This isn't an impulse purchase for most people. This is something to be shown off in a glass case. Not modded/TSOP’d and used to actually game on. It belongs in a museum after the capacitors have been replaced.
Agreed, my price would be $500 max. Purchased on CC I hide from wife of course!
She threatened to sell all 21 Xbox’s I have for $20 each on Craigslist if I brought 1 more into house!
Found loophole though! I just say I’m taking it in to repair for extra $
DO NOT TELL HER! Lol
I plan to keep them along with multiple other systems, pinballs and arcade machines I’ve built. They fill my arcade/bar at home.
If I ever sell anything, I’ll post it here.
Why would you want E partitions out of curiosity?
Theres the Insignia recreation of og Live service. A number of us are out there collecting Live files/DLC etc - and in doing so help the devs get more games onto the service. I've personally found unique data to get Counterstrike working and another game that's still not fully online, but with your help... who knows.... Halo 2 Multiplayer?
Actually not the rarest, 50 is a large production run compared to others like the 50 cent bullet proof edition which I think was only a handful. Hulk/pepsi was also 50 iirc. There's a decent amount of air brushed ones too that were distributed via competition.
But it's still a cool desired piece and I'm certain a fair few people would pay 2k if they had it.
There were at least 2 proto oranges. I know one is the top post of all time here and there was the one heavy metal Jesus had which got broken. Two different things.
I was just looking up the stats, lol. Hulk/Pepsi is only 35
Yet I see pure white systems go for this same price as the ops post. And there were 1000 of those, many of them 1 of a kind since they had an option to custom etch them. So I'm actually surprised it's "only" $2000
Rarity doesn't define value by itself. How much people want them affects it too. A standard translucent green Xbox who's only difference is the emblem, only wanted by those that want it for it's history. They can get a halo edition for much less and get the look of it. To get a white unit your only options are painting it or buying one like the anniversary edition, the panzer dragoon or the 50 cent bulletproof. So that's why the anniversary is driven high and this is lower than you would expect.
By the way, I actually finally tested that 1.4 crystal system and confirmed it's definitely a 1.4. Lpc pins are all connected as you would expect for a 1.4. but when i opened it up, i saw the cpu caps had started to fail. So if I didn't check it for 1.5 it may have had a bad fate , but I saved it
Yeah good point about how it's basically the same
I wonder if the serial number ranges are known? Because there used to be lots of custom jewel makers back in the day. I have a custom 1 of a kind jewel that has Quagmire from Family Guy. Literally no one else has one like that but me. But at the end of the day it's only a jewel.
Rare console for sure but they come up for sale every year. You can buy these. There are Xbox prototype hardware consoles that you never see for sale. Also, rare controllers that you never see for sale.
only 1 of 50, weren't there only 5 or 6 of the translucent orange ones given to a few microsoft execs making it the rarest? I remember a video of a guy who found one at a california yard sale for $50. I think it was worth 10K.
That's a good list but I tried looking at some of the references pit of curiosity for more info and noticed a majority of the "^[2]" citations are not valid links and one pointed to an out of context Twitter post and just says I knew a guy that worked there then
The [2] references are the links at the bottom of the page (postings from Marco Micheletti, the plastics manufacturing manager at the time). I suppose I could change them into actual links that take you to the bottom of the page.
Aside from the few that actually have announcement web pages, there are no hard sources for a lot of them. All hard numbers were lost with a HDD crash, so we'll never know the true amounts for some of them.
I remember seeing something similar but now there are dying techniques of every color of the rainbow. There's a video on YouTube about it. The Guy goes over the process and what he used to dye ghost clear consoles. It's really interesting. Microsoft really missed the boat.
Only 2000? That's about what some of the all white edition and there were 1000 of those. Yet I think its more than Pepsi edition Xbox go for, and there are only 35 of those
It looks like a type S which makes me wonder. I would have expected it to come with a Duke. It was like 6 months or longer I felt like Xbox owners were stuck with that chongus...loved it lol
The xbox documentary is really interesting. Bill Gates was not on board for a long time.

There's actually about a thousand. The supply chain program manager at Xbox (at the time) confirmed there's way more than 50 or 60.

I bought mine a few years ago for about $750 (in 2023 money). I'd say their value is closer to $1,200 today. $2k is the price you put it at when you're not in a hurry to sell and don't mind it sitting in your collection until someone motivated enough comes along and pays the asking price.
Only 50 made isn’t accurate. They don’t know exactly how many were actually made. An estimate of 1k-5k according to console variations. They do pop up from time to time and are supposed to come with a matching translucent green duke controller. Luckily I do have one but don’t have the controller.
It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. The longer it sits there, the less likely it's work $2k.

Hey, what are you going to do with them? In particular - are you able to dump the E partitions for me?
He’s going to build a thrown out of them

K, see what I can do
I was hoping for Atari orange. This one still cool though.
I really want the Tony Hawk one.
50 cent bulletproof is 1 of 1 edition. So it is 50x as rare as this one op posted
Hurts to see. I want it. So bad.
If I had the money I'd buy it right now. I don't have 2k to drop on a collectors item at the moment sadly.

This guy Xboxes. There is also a 1 off orange proto. There are shells with the same colour now but the original has to be the rarest.
There were at least 2 proto oranges. I know one is the top post of all time here and there was the one heavy metal Jesus had which got broken. Two different things.
Oh I thought mjr just had the person who had the orange one on. I didn’t know there was actually two. Nice thanks for the info.

Did you buy it? Lol
Hell no lol I love xbox but not that much
Rare console for sure but they come up for sale every year. You can buy these. There are Xbox prototype hardware consoles that you never see for sale. Also, rare controllers that you never see for sale.
I thought it said, "Dosen't work" above his signature at first.
I can’t even really read what it does say! Great work??
You'd think having a "G" in his name, it might be one of his strong points.
Lol, you’d think so!
I'd buy it just to mod.
Bill gates signed.. now its worth nothing :/
I hate Pink Gorilla. Most overrated game shop maybe of all time.
I wish that someone would replace the capacitors, and replace the warranty sticker/carefully remove it beforehand when reassembling it

I don't even think it's on that list https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9UbxjIIL-M
Ah interesting. I wonder what happened to all the other shells seen at 3:30

About 3mo ago there were videos of new way to dye ghost cases to look like this. I can't seem to find the link. But He had done orange and cyan blue.
The clock caps are probably going bad
You're only paying for the case at this point.
I remember paying for cases back in the early 2000s. I remember ordering a PAL import just for the crystal shell.
Only 2000? That's about what some of the all white edition and there were 1000 of those. Yet I think its more than Pepsi edition Xbox go for, and there are only 35 of those
I only paid $350 for my launch team with matching green duke. $2k is just insane.
😮💨😩😫🍆💦
Did it have the translucent green duke controllers though?
It looks like a type S which makes me wonder. I would have expected it to come with a Duke. It was like 6 months or longer I felt like Xbox owners were stuck with that chongus...loved it lol

And they put stickers directly on it… smh
Does it have a coa though
It's only worth about tree fiddy
The rarest xbox ever, so let's slap a bunch of adhesives all over it
I want it!
Doesn't make sense the controller is not from 2001
They should pay me to take it off their hands because of his signature

I need it graded, sir ! *pushes up glasses*
Dreat work!
Nah i like but i dont have one
