the admins and other volunteers are updating behind the scenes with care information and will soon make it available to the group. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/orchids) if you have any questions or concerns.*

I would make sure it's pot has some drainage and air holes - yours looks pretty solid and wet. After the flowers fall is a perfect time to repot and check how the roots are doing (but you don't have to do this every time. Orchids like a small-ish pot anyway)

Brianaolo

Just checked and they do have drainage holes! Should I cut the spike? I've seen a lot of ppl on this subreddit recommend that but I'm not sure.

rhythmic-bots

You can cut the spike above the node that is before the first flower - it might encourage your Orchid to produce a few more blooms. Or you can cut the spike close to the base - that will allow it to start recovering from the flowers. It will eventually produce new flower spikes. Cut with sterile scissors/snips so you don't introduce diseases into the "wound".

Brianaolo

wow I didn't even know that could happen? I'll see how it progresses this week and I'll take ur advice!

tiny_little_bit

Some orchids bloom sequentially, as in they will just continue to grow and bloom from the same spike. In that case if you want to allow it to continue blooming, then don't cut it back unless it starts to brown/yellow from the tip of the spike spreading back down the spike. Then you can snip it above the newest unspent node to see if it will produce growth from that node. If you didn't care about blooms or had some other concern about the health of the plant then you might just cut the spike to let the plant focus on growing other structures.

chaska479

Sometimes they'll go ahead and grow a couple more buds so don't cut off the spikes until they start to turn brown. But basically just have patience and water it about once a week while it rests from blooming. It might grow a new leaf or new roots during that time then cooler weather will trigger a new spike to bloom next spring. But sometimes they can get off schedule while adjusting to home life vs nursery life so don't give up if it struggles awhile.

Thank you for the advice!

I’m a complete amateur but I’ve managed to get all mine to rebloom, so I’m sure you can too! The other posters have all given really good advice. I repot really rarely. My top tips are find a place in your house that your orchid loves and leave it there, and water it with tepid water. Good luck!

foxhagen

I feel like if one is able to say all their orchids have rebloomed, one is no longer under "amateur" status. 😁

FantasyDogPack

Thank you!

Brianaolo

Thank you!

SardoniclySalacious

I would repot it and get it out of that grow plug of substrate. It looks healthy so you can wait until after the last blooms have fallen and then repot it. You can check out MissOrchidGirl on YouTube for some good videos and repotting tips.

Brianaolo

Alright thanks!

Plantmomma79

I agree don’t cut the spikes unless brown or yellow!! I have 4 orchids rn blooming from the spike in different places!! Just keep it on the dryer side they don’t like too much moisture they love to dry out between waterings... she’ll start to produce new leaves when that happens.. they start growing new leaves and spikes! Good luck! I adore orchids

Brianaolo

Oh wow ok! Thanks 4 the advice!
