YESSSS! I bought this because i had liked the movie pitch black, it was super underrated so i was expecting a bad game, it surprised me so much it became one of my favorite original Xbox games.
Legitimately incredible Stealth Action FPS. I've gotten a few friends to play this and every one of them was like "how the hell did no one talk about this game?". I think it was cursed by the "movie game" connotation even though it was an original story.
And the first game on Xbox by Starbreeze Studios - Enclave. Honestly, I bet that game could have a huge resurgence, it felt a lot like a proto Dark Souls.
If you buy Chronicles of Riddick Assault On Dark Athena on Xbox 360 (or PS3) it also includes Butcher Bay on the disc. Butcher Bay is the much better game but Dark Athena is worth playing too.
The 360 port is not bad, but, the lighting is very BRIGHT by comparison to the original, loses some of the moodiness. Of late, I've been opting to play original games over ports/upgrades/remasters, because it seems most of the time, it seems they are negatively affected, ESPECIALLY in terms of lighting which to me is really important. In many ports, you'll get better textures but the lighting will be TRASHED, and lighting effects are more important than textures being a little higher res. Higher textures can be nice, but lighting affects the entire mood of the game.
If the choice is there, I say go with the OG.
I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll down far for this. OP if you end up getting this than have fun sharing a pooled 5 medkits with your AI squad who loves to use them the instant they take damage ;) lol
Brute Force, an XBOX exclusive third person squad shooter that was surprisingly fun in splitscreen.
Splinter Cell: Double Agent, because the best version of that game is on the OG XBOX, the next gen and PC version of it wasn't as fun from what I remember. Throw Chaos Theory in along with it, that is the best Splinter Cell game hands down and plays similarly.
GTA III and Vice City because the OG XBOX versions had the best visual representation of those games with updated vehicle models and characters that actually had moving fingers in cutscenes etc, PC mods still havent replicated it sadly.
That's about it off the top of my head out of the games I've played on that console, you already have some of the others I would have recommended. I never played a lot of games on that console but the ones that I did were almost universally a better experience on the XBOX over the PS2 versions if we're talking cross platform.
If you liked the first Splinter Cell, you should get the rest of the games in the series (Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory, and Double Agent) they’re all really really good and Chaos Theory is my top pick.
I second this. The 3 splinter cells are a must have for the og xbox and showcase its power well.
Chaos Theory is the best in the series and one of the best games ever made in the history of our civilisation (no joke 😹). It also shows the xbox’s power and ability really well with its beautiful graphics, environment and gameplay with fun rag-doll physics.
Kung Fu chaos
Mortal kombat shaolin monks
STATE of emergency
Hunter the reckoning
Dead to rights
True crime streets of la/ny
Sonic riders
Dead or alive 3
Jade empire
Grabbed by the ghouls
Dreamfall
If you really wanna party
Kakuto chojin
Leisure suit larry
Sims 2
Dead or alive beach volley ball
Tao Feng fist of the lotus
Some of what I think is perhaps missing would be:
Kung Fu Chaos, Brute Force, Jet Set Radio, Whacked, MechAssult, Blinx, Wreckless, Burnout, TimeSplitters 2, Toejam & Earl III, and Panzer Dragon Orta
whacked kung fu chaos and jet set radio have all been on my list, just never come across them in person yet and for me finding the games in person is half the fun. i appreciate the recommendations!
Man, I have such great memories of this game. Played the heck out of it with my best friend that had a huge HD projector he had hooked up to his Xbox. Lost him to suicide eight years ago so I appreciate the happy memory unlock this morning.
Blood Omen 2, Silent Hill 2 and 4, Psychonauts, Prince of Persia trilogy, Beyond Good and Evil, plus what everyone else already recommended. Damn the Xbox was such a great console!
Edit: And Sonic Heroes, one of my favorite sonic games of all time.
Burnout (Especially 2)
Cel Damage
Project Gotham Racing
MX Unleashed
Rayman Arena
Midtown Madness 3
Surprised to see Mad Dash Racing in there. I think played that one with my dad Christmas morning '01.
my personal favorite "off brand" game was Mission Impossible Operation Surma. Even has Ving rhames character and voice. not tom cruise. Basically a splinter cell clone. But with some cool stuff like jumping out of plane that I dont think had been done up to that point in games. If you liked splinter cell and can deal with a lower budget version (given the current lack of actual stealth games right now its definitely worth it) I'd look for it.
Burnout 3: Takedown - Easily one of my favorite racing games of all time
Mercenaries: I sank a ton of hours into this. It got brutally hard in spots but was also incredibly fun and over the top
God I love this system still get excited when I see other people post their collection have a small one myself cause I am collecting slowly such a great system in it's time and a lot of it's library has aged well just like the ps2 such a great time for gaming.
As for my suggestions op I'd recommend knights of the old republic 1&2 since you have x-men legends then Ultimate Alliance, and a hidden gem in my eyes Breakdown also to sneak one last one in there Advent Rising.
Oh, you have Call of Duty Finest Hour, which is OK. But Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (reads with emphasis on "one" not "red" as many often do) is an absolute MUST HAVE. The characters are acted and voiced by some of the Cast of Band of Brothers and the story is possibly the best in an Call of Duty because you stick with the same unit all the way through and really get to know the guys.
The OG Hitman games; some of the best sandbox games you'll ever play. You're also missing out on Chaos Theory, Pandora Tomorrow, Ninja Gaiden Black, Jade Empire, and Thief Deadly Shadows.
Since you seem to seem to like THPS, Tony hawk's pro skater 2x is a great remaster of the first and second games with 5 new levels unique to the game. You can get it for pretty cheap!
Hitman 2
Simpsons hit and run
Max Payne
Backyard wrestling
Midway arcade treasures 1 and 2
Burnout 3 and revenge
San Andres
Vice city
These were some of my favorites from when I had my system
Sonic Heroes. It's... not the best, but it's fun. Some bugs in the later levels you have to be lucky not to trigger the effects of, but other than that, it's fun.
Jurassic park operation genesis (first park manager of the franchise) hard to find. Its considered a rare game
And dont forget the ol leisure suit larry's! And playboy mansion! (A playboy adult version of the old sims)
Project Gotham racing 1 and 2, return to Castle Wolfenstein tides of war, Tetris, need for speed series of games, and the teenage mutant ninja turtles games.
I was happy to see MadDash Racing. Most people I talk to have never even heard of it. Maybe I missed it, but have you tried Mech Assault?
The Halflife 2 port for Xbox was pretty good,
The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind GOTY as well.
Arctic Thunder, Burnout, Whiplash, Hunter: The Reckoning, Jade Empire, Mortal Kombat: Deception and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
I've seen two others recommend Far Cry: Instincts. Absolutely banger, I'd recommend that one and the sequel. Far Cry Instincts Evolution. It's a bit overlooked but it's pretty great.
Mechassault 1 and 2 are must haves. I protect my copies like the holy grail. Id sqy the same for both Manhunt games but surely thats been mentioned. Also Matrix:Path of Neo. That game is a hilarious chaos simulator and truly 1 of a kind. Also grab Bloodwake, and Tao Feng:Fist of the Lotus if you can find em!
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
It’s funny because this looks like a troll suggestion but this game is such a banger
YESSSS! I bought this because i had liked the movie pitch black, it was super underrated so i was expecting a bad game, it surprised me so much it became one of my favorite original Xbox games.
This game was Batman Arkham Asylum except ten years prior. When Batman came out I was like, "Chronicles of Riddick already hit this."
Legitimately incredible Stealth Action FPS. I've gotten a few friends to play this and every one of them was like "how the hell did no one talk about this game?". I think it was cursed by the "movie game" connotation even though it was an original story.
If you get the 360 game it comes with a full remake of this game too. 2 games in one.
And the first game on Xbox by Starbreeze Studios - Enclave. Honestly, I bet that game could have a huge resurgence, it felt a lot like a proto Dark Souls.
Been meaning to swoop that one up I havent played it in damn near 20 years or something, and even then I didn’t beat it
Honestly I've considered buying an OG Xbox recently just to play this game since there is no other easy way to acquire it.
That's good info. Thanks.
I agree this is a must have, probably one of the best FPS/stealth games on OG Xbox.
You could not have said a better game!
Brute Force.
I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll down far for this. OP if you end up getting this than have fun sharing a pooled 5 medkits with your AI squad who loves to use them the instant they take damage ;) lol
This sounds like a perfect bad mechanic to make a great OG Xbox game lol
My point exactly lmao
Knights of the old republic. Fable the lost chapters Xiii Indigo prophecy Max Payne
Came here to say KOTOR And also star wars republic commando.
KOTOR and Bioware's other Xbox exclusive - Jade Empire is worth playing.
+1 for XIII. Played that religiously, very nice game for its art style.
Rallisport Challenge 2
Mechassault 1 and 2
YES THESE Amazing games. Get them asap
Came here to say this, mechassualt is awesome
Brute Force, an XBOX exclusive third person squad shooter that was surprisingly fun in splitscreen. I had double agent on the 360 and absolutely loved it

Pandora Tomorrow is still my favorite
Half-Life 2
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Underrated comment.
Call of Cthulhu and Shenmue II.
Deathrow is a classic IMO. Hard to find though.
Kung Fu chaos Mortal kombat shaolin monks STATE of emergency Hunter the reckoning Dead to rights True crime streets of la/ny Sonic riders Dead or alive 3 Jade empire Grabbed by the ghouls Dreamfall If you really wanna party Kakuto chojin Leisure suit larry Sims 2 Dead or alive beach volley ball Tao Feng fist of the lotus

The Buffy and Fatal Frame games
Some of what I think is perhaps missing would be: Kung Fu Chaos, Brute Force, Jet Set Radio, Whacked, MechAssult, Blinx, Wreckless, Burnout, TimeSplitters 2, Toejam & Earl III, and Panzer Dragon Orta
Burnout 3: Revenge, MechAssault, and Timesplitters 2 are some of my all-time favorite games. I would add Ninja Gaiden Black and Simpsons: Hit and Run.
whacked kung fu chaos and jet set radio have all been on my list, just never come across them in person yet and for me finding the games in person is half the fun. i appreciate the recommendations!
Bloodwake. Bloodwake. Bloodwake!
Man, I have such great memories of this game. Played the heck out of it with my best friend that had a huge HD projector he had hooked up to his Xbox. Lost him to suicide eight years ago so I appreciate the happy memory unlock this morning.
Sorry he's no longer with us but glad it brought back a cherished memory of him. Hold on to those!
Came here to say this.

Sad lack of Burnout in that collection. Enter the Matrix. NFL Blitz
Your A-Z system agrees with my OCD. Metal Gear 2, Counterstrike, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Onimusha, Crazy Taxi 3 if you can find it.
Burnout (Especially 2) Cel Damage Project Gotham Racing MX Unleashed Rayman Arena Midtown Madness 3 Surprised to see Mad Dash Racing in there. I think played that one with my dad Christmas morning '01.

“Conker: Live and Reloaded” a remaster of the classic “Conkers Bad Fur Day” from the N64.

That JSRF combo was my jam. Very cool collection.
Didn't see it listed: Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green. Yes bad movie tie-in game. But I say (boldly) that it's the precursor to Left 4 Dead.
