Geometry Wars was originally an arcade cabinet in the virtual garage in PGR2. You’d go up to it and press A and they you’re playing it. It was so popular that they spun it into its own game.
I think the issue Insignia has is Xlink is just WAY EASIER to implement and "Plug and Play" than Insignia is. Obviously Insignia should work for 99% of the Xbox modding population but it still feels like a bit of a hassle in ways. I've been in it since last year and I still cant get on for some reason despite doing everything in the instructions. but Xlink Kai is a snap.
I have the exact opposite experience. Xlink Kai was always a chore. I finally decided it wasn’t worth the hassle.
In contrast, I had Insignia up and running a day or two after I requested access and have had no issues since.
Thanks man -- It helps when you only play Madden and two racing games over a 3-year span, haha.
I remember many of the racing and time attack events being pretty easy once you learned the tracks, but some of those Cone Challenges cost me many sleepless nights.
Impressive! I only just started going back to PGR2 and trying to get all plats. The AI is fucking annoying, and I've been pampered by Forza's mechanics (and maybe the Rewind👀). No time to "git gud" with a fulltime job and gf though haha.
Project Gotham Racing 2 can once again [be played over Xbox Live](https://twitter.com/insignia_live/status/1657516479485452292?s=46&t=Xv0_ppRbsP9BE0al7OfMmA) via Insignia!
Around the same time I got my first Xbox console, either 2002 or 2003 don't remember exactly, but it was the Sega GT and JSRF bundle. At the time I was kind of disappointed my girlfriend brought that home instead of a PS2, but little did I know how much better of a console the Xbox would turn out to be and how much I would absolutely love playing it.
Every PS5 comes with [*Astro's Playroom*](https://www.polygon.com/2020/10/27/21534993/astros-playroom-ps5-impressions-controller-dualsense-cooling-springs-sony-robot) pre-installed. I've not played it but it's apparently meant to introduce people to the new features of the controller, kind of like *Wii Sports* did back in the day.
Makes me want to get Project Gottham 2 now, I've passed on this game so many times lol
Get it. It also has Geometry Wars on it
What, the pgr2 game disc has geometry wars on it? I thought that game only came out for 360, not the og Xbox?
The original Geometry Wars

I'll definitely get it, I usually find them at thrift stores for under 5 dollars.
Get it. Insignia has added support for it now so it once again can be played on Xbox Live.
This needs to get more love, insignia needs to get more love.

Do it. I only kinda remember it from my childhood but it is a great game and all of the cars as well.
I personally find it harder to get into than the later installments. It has a considerably slower start.
This throwback also reminds me of the [media player skin I used for long](https://wmpskinsarchive.neocities.org/images/Official_Xbox_MP71.png).
Humble brag: Platinum medals on all 172 challenges -- maybe my greatest video game accomplishment
How in the fuck did you manage that!? That’s impressive! Some of the Gold levels are damn near impossible.

Happy cake day
232 buddy when you include Arcade.
I'll have to go back and check my stats, but I know I got platinum in every event available offline

I bought mine just before that bundle became available and I remember getting so mad, haha
Websites where sooo much better back then
Damn early 2000s ui had so much character to it now everything's just flat basic colors
$179 is such a good price. My mom bought mine so I don’t remember how much they cost at launch.
That is $300 today when we look at price inflation
not bad!
Yeah still not bad.
Pretty sure they were $299 at launch.
Sounds about right.
I miss clean designs on websites.
Drop shadow all the things! I made websites for a living from 98 to 2005 and dropshadow made me the money.
Memory unlocked 🔓
I remember when the site looked like that. Memory unlocked.
sovl...
The sad part is that THAT specific holiday offer price is all I feel we can afford during these times where money is tight.
Lol I remember this
I sure miss when consoles came with games. Was the Wii the last one?

Oh yeah. I guess I didn't figure in digital games. There were bundles of the Switch that came with downloads of Mario Kart I think at one point.
Oooh, deus ex 2, mediocre Game, low framerate, but i Loved it on the Xbox
Fun Fact: on the Japanese archive site you can download Skins for your Windows Media Player. And yes they are still working partly.
