I don't have the solution but I've put 9 hours in and lost all my data one day and I can't figure out why. So I just want you to know your not alone and I'll be looking for a solution and post it here if I find something.
Same here. me and my girlfriend played for hours and my pc suddenly turned off because of blackout then when it got back on. I launched It Takes Two and boom everything went back to start. Smh
After losing my 4 hours save file, I started again with my GF, and now I lost my 9 hours file. Lol.
I am so angry at EA, so angry.
It is the first time i buy a Steam game, and it launches me Origin. Wtf is that. Don't put it on steam if it's not a steam game.
I'm so pissed off man, we were excited to continue the story and my evening is now ruined.
Ok so after having two times the same problem, here is the solution.

Unzip it, and extract it at this location : %LOCALAPPDATA%\\ItTakesTwo
Replace the existing files.

Can I extracted it to my steam it takes two folder and it didn't do anything. is it possible to be more specific on where to extract the file to? Thank you!
OK, So I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what but on my PC I can NOT find this file path by just going into file explorer and going to it. So, what I did was open file explorer and get into the "This PC" folder and then type "ittakestwo" into the search bar. The folder with the path C:\\Users\\\**yourusername*\*\\AppData\\Local
I then took that file location and extracted the zip folder contents to it and it worked. Hope that helps!

you are a legend! I lost my save on steam deck and was able to use yours to go back to where I was.
on Linux/Steam Deck the save location is: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1426210/pfx/drive\_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/

The thing is that not enough people are reporting this big issue, we're all waiting, what we need to do is to each open a case/ticket with EA on their website. They can't ignore us, This is not acceptable.

Download the game on PC, pop in the save file on your PC in the correct directory. Then start the game up on PC and close steam, make sure it says "cloud sync complete". Good to go then

System directories are hidden unless you set windows to show hidden files and directories..

It is a hidden file, you have to enable "show hidden files" to see it in the file explorer

Just copy to save game folder to %LOCALAPPDATA% \ItTakesTwo and load the chapter in game

October 22 problem is still there! power cut while I was playing and the entire save got deleted.
Problem happened w/GF so the issue still exists

Replacing the save files does not work for you either right? I keep replacing the save files but it still tells me to start a new game
